Does that ring a bell..? It's about a girl he once met on a train, and would never see again... in itself rather a Morrissey theme!

Thanks for this effort - however I don't necessarily agree on the link between There is a light that never goes out and Alfred Tennyson's work (or it must have been something Morrissey had said himself).

There does seem to be a clear link between the song and a Dutch 19th century poem by Piet Paaltjes called 'Aan Rika' (To Rika). Dutch fans will often know this. An excerpt from the poem goes like this:
