@thebugoutguy It's all about what fits your style best. It's no-one's place to tell you what's right or wrong with your process. In my experience, waving the Spartan just becomes second nature. Since I've had experience with it I never have any issues with it not deploying.

I've been to Iraq and have had extensive knife training, I have even had the opprotunity to use my knife in combat. It was a fixed blade Hissatsu. Btw, using an assisted folder in combat is stupidy.

Your Hissatsu might be a good choice for Steven Segal, or a collector, but not for military deployment. The handle is not long or grippy enough, and there is no guard to prevent sliding onto the blade, or for parrying knife strikes. In the desert, you can't run out to the BX or Walmart to get a Gerber LMF or a Kabar when you bend the thin blade or snap off the fragile tip of the CRKT. LOL.

A few tips for you, you dont have to take it if you dont want to, but i'm just mentioning it anyways:
First of, bend you knees and get a bit lower when doing your moves, it'll greatly increase your balance and speed.
Secondly try keeping your wrist loose and "snap cutting" with this blade, I own it myself and it's excellent for this, makes huge gashes and is extremely fast.
Lastly, keep your knife hand in front of your left hand and please dont use your left hand as a meat shield like that.

I'm not a "martial arts expert", but the key to any fighting technique is control. Strength in your techniques and efficient movement are important. I'd suggest a little more practice with control before doing another "demonstration"...

Your moves are completely off balance. You don't lead with your hand or anything, you just go straight into extremely off-balanced chops and wild slashes. You throw yourself around so dramatically, especially when you open the blade. You demonstrate both poor footwork and no coordination at 4:05. You never try to close distance or use your other arm, you just try to lean out and touch someone with broad strokes.

CS Spartan owner here. I LOVE this fantasy knife but lets face it, this is not a legitimate EDC knife even for "self-defense." It's a really cool Rambo-knife that will get you, if not arrested, will at the very least begin a very 'interesting' discussion with authority figures ending in possible confiscation. It's designed as a mock combat knife, not a box opener, and really has no business being carried on the street. Although the handle shape is genius in terms of use as a work knife.

I can open it one handed with just a little move of my hand, so don't talk tough.
Also you should be able to open it directly out of your pocket.
If you can do neither of this, you should delete this video and never let us hear about you ever again.

CS Spartan owner here. I LOVE this fantasy knife but lets face it, this is not a legitimate EDC knife even for "self-defense." It's a really cool Rambo-knife that will get you, if not arrested, will at the very least begin a very 'interesting' discussion with authority figures ending in possible confiscation. It's designed as a mock combat knife, not a box opener, and really has no business being carried on the street. Although the handle shape is genius in terms of use as a work knife.
