i was left speechless when this finally got to england....still incredible today the early records...new york wasnt ready for DRI...they dont know what hit them
Ah chinga! de donde sacaron este maldito video? IMBECILES SUCIOS Y PODRIDOS!! del primer EP ..... se ve y se escucha con madres! Saludos desde Tepic, Nay. MEXICO
history` s a lesson lets learn by our mistakes...just dont expect to make sense out of all you see....i can tell you now that knowing is believing....
I first saw these guys when I was 13, and my first thought was that they were speaking directly to me. Most people will never get what it was like being a working class kid during the Reagan Administration in a fucking public school in LA. I was so pissed off, angry, and frustrated, and these were my anthems. It was an innocent time of sorts. We created our own entertainment, nobody got rich, and we told the establshed media to keep all their bullshit and shove it up their asses. Yeah
Thats bullshit man i am 42 and was a hardcore punk......Thrash was never never never simmilar to harcore.....Never! Dri was from Houston I saw em in 83 and 84 85 86 I lived in san antonio They played here alot.....Wasnt till around 86 they went crossover
@pittrats speed metal? really? you need to listen to more D.R.I as they are not speed metal, maybe thrash metal after the crossover, but real punk to me, hard core punk rock.
My band opened for these guys probably during this tour in Minneapolis. I remember Kurts hair looked like he had given himself a haircut while driveng drunk. Nice buch of guys, kick ass band live.
this band is pure energy, and thats why theyre in the books. they may not have done the same later, but who knows what that audience would look like if they actually kept up with those songs. eric brecht is insanely fast. props to kurt too for spillin that angsty angst.
The video isn't synched up with the audio. Otherwise... this is a clear example of how sonically formidable these guys were in their prime.

No, it's Tharsh. Tharsh.
Actually, it's upbeat post-77 thrashcore grindpunk.
Labels for music get silly sometimes. Don't get wrapped around the axel about it. It's great music, let's just enjoy it.

definition of punk DRI even after they crossed over to speed metal their roots were punk. Listen up kids,Green Day is NOT punk,THIS IS!

coudlnt have said it better :D

But sadly they did cross to speed metal.
ThySchmoes 3 years ago
I agree. This clip shows when DRI were one of the best bands out there. As the metal set in they just didn't have the same power and intensity.
