  • I work at zappos in Louisville Kentucky where this was filmed and they don't even use this anymore. I've never even seen the robots. All I've seen are the black marks on the ground where they used to be.

  • God forbid people walk around. HUMANS WERE MEANT TO STAND STILL OR SIT ALL DAY LONG!

  • Right on comment about American jobs. Just don't send this to China, etc.

  • every machine of any sort, whether a simple rope & pulley system to the most sophisticated robotics system, or a passenger jet, etc. They are all machines. Machines simply multiply effort or work and actually make possible things otherwise impossible. If machines actually reduced the need for manual, physical labor, then the first working animal with the first bridle would have doomed humanity. But clearly it didnt and neither will these systems here.

  • 4:45 : the old lady almost had her arm taped together with the box!!!

  • Hell yeah robots are working for us !! Hooray. Normally it should be a reason to be happy, but in this wacky world it's a reason to be scared because we're losing our jobs!! Isn't that just stupid? Why do we worry we lose our jobs if there's the robot at the service all time to work? Well, they don't work for us, they work for the owners of the company. Then who will buy the products if we got no jobs? These are questions that challenge capitalism nowdays. It was great 100 years ago ...

  • Govt schools aren't adequately teaching kids that most labor jobs are obsolete, while charging taxpayers $10-15k/year for each, and govt ensures more jobs are taken over by robots or outsourced by having the minimum wage law for the students who get an inferior education. Govt is really screwing workers both ways by pretending to be on their side.

  • How do the robots communicate so that they dont run into eachother?

  • @idioticrandomguy the robots have 2D bar-codes on the ground every 3ft or so which is unique to that location. that location is then communicated to a computer that is the traffic controller of all the robots.

  • Maybe if she had more exercise in her job she wouldn't be so overweight.

  • that is fucking awesome.

  • Automation of labor is the future of our species.

  • If you hack the bots to follow you home is that pilferating?

  • I saw this system at a warehouse recently. They had just moved from a smaller traditional warehouse . With this KIVA, they have twice the space, twice the capacity to move orders and MORE EMPLOYEES than before. The efficiencies of the system is CREATING MORE JOBS, not less.

  • Skynet is watching you!

  • This is incredible, I wish I built something like this first.

  • Cyberdyne systems model 101

  • Yes it will put people out of work. But is the solution to do things less efficiently? They could get ride of robots, conveyors, forklifts and machines and employ 400 Americans at minimum wage to push carts and carry boxes individually... just like the Amish would.

If you're worried about American jobs, buy American products (so stop going to Wal-Mart) but don't criticize American companies for being competitive through efficiency!

  • @ScubaJonL In fact this is the only way to compete with ultra cheap foreign labor. I agree with everything you said.

  • @ScubaJonL Hard to find American products.. I agree with you 100%, we should be willing to pay a lot more for american products, but a lot of things aren't even made here at all.

  • @ScubaJonL That's fine and dandy but no one wants to work for minimum wage except mexicans. Our kids want to be famous super stars and smoke weed and be on Real World.

  • its a pretty good looking system but it could put plenty of hard working Americans with families out of a job

  • Get used to it the future is robots doing the jobs of people.

  • It´s an amazing machine, speaking about costs and efficiency. The side effect is that most human skills are not technology-oriented so they will be left aside.

Could be a bad thing for the future unless HR areas focus a lot more on tranning people.

The fact is that technology won't wait for no one, so you must be updated or be removed.

  • This makes a lot of sense.

  • F kiva! i work in a warehouse and we just put in Kiva and it takes jobs! You know who Kiva is good for? The people that own the company. Not the people that work for them. Keep things old fashon!

  • Change social system is the only way because this type of thing will spread and spread. First thing to go will be low paying jobs like cleaning and warehouses etc. Our social system will fall as it should and sooner would be better than later.

  • In the year 2525, some machine doing that for you. Who will be the last american worker standing? Be sure to turn off the robots before you die.

  • I looked up the Autostore. That's an impressive system. I think you get more density with the autostore, but the inherent efficiency of Kiva probably wins out for most buyers. Kiva is clearly can be deployed quicker, it should have lower fixed costs, and the system appears to be more flexible if you have to move to another warehouse or sell it. (Autostore has a large build-out of the rack system and all the operator interface points). I'll bet Kiva is cheaper per SKU too.

  • I like these comments even more than the clip...

  • Felisha... ♥_♥

  • How am i supposed to reporgram these to take over the world in a blood uprining when they have no guns on them!? Who makes these silly robots!!?

  • You can't. What you can do is use these robots to make a factory that makes Robots who can do finer and finer work. Sure its a long way off, but keep using machines to increase efficiency, eventually the robots will be doing all the work.

Then the robot world will seem so perfect, that the humans will think they aren't a threat and give them more and more intimate control of their individual lives.

Just like the world is doing with Government right now.

  • far out

  • Pixar made a movie about this. IT WAS AWESOME.

  • pretty fucking cool even if it does take away my job

  • America is great at finding resources to replace the American worker. undiesinabunch maybe right 90% of us may soon have to work in a whorehouse to earn a buck.

  • Nope, robot whores are already on the market in japan.

Give or take 20 years and the only job left will be owning a company.

  • Monetary system has to go because robots will be doing almost all human jobs aside from scholarly soon enough. Best thing you can do is become 100% self sufficient so you don't need money to pay anyone for anything.

  • Fewer warehouse workers.

    More whorehouse workers.

  • Love it when the lady says I can do about twice the work. Yeah laddy...twice the work for the same pay. So in reality Zappos can give you a pay cut.....gotta love it.

  • Yea, but she's doing twice the work with half the effort, so it kinda balances out. But the way the economy is, a pay cut is probably still possible.

  • Das Bessere ist der Feind des Guten

  • i would love to tweek the programming...

    ^.^

  • you know they're db is running gnu/linux!

  • NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!! HYUCK!

  • yeah blabla i just noticed the girl

  • Robots or not the chick packing has a NICE ass ftw

  • @mycurse333 DUDE I just watched this video in class today and thats the first thing I thought when I saw that chick! Hahaha!

  • The RobOtS are taking all the JOBS; THINK Of ThE EcOnOmY!!!

  • sauce head is an idiot

    felicia is hot

  • Is Felicia the hottie with the black shirt and jean? YUM!

  • They took r jobs!!!

  • just dont make them to smart

  • This is awesome, Bye Bye Humans.

  • Terminator :O

  • Yeah, the last thing Big Red needs is to be doing any walking.

  • I agree, LMAO... I was thinkin the same thing!

  • falesha can get it

  • ...kinda awesome.

  • this is kinda scary

  • Not scary it's just the future adapt to it.

  • This isn't the first time in history something like this has happened. During the Industrial Revolution numerous jobs became obsolete. People then adapted just as we will now. I really don't see humans becoming "obsolete" anytime in the near future.

  • All aboard the Axiom...

  • That's amazing but scary. It's just like the old scifi movies predicted!!!

  • nice one :)

  • It's only a matter of time before EVERYTHING is automated. Then, we shall get drunk everyday and society will crumble and the machines will take over and start to control our minds by constantly stimulating the pleasure centers of our brain.

    I can't wait.

  • Really robots becoming more common could sway either way. We could let them take over everything and we could become lazy and stupid simply because they do most things for us. On the other hand they could take the easier jobs off our hands then we could have more time for our families and even furthering our education, therefore bettering the world in many ways. Based on the laziness and stupidity in the world already I think we will soon see the fall of man.

  • lol...

  • shrink=waste

  • felicia thurman oh yeah.

  • thank you!

  • thats awesome!!!

  • This is really awesome I would love to work there.

I know no one has said anything yet but for anyone who is going to say "OMG robots are gonna take over all the jobs" well yes they will take over jobs but if people have an education like they should then they will always be employed.

Just needed to get that out there.

  • That's the problem most of the people who works in that kind of ware house are inmigrants (legal) or people who has basic education(high school the best one) in this time where everyone is been fired from his work place this is a big problem becouse 100% of the manual labor are hand made bow in this warehouse u can see that they are using 80% robots this will encrease the amount of work for some areas but for others .... well you know what will happend ....

im not saying this isnt great

  • this is a big step for humanity becouse look the speed of the of the workers now

now easier task will be given to humans but more machines less human factor

  • well technology advancement is suppose to make work easier. just like computers.

sure it replaces some people from there jobs. but it helps productivity and saves the companies money.

it sucks for the ppl that get fired because they are being replaced by robots and computers but that's just the reality of things

  • Ya I do feel bad for people who don't have a chance to get a good education, hopefully the government will help make this transition easier by providing better education at an early age and showing children that a strong education is what will help them survive in the world. For the people that may be losing their jobs now it will be a hard transition for them. Hopefully the company's who are replacing peoples jobs will provide a good education for the workers.

  • Sadly they will not. why? easy time is money and they can afford to lose money in something that can be remplaced.

Yes some places will do this. meaby go trought some basic trainning in some areas but mostly people will get fired

  • Teach your kids yourself, go against school. There is so much information you can teach a kid from the internet to make him an expert in one area if done correctly.

  • jajajajajaja oh man da robots are starting to take over man

  • 1995 view

  • Nothing short of amazing!

  • very cool! that is innovation!

those little robots will make loads of people unemployed...

  • Great, until a top-heavy robotic shelf crushes someone... those lawsuits hurt =/

*can already tell I'm going to be bad-rated for thinking*

  • Wow, thats incredible.

I would love to work there.

  • Two locations: Las Vegas, Nevada and Shepherdsville, Kentucky where is this at?

    Very Interesting

  • Wow. Incredible.
