Guys, what exactly was Red "exiled" for?? I used to hang out in Elgin where he "lived", but no one will spill - I know he ended up living with Champion Jack Dupree for a while, but he can't get a legit job or do anything on paper here in U.S. - anyone know for sure?
I don't know of any exile. I know that he moved to Germany around 20 years ago for the money. I consider Red a friend and backed him up on his last tour. He comes here to play a little, see friends, etc. Here, he gets $15/head and 50-100 people show up. In France, Spain, Britain, & Germany, he'll get $25-$40/head and 500 show up.
Sorry, perhaps you don't understand me, because I wrote in Hungarian. So I had a great experience in Izmir, Turkey, more than '20 years after your video'. I watched and listened to Louisiana Red on EFES Int. Blues Festival, in Hotel Hilton. (2002 ???) He was great and when he noticed my wife (she is blondie) he came down from the stage and sang to her.....It was fantastic, I made photo also about them and everybody drank EFES bears, what is a good Turkish drink.
Yea, Red. I was lucky to play with him a couple of times. When he steps into the room with his stiff leg, THE BLUES walks in. He must have the biggest hands that I ever shook. Great vid! I still use the brass bottleneck he gave me.
I can't leave without giving a shout out to Charles "Honey Boy" Otis, I love the man, you are a fantastic person, a great musician. You played in my band in NY at 'Dan Lynch's", early '80s. You are the best.
Excuse me, I gotta throw some love to Queen Sylvia, we played together many times in Chicago, I'm so glad to see you here. I'll always love you. It has been an honor to be friends with all of you. Jimmy, Carey Bell, RIP, you are missed.
I've played with Charles Otis. I couldn't help but call him Mr. Otis, even though he would always say, in his gravely voice, "Call me Charles."

The Blues!
I met Red in Finland few years ago...
He was playing with the Wentus Bluesband in Oulu.
We had gig with The Blues Blackmail in same restaurant, 45. Red heard us and said;
" I heard You jammin down stairs and I felt some kind of home sick to old Chicago"
What else could young guy ever want to hear form his Idol?!?!

Louisiana Red! It's so good to see you! I know you are a genius! the song you wrote, "Too Poor to Die", is perhaps the best lyrics ever written!
Queen Sylvia Embry, Carey Bell, Jimmy Rogers, this video is a classic, thank you Harpsucker for posting.
Red, I love ya, buddy!
