everyone knows about this track now but imagine driving around in your car the day after this was released & hearing this for the 1st time when only a tiny TINY percentage of the entire planet knew who this guy was because that's what i was lucky enough to experience 1st hand....i can say i'm truly sorry for those who were too young to have been there in 1989 to really REALLY see/hear the entire scope of the picture...experience always trumps assumption

The thing is, when he first started performing as NIN, his fans were people who respected the music. They cheered during breaks between verse and chorus, for example. Nowadays, some of the people who attend his concerts are annoying little EMO or kindergoth who just. don't. get. it. They think THEY'RE cool for listening to his music. Yeah, I feel the same with songs like this and 'Hurt'. Singing along is one thing but talking through quiet parts of a song can be annoying. That's why I don't always go standing to gigs anymore cos a lot of people just talk through a lot of the quieter moments and not listening to the song.

I've been to most gigs that have been worth standing at and done the madness so now I go seated if I know the band will play songs like this so I can appreciate the music
