So she turned her back on her country that made her into the player she is, just so she could fulfill her selfish ambition of competing in the Olympics, and that too against her own country. Sad.
@drmnys well she was also kicked off the team because of her age and level PLUS China has just so many players... retired players can't make a very good living in China how is she selfish? her country turned her off and thousands of others why can't she do the same? look at singapore most of their players are cast offs why should they help china?
@lazy8books you are critisizing the delivery of someone who placed 5th in the 2008 Olympis after spending several years in retirement. take a minute to think about what you saying. i bet she forgot more about table tennis that you will ever know.
@lazy8books I'll bet you anything that if you ask Timo himself if he dares to claim he used to be the best TT player in the world. NOT a single second he is the best TT player in the world. Walder said that and everybody accepted. As for Timo... he is good, but overcome the Chinese is away from his ability.
Age is not too big a problem, especially for women players. It is because their games tend to require less power and less court coverage. Being consistent and experienced in reading the games of both sides are more important. But no doubt, coaches are very important.
If she is little older than 30s then she cannot beat hardcore players from beijing who are in their early 20s. It is simple matter of biology and tennis is world of speed and sharp reaction that require people in their before or early 20s.
But you see, Wang Chen isn't the best of all times. Therefore, we can't compare her to someone like Waldner, who is an icon in the table tennis world. No doubt she's good, but people like Waldner or even Wang Liqin who's in his thirties now, cannot be compared to players like Wang Chen.
WHO'S NOT REPRESENTED BY A BORN IN CHINA???when Chinese are finally able to freely travel, watch out world for the Chinese flood... Middle Easterns will look Chinese, Indians will speak chinese, Africans will dance chinese, Frenchmen sweet-talk Chinese and USA will rap chinese!!! Then the world will be united as ONE BIG CHINA!
and badminton =o..but no offence.. i dun mean lee chong wei is not that good..its just luck..well lee chong wei is good too..his world 2nd best player ^^

The training condition is like... crap.
Forgive my choice of word, this is even far from good level of American Ameture TT condition.
