  • i dident know that denver CO had tornados hmmmmmmm ive lived in nederland Co between denver and bulder and have never ever seen a tornado we travled to denver all tha time

  • this would scare the shit out of me if i was sleeping and heard this

  • poor crissgirl99. also, poor cows!

  • Who cares what siren it was but this storm was on my birthday and I had a bunch of friends over!! that was the worst birthday and a tree split in half and landed on top of my friends house and the power was out for 3 days where I live. It was horrible it was like millions of kids throwing balls of hail at us and the tornado went through my neighbors back yard it was soooooo scary!!!

  • I remember, I was in Denver at the time of this tornado. I witnessed a lot of spectacular lightning.

  • I remember that day I was out working cows when that storm hit the cows went everywhere my horse bucked me off I had to run back to my truck to get away from it

  • I was so scared that day. I was at the Mile High Flea market.

  • party alrm

  • wow now waking up to that sound must be scary! nice video! we used to have thoes sirens go off but the tornado would just go around my city haha.

  • That sounds like Aurora sirens, unless that part of Denver has a completely different model of siren than is used in the downtown area.

  • i remember this night -- my best friend and i chased the storm in my brand new truck lol. littleton had trees in the road. looked like it had snowed.

  • I live near olde town arvada, and was out with friends when this tornado hit.

  • Whelen!

  • I remember this -- this was the night of that crazy hailstorm. Over here in Lakewood, we were obliterated -- my house looked like it was riddled with bullets. A couple of tornadoes touched down East of us, but we were still hit with a ton of damage...5 busted windows, siding trashed, roofing had to be replaced....I had welts from the hail it was so bad (hurt worse than painballs!)

  • Yeah that hailstorm was a level 6 supercell that moved from the north-northwest. Downtown we just got torrential rain and flash flooding like I've not seen in over 2 decades.

  • Yeah I hear those sirens a lot downtown. Saw one building get struck by lightning.. it was scary, and loud!!

  • Good old Colorado! We have had a lot of tornadoes this past summer.

  • i was there! i was so scared. the tornado hit my house and i was home alone. i cried haha. it was an amazing experience though. i didnt even hear the siren until after it hit.

  • and HOLY shit, i live in Thornton. i must have missed this.

  • My dad lives 8 hours sw of Denver, I am surprised no tornadoes have hit the Telluride-Montrose-Grand Junction area.

  • Tornadoes over there are less common, mostly because that is a mountainous area. All of our Denver/Colorado tornadoes happen to the east.

  • definetley some type of whelen

  • Denver has a wide variety of sirens. I've seen some Thunderbolts and a 2001. There are also some 2001s around DIA

  • Whoa u can't see a thing in this video

sounds like a Whelen goin off

  • i was about to say the same thing

  • man i missed this whole thing, i was too busy screwin around at bandimere this day

  • Yep.. I defiantly hear whelens. HA HA I live in Louchbuie Co!! (It says it on the storm radio) My aunt and uncle live pretty close to you and its infested with Whelens, its a shame.

  • That is actually an Aurora Siren. Denver doesn't have those kind of sirens. That siren is located on Dayton Road

  • I noticed a siren mounted on a pole Just East of the Walmart property on Dayton Road adjacent to the JFK Golf Course. That must be the one I heard as that was the direction it came from. I live here practically on the border of Denver and Aurora, so, I wasn't sure if that siren was within the Denver city limits or Aurora.

  • Lous - I also went to your Youtube channel and watched your video with photos and Google Earth maps showing the different locations of the sirens in the Aurora area. There obviously are a lot of warning sirens within the city of Aurora!

  • Ya I know, also found out that the city is planning on installling 11 new sirens in the eastern area.

  • I don't know if Houston has any tornado sirens - - - I live in Houston, I noticed that Austin, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Denver has it. I used to think tornadoes would miss a major city but I was wrong.

  • @Austingirl0499: Troglodytic happens to be right, but it could still happen, even in Grand Junction.

  • True enough. Denver sirens are totally different. I was only in Aurora once in a tornado warning and I noticed the sirens were very different sounding than Denver's.

  • whats crazy is that i can here those sirens all the way to northglenn

  • The siren(s) heard are Whelen-3016s or one of the 2900 series.

  • 2900 series

  • man that sucks! i live in golden, colorado but im in new mexico right now and glad i missed the whole storm. our roommate at our house said that the storm completely missed golden. whew.

  • Bill, Joe here. Man, That's scary - almost sounds like the bombs are coming, the bombs are coming =) I glad you are okay. Joe in Redondo Beach, CA (No Tornados, but excessive heat)

  • holy crap I thought there was a tornado but it completely missed me and I never heard a siren (I'm to the west of Denver)

  • Two tornados touched down briefly, one south of Castle Rock and the second in Englewood, but neither caused significant damage.

  • i enjoy watching storms but the destruction they leave is horendos
