  • Johnny Cash originally recorded "The Ballad of Boot Hill" in 1959 and released the song as part of a Columbia EP (Extended Play 45 featuring four songs). The song was included on the 1965 Columbia album Sings the Ballads of the True West. The song also appears on the 1992 Columbia compilation album The Essential Johnny Cash: 1955-1983.

  • Great voice on a great man with great tits.

  • @papashangofan great tits?

  • Great song of a great time.

  • All J C done is geat songs!

  • Song begins at 1:20

  • Theoretically those men weren't killed but immortalised forever. Sure they felt different at the time but they are renowned throughout the world due t dying in that gun fight

  • The writer of "The Ballad of Boot Hill" is Carl Perkins, who also wrote the #1 hit "Daddy Sang Bass" for Johnny Cash in 1968, "So Wrong" for Patsy Cline in 1961, the #1 hit "Let Me Tell You About Love" for The Judds in 1989, "Silver and Gold" for Dolly Parton in 1991, "Restless" in 1968, and his own #1 million seller from 1956, "Blue Suede Shoes".

  • I could listen to Johnny Cash narrate anything...Great song!...R.IP. Mr. Cash.

  • It was Ike Clanton who said he didn't want to fight and ran away after it started. Billy Clanton was apparently quite willing to do battle, since the majority of damage inflicted on the Earp party was inflicted by his gun. Supposedly, he shouted "God damn you, I've got to kill one of you before I die!" to the Earps and was still trying to cock his gun and saying something like "one more shot, please, one more shot" as he lay mortally wounded in the street.

  • wish I could of heard you live ...

  • Starting listening to Cash in 1994 when I was in high school. He is the only musician I know of that a wide range of audiences, young and old listen to. He had the voice of God. Johnny Cash will always be a friend of mine. Miss ya and RIP my friend!

This video shows all the touristy spots but when u walk down the wooden sidewalks & actually feel some of the oldest bldgs. w/your fingertips.. To start a town literally in the middle of sage, cacti &dirt took lots of guts & a vision~the american spirit! If you can...ride the desert on 2 wheels, take Route 66 ,FANTASTIC! SQ1

  • Interesting Americana. Love photos used in video and Cash of course. 1882 is pretty recent really.

  • seems suitable for Dr quinn medicine woman in which Jhonny has the role of Kid Cole!

  • I have never heard Johnny sing that song before. I love it! Great video!

  • I first saw Tombstone in Jan 1963. The roads were still dirt. There was a shotgun in the window of a store. It made a 10gauge look small. Must have been and 8 gauge. The barrels were maybe 14 inches long. It was gone in 1987. The roads were paved. sniff

  • doc holiday... typical cop..a sign of things to come.... too bad the west isnt wild anymore, now everyone is a UNION slave... wish I could of been here before the west was won... must of been an incredible country... it makes me sad to think about what weve lost as a country and how it will probably never return to its glory

  • You sound like a Johnny Reb. Civil wars been over a long time ago.

  • My great great grandpa was and his 2 brothers. they were all under 18. i"m very proud of my " johnny reb " heritage..

  • pay attention to whats goin on now. no different, and no its not about race.. race aside its the same politics the union wants everyone to conform with a new way of life ,taxes , laws etc with a "new liberal" way of thinking and its really just lies and deceit with even greater constraints on freedom and liberty in the good old usa.. im not buying into it .. Obama is a liar the republicans are full of shit as well, only solution is for states to withdraw from the so called UNION South=metaphor

  • Way down yonder in the land of cotton, things have changed but they aint been forgotten.

  • Amazing Im going to vist tombstone one of these days.

  • Such a great song!

  • Police accused of being fearful in tackling culprits over citys growing toll of racial assaults THE number of white victims of racist attacks in a Yorkshire city has risen 30 per cent in a year to more than 300 and police have been accused of being afraid to take on the culprits

  • I'm from Leeds, whereabouts are you talking about? That's pretty shocking

  • thats sad if they are afraid. id show them true fear.

  • ya ya.. and its like a piece of trach blows around in the wind- and u try to catch it and it just keeps blowing away-

  • A true american epic and its true!! I love my countrys history.the good and the bad it shapes us as a whole and bc of heros like cash it is immortal

  • This is a goosebumps song! I like it a lot! And this part of the history somehow fascinates me. That was "only" about 130 years ago!

  • GREAT song penned by Carl Perkins.....LOVE IT!!!!

    Thank You Hammer!!!!

  • Cash can write & sing music w/meaning

  • I'm not american but the song is great...

  • It's not about "being american", it's all about "Think about my words, make your own thoughts!"

That's what Johnny wanted, I guess.

  • I've never been to America, but I've never met an American I didnt like.

  • absolutly!

  • thank you for those kind words

  • hahaha finally someone who isn't so preocupied being mean to americans ;) ty for kind words if its for the natives or for the overall country i respect the natives more than myself....

  • @pontyfaxjr you have the south and the north and they have both difrent belives and opinion but i have to admit i like the south more

  • great song great video.thanks all the way form limerick ireland ..... boot hill part 2

  • I love America

  • We all do. Semper fi!

  • keep that to urself, we dont want to know ur opinion. And if u dont love the US u dont love anyting worth loving.

  • what makes you feel that way? I am personally not an overly patriotic person, but I don't bash the US or any country for that matter since I have the ability to see that everything under the sun has both positive and negative aspects, but I'm curious.

  • It's a matter of fact, that through media and personal experiences in developing countries like the Philippines, the USA is a kind of red banner for me.

I don't want to creat the impression, that there is a country I like more, but if anybody declares the USA to a loved country I am able to set something against that.

I have to add that I think of government as a danger in any case.

But this is also based on personal eperiences and not on ideological ignorance.

  • Fair enough. It would be silly for one to think that everyone loves the US, especially when it is flaunted on the news the venomous hatred so many have for us.

  • Thats ur opinion, nobody cares what u think.

  • Really ? I'm deeply hurt.

  • dude dont be an ass

  • Im not an ass, im just chilling here.

    Take it EC

  • @Hammerofthegods32 it sickens me

  • @demokratieistunsinn See..see there is the problem...not in political, economical, national, or anything else people just love bombarding anywhere they can get their opinion in. But the problem with the internet today...is people using it to mask themselves so they are free to post their opinion in a myspace about me, facebook bulliten or for fucks sake even a Johnny Cash video on youtube.

  • @demokratieistunsinn No one cares what you hate or what you love, Politics and religion...It's all over the news we don't need you and your supreme opinions plastered like horrible, random, dating site banners in the comments box on any site that allows you to type something and post it. Sick of these pseudo revolutionist who get on the internet like a second-rate John Glenn because they can't make a godamn difference in real life and their life is nothing special.

  • @bahoss I Hate America, But they got some good people.

  • @brolvoo What defines a country but the people in it?

  • @bahoss ..I don't.....

incredible;matched the narration and song perfectly.

Thank you so much for this video.

  • A fascinating, and sad, ballad. No surprise that it was brought to us by JC.

The video really brought the song to life.

    Thanks.

    JCRS
