Can anyone tell me where the white armored samurai got his armor? Im going into the SCA with some friends of mine and I need to know where he got his armor. ANy help would be appreciated. Or it could be SCA approved armor from anywhere, not neccesarially his. Although I would like samurai armor though.
I made mine. Does it look perfect no but it looks like it is supposed to and it is cheaply made (I am a college student so I don't have a lot of money lol) I made mine when I was about 16/17 so it isn't overly hard to do. If you do a search on yahoo or google you can probably fine plans for what you are looking for.

historically, the only time anything like a shield was implemented by the Japanese was to provide cover for archers, much like the Pavises of Europe. swordsmen on the other hand defeated or were defeated by opponents through use of offensive weapons. i have seen the use of tessens though.
It may be that he hasn't authorized in anything else. Everyone who wants to fight heavy has to do sword and shield before moving on to any other style.
I fight with japanese/samurai armor (other then my helmet) and I still fight sword/shield just because of that reason.
Well I really don't know the answer to that question other then it may go against their code of honor, Bushido. Kind of like die with honor rather then hide and live. Also most of the weapons that they used were mainly two handed weapons. The katana could be used either way I believe but generally two hands are used so they never really developed shields.

okay, Mitsu has a "Do," thus marking him as say Japanese in flavor. SAMURAI DON'T USE SHIELDS..... EVER!!!!!!! it is considered an act of cowardice.
