Interestingly enough, it is rumored that there is a photo taken of the HMHS Brittanic as she sank.  The photo, if it does indeed exist, might be able to shed more light upon how she actually sank, as well as give collectors and buffs some shred of that day.

One of the nurses who survived the sinking was a survivor from the Titanic on which she had been a stewardess.

@dragonball740 HMHS Britannic was the longest of the three, because Harland & Wolff decided to make changes to her after Titanic went down. They added an extra skin of steel to her, but they couldn't do it without making her longer then the other two, but hey, I'm not going bore you with a complete history of how HMHS Britannic came about.

@tturi2 The lucitania looks almost identical to Britannic laying on her starboard side virtually intact, but it is the Britannic in this illutration, made up of photos of where she sank in the Med, Luctiania lies 11miles off the Irish coast, she looks in slightly worse condition, and the massive hole from the torpedo cant be seen (It hit on the side she is lying on.)

@Jemalacane It's in the eye of the beholder. But ships today are completely different from ships of the Edwardian age. Modern ships have no need for steam, boilers, funnels or anything of the sort. There is no longer a distinct separation of classes. Not to mention that most ships today that serve passengers really are more for pleasure or vacationing, rarely for actual transatlantic transportation.

@Jemalacane Because, the boats which are currently being viewed, cannot withstand our way of living, for instance, the electrics on the boat is probably very weak, and only has one generator, as for the ones today, they have multiple. Also, these were much much more likely to sink. So meh.

And because smoke stacks have been irrelevant since when we stopped burning millions of tons of sooty coal at sea. And because today's ships require far more hydro and aerodynamic efficiency to conserve the cleaner burning fuel that they do use... And because when you hit an ice-berg any ship will look a lot prettier still-floating because of a double hull...

I remember reading one interesting story about the Olympic. I don´t know exactly which year it happened, but the story goes:

The Olympic was sailing not very far from where the Titanic had sunk, when suddenly, the whole ship began to shake for about two minutes. It was the result of an underwater earthquake.
