  • This is typical of mormons not wanting to hear any information that could possibly be adverse to what they have always believed. It is truly amazing every time how people can harden their hearts against learning and check it off as 'anti-mormon'. That is true brainwashing and indicative of people who belong to a cult. If mormons were actually Christian and honest with themselves, they would welcome the chance to talk with Rob and many others about truth. But like the kids in the video...nah.

  • It's like watching a bully...everyone should juat take a breath and realize that this is an example of evangelical brainwashing...he's entirely unaware of any other points of veiw and cannot reason properly...Christ would likely love such individuals so much that they can regain control of theor faculties...love enables others to come to Christ

  • I wonder if Rob would have accused Abraham, David, and Solomon of not being real men of God since they had more than one wife. Solomon had 700.

  • @lindalds Good to see you standing up for lds beliefs. The problem with this screecher preacher is he is likely from the school of thought that thinks all there is to know is between the two lids of the bible. To make it worse, he thinks his interpretation of it is the correct one. It's a tired position that is losing steam - or hot air - however you want to think of it.

  • @allzago ya, as mormons we admit that the Bible by itself is open to all different sorts of interpretation, which is why we claim the need for additional revealed scripture. without our restoration scriptures like the book of mormon, ours is just another interpretation in a sea of many.

  • @PCEggo Well spoken. The Book of Mormon is awesome, and there is no doubt here. Sometimes I think that if I hear one more Evangelical assert that "faith alone" baloney I'm going to wish him to drown in the sea of ignorance. And then when I am thinking rationally, all I can do is feel pity because they refuse to listen.

  • This guy is lost.

  • lol retard, those are ex-mormons

  • its just easy to deny a dead person

  • You know, if someone is going to do something like this, they should do their homework, first. I have no doubt, 99% of the Mormons that heard this were scratching theri heads and wondering, "What IS that guy talking about?" If you are going to preach against what Mormons believe, you need to first KNOW what Mormons believe, and this guy doesn't seem to know what Mormons believe. He only knows what the anti-Mormons SAY Mormons believe.

  • 1st) Rob Sivulka and people like myself, get our information from Mormon sources (BOM, D&C, POGP, LOF, JOD, etc), and we read the books that your presidents publish too. 2nd) We find that many Mormons do not know "Official LDS doctrine", so we have to educate them, since many have their pet doctrines and do not believe the words in the BOM. 3rd) Rob is married to a former Mormon and lives in Salt Lake. Many of my associates are former Mormons. Would like to talk to them too?

  • I joined the LDS church in 1979. I was 21 years old (you do the math).

30 active years of Sunday School, Relief Society, Institute classes, General and Stake conferences, scripture study, and almost 25 years of attending the temple.

WHEN am I ever going to be taught this "official LDS doctrine" that this guy talks about, but I have NEVER been taught in my church? BTW, same stats for my husband. He is now the 2nd assistant in the High Priests group. So, no help there.

    When?

  • The LDS church is very good at hiding its history and doctrine, just look at Gordon B. Hinckleys answers when questioned by the press about whether man can become a god, and whether or not God was once a man. The church has never really acknowledged that Smith had scores(34-85?) of wives (11 were currently married to other men too-- See "In Sacred Loneliness by Todd Compton) If you really are looking for truth, you can always call me at 253-279-1535 or call one of my friends.

  • They aren't hiding anything. Just because they don't explain things the way you think they should does not mean they are hiding anything.

I liked all the answers he gave. he explained things quite well.

I don't have to call you to get the truth. You don't know the truth. You just think you do.

I know the truth. I'll call you if you want to hear the truth.

  • Go ahead and call me, I would like to hear the truth.

  • OK, but it's the same thing you find on MORMONdotORG, FAIRLDSdotORG, and other such places.

  • rjpilch...no offence, but I've yet to meet one street preacher who sincerely wanted to hear the truth, especially about LDS beliefs. They won't even accept the truth about what constitutes official LDS doctrine, so why would they accept anything else we (LDS) have to say? (Just an observation.)

  • rjpilch....I'll pass on your offer, thanks. After years of dealing with anti-Mormons, I've learned that they don't have a good track record for truth telling. They believe that it's okay to lie about LDS beliefs if it cons someone into leaving the church. I've accused many of them of doing it, and none has ever denied it. Several have openly admitted it to me, in fact. Yet, they can street preach and yell about others being liars and how they're going to hell for it. Why should I believe them?

  • @rjpilch Gordon B. Hinckley didn't lie or hide anything. He simply said he didn't know. You're the one that just lied. We do learn that Joseph Smith was married to more than one wife. Going to you won't bring anyone to the truth of anything.

  • @lindalds Your hubby is 2nd assistant in the HP group? Cool! That what I am in my ward, LOL. Tell hubby hi for me.

  • I'll bet that contrary to what you claim, you don't know what constitutes "official doctrine" either. I've spoken to many anti-Mormons in past years, and not one of them really knew what official LDS doctrine was. They claimed they did, but when I educated them on the subject, they claimed I was lying to them, lol. I have NO REASON to lie about my own beliefs.

  • @JediMormon Don't you know? We don't know what we believe! They are there to educate us!

  • @lindalds "They are there to educate us!" LOL...the only education I get from anti-Mormonism types any more is when one of them comes up with yet another idiotic claim I haven't heard before. Admittedly, there are some anti-Mormonism folks who can carry on a reasonable discussion with out hyperventilating, but they are definitely in the minority. If those folks spent as much time reading the Bible as they do dissing LDS, they would be all the better for it.

  • @rjpilch Fact is, the people who came to see the pageant did NOT come to listen to some loudmouth on a bull horn. HOW RUDE can these antimormons be? So unwelcome.

When missionaries go from door to door, and people are irritated with the visit, they can merely say, NOT INTERESTED, and the missionaries MOVE ON and don't press and be rude. But these guys violate human decency by violating people's space using the extremes of the law, like someone legally BLASTING MUSIC at 9 PM. Just rude.

  • @rjpilch It's interesting. You say we don't know what we believe. If we don't believe what we supposedly believe, then what's the problem? If what we don't know we believe is wrong, then why are you telling us what we believe? Why don't you just keep quiet, if you think that what we don't know we believe is wrong?

(pssst! hey, Mormon! You don't know it, but this is what you believe! And you are wrong to believe what you don't know you believe! So you better not believe it anymolre!)

  • @rjpilch In other words you give your version of so-called "official LDS doctrine". I've seen what people like you claim we believe. Trust me, you do not give LDS doctrine.

@"Rob is married to a former Mormon and lives in Salt Lake. Many of my associates are former Mormons. Would like to talk to them too?"

Do you know how many times I've heard that crap? Being an ex-mormon doesn't mean you know all about the church.

  • @lindalds AMEN!!

  • ...gosh they flock like a herd of vultures.

  • Amen!

Lord willing, I look forward to meeting you this year at Manti 2009!

  • @ReformedEvangelist How would it be if the Mormon missionaries went from door to door, and when someone said "NOT INTERESTED" the missionaries pulled out their bull horns and began to teach the first discussion from the sidewalk? How would it be? Gospel in your face. That's why the mormon missionaries DON'T behave this way. Its rude and its wrong. Why can't some evangelicals understand this basic human principle of decency?

  • @mormonanswerman - What would you be willing to do if I was perishing and going to Outer Darkness? How far would you go to warn me of the impending doom? Would you want me to continue in a state of being offencive to Heavenly Father just because I said "NOT INTERESTED"? If you ask me that is a violation of human decency...

I wish nothing more than to warn the LDS people of the coming judgment and have them truly flee to Christ for salvation.

  • @ReformedEvangelist What will you do when you get there and find out we were right all along?

  • @lindalds ... I think his reply will be something like, 'OOPS!" :oP

  • @lindalds - According to your Theology It will be no big deal... I'll go to the Terrestrial Kingdom and I'll be in the presence of Christ. I just won't fulfil the Law of Eternal Progression. You on the other hand if you continue to put of your repentance will be sealed with the Devil.

However if you are wrong you will face outer darkness for all eternity.

  • @ReformedEvangelist No, I don't have that much knowledge of the gospel, plus I don't reject the gospel. I have not put off repentance of any of my sins. Unless you are referring to repenting of being a Mormon, in which case, your post makes no sense. If being a Mormon is a sin, then there is no such thing as Outer Darkness, or the Terrestrial Kingdom. And if I'm right, I have nothing to worry about.

  • @ReformedEvangelist ... I would suggest that the violation of human decency is when you make blanket statements that condemn all Mormons to hell. Jesus taught with love. "Here's what I have to offer." You folks are like "ALL Mormons are evil, liars, etc". The problem is, I have asked many anti-Mormonism folks what they have to offer me, that is better than what I already have. After proving to them that I believe in the Biblical Jesus, they were all stuck for an answer.

  • @JediMormon - "You folks are like "ALL Mormons are evil, liars, etc"...." This is basically a blanket statement that you accuse me of.

All I have to offer is the Truth... And regarding the "Biblical Jesus" we will have to define our terms. Even Gordon B. Hinkley stated that we (LDS) do not speak of the "Traditional Jesus".

The Bible declares that if you have not the Son you have not the Father... We both can't be right?
