  • David Gilmour é o melhor (David Gilmour is better)

  • i think that gilmour is better

  • #1 if you are not a musician You have nothing to say but 'Great Job" #2 if you are a musician and you are bitching that's fine you have freedom of speech same as I and I say GO FUCK YOURSELF #3 Troll's troll because they aren't getting laid get the point

  • David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler for me are the best rock guitarplayers!

  • IF YOU LISTEN GILMOUR BEFORE...........NO NEED TO LISTEN PAGE,BUT IF YOU LISTEN PAGE BEFORE.......AFTER YOU NEED GILMOUR.........

  • Best shirt he ever wore….burn you!

  • david gilmour is awesome...

  • Gilmour is simply the best.... no comparison, he has the melody and the soul in his hands. Guitarrist should learn from this man.

  • they're both brilliant guitar player. the difference is that dave gilmour can sing better than jimmy page.

  • floyds better for trippin might i add..

  • Two bands and guitarists that people will listen to many generations from now. There is no sense or point in arguing over which is better.

  • The beginning sounds a lot like the SRV solo on "life without you". ...

  • @NickeyWhitfield

You mean TIME from Pink Floyd? March 1973.

  • @crunkalac ill take gilmour any day of the week. page sounds like shit live and needs that studio. granted he did alot of badass stuff, but that studio did more for him than he did.

  • @zac030101

"" page sounds like shit live and needs that studio.""

    Bullshite.

For example Jimmy Page played songs like No Quarter, Immigrant Song, That's The Way etc etc better live than he played them in the studio.

  • @LaughingGravy31 yeah, ok. show me 1 example where his live version sounds beter than the album.

  • @zac030101

    I just told you.

No Quarter = Madison Square Garden 1973.

Immigrant Song = Los Angeles Forum 1972.

That's The Way = Paris Theatre London 1971.

I could name numerous more examples where Page improves upon the studio version when playing live.

Type in 'Led Zeppelin Boogie Mamma' here on You Tube. His live solo is phenomenal there. Sherer brilliance.

Go on I dare you. Play it.

  • @LaughingGravy31 go on i dare you to play it? thats a stupid comment. page has always been a choppy, sloppy player live. case in point, listen to him now. the difference between page and gilmour is you hear page play, you feel gilmour play. imo page cant touch him. page was an innovater, ill give ya that.

  • @zac030101

Did you go to 'Led Zeppelin Boogie Mamma' and play it?

The only stupid comment here is from YOU when you said "Page sounds like shit live".

Look, I'm not a Pink Floyd or Dave Gilmour fan but I'd NEVER say Gilmour is shit, either live or in the studio.

Jimmy Page is one of the most respected and most admired guitarists ever and Led Zeppelin are generally seen as one of, if not THE, definitive live bands ever.

Saying Jimmy Page was 'shit live' is an idiotic statement. Childlike

  • @LaughingGravy31 no my friend. floyd is know world wide for their live shows. noone comes close. thats a fact. besides, im not the only one who thinks page needs the studio. alot more than me would agree. just like some singers need the studio.

  • @zac030101

Pink Floyd are known for the stage SHOW (lasers, lights, props etc), not their live 'music'.

Led Zeppelin are the most bootlegged live act in history. Demand for Led Zeppelin live shows outstrip all other acts. Their live DVD is the biggest selling music DVD ever.

Led Zeppelin are widely considered the greatest live act ever by many many people. They played for up to 3 and 4 hours and almost never played a song the same way twice live. Their live spontaneity is legendary.

  • @LaughingGravy31 they are know for their laser and lights but also their music. zepplin ever have a record on the charts for 14 years?? nope! not even close. but im not comparing bands. page sounded like shit live, he was usually hopped up on heroin. his solos are choppy. i personally like page better as a rhythm player. there he was awesome. people say kieth richards is the best rhythm player, id argue that page was right there with him or maybe a little bit better.

  • @zac030101

Jimmy Page didn't get into heroin until 1975.

Led Zeppelin's peak live years were 1968 to 1973. During that period they were probably the best live band the world has ever seen.

Did Pink Floyd have 8 consecutive number one albums? Nope. Did Pink Floyd break concert attendance records all over the world? Nope. You do know that Led Zeppelin have sold more albums worldwide than Pink Floyd, right?

Pink Floyd didn't even become really big until 1973 and their EIGHT album. LOL.

  • @LaughingGravy31 zepplin wasnt that big in '68 sorry to disappoint. in fact the first album didnt come out till 69. that ranked # 10. they didnt have 8 consecutive #1 ablums. both have sold over 200 million albums. try to get your facts right a little bit. even still, imo gilmour is better live

  • @zac030101

I didn't say Zeppelin were big in '68. I said they were great LIVE from '68 through 1973. Led Zeppelin first toured in late 1968 and wowed everybody straight away.

Zeppelin had 8 consecutive number one albums in England (where I live and both LZ and PF are English) which is the record. Not even the Beatles did that. All Zeppelin's albums from Led Zeppelin II to In Through the Outdoor all reached number 1.

  • @zac030101

Another example of Jimmy Page being better live and IMPROVING on the studio version.

The Song Remains The Same from Madison Square Gardens in 1973 is much better than the studio version of the same song. Jimmy Page's playing is far more exciting. I would say The Rain Song from the same concert also sounds better than the studio version.

  • @LaughingGravy31 dude you not going to convice me. id still love to hear what 8 consecutive nimber 1's they had. and whos still around playing today???

  • @zac030101

I already told you. In England (the homeland of both Zep and Floyd) every album Led Zeppelin released from Led Zeppelin II to In Through The Outdoor went to number 1. That's a fact. 8 number 1s on the trot.

Zep also had 6 number 1 albums in the USA and 2 albums at number 2 and even though Led Zep IV peaked at number 2 it was their biggest selling album ever with nearly 40 million sold.

ALL of Led Zeppelin's albums were top 10 and only 1 placed outside the top 2.That is phenomenal.

  • @zac030101 Led Zeppelin's album chart positions in the UK (while they were still an active band), not including compilations or posthumous releases. Led Zeppelin = 6 Led Zeppelin II =1 Led Zeppelin III=1 Led Zeppelin IV=1 Houses of the Holy=1 Physical Graffiti=1 Presence=1 The Song Remains the Same=1 In Through The Out Door=1.
  • @LaughingGravy31 maybe in the uk not in the states

  • @zac030101

Led Zeppelin were formed in late summer 1968. Their first album was a top ten smash in early 1969 with little media coverage. By the end of 1969 they had knocked the Beatles from number 1.Led Zeppelin II displaced Abbey Road and kept the Rolling Stones from the top spot (Let It Bleed).

In just a year and a half after forming, Led Zeppelin challenged both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones for title biggest band in the world.

Pink Floyd took almost a whole decade to make it huge.LOL.

  • @LaughingGravy31 Dark Side of the Moon is third best selling album of ALL TIME, suck it.

  • David Gilmour for ever ! Jimmy's sound, tone of guitar has NEVER been in 1% that godd as Gilmour's one. Cheers guys !

  • Gilmour is rubbish. I have always wanted to say that!

  • this is what i like. not a comparison. just tribute to them. i love your video!

  • this is like comparing jonas brothers and justin bieber

  • @rocksoul226

Read the description -- this is not a comparison; it is a tribute.

Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers jokes -- played out at this point.

  • @KarmicOmen read the comments. some people compare. thing about brother and biebers wasn't literal.

  • @rocksoul226

I know, and I was commenting that their comments are played out.

  • @rocksoul226 justin bieber as Page of course ...

  • @rocksoul226 Page as Justin Bieber *

  • Kinda surprised you didn't use the solo from Since I've Been Loving You. :O

  • @sharrer2

Could only fit so many per video, and then there are those songs that stand alone.

  • to play page songs you need balls, to play david songs you need soul

  • @Brandon18valensi

    Amen -- very well put!

  • @Brandon18valensi few words, a revealed truth.

  • @Brandon18valensi couldnt have said it in a better way

  • @Brandon18valensi

One of the best comments I have ever read!

  • Finally some other peope who realise these 2 are the best, Pink Floyd and Zeppelin are my 2 favourite bands of all time as well.

  • Wow. Speechless. You are very talented at descriptions and comparisons of

these 2 guitar idols. I wish David Gilmour would purchase a bottle neck slide

for his lap steel guitar. In the US, it is very common to do that and the sound is

phenomenal. Maybe in Britain they are not aware of it. But with his talent it would probably blow my mind if he played with one. My nephew sells them to some pretty important blues players. Both DG and JP are in a class by themselves and unique in every way.

  • @PinkPrism008

Robbie Krieger of The Doors played bottleneck on Moonlight Drive and I love the way that sounds. Gary Rossington and Duane Allman used a glass Coricidin bottle -- what a great sound that produces. In my opinion, Gary Rossingtonis an extremely talented player who ranks right up there with Gilmour, Page, Clapton and Allman. Jimmy Page is a great electric guitarist, but acoustic guitar is where I find Jimmy to be an exceptional player ... and wow, is he fast.

  • i like both guitarists but ill just hav to go with David Gilmour i like led zepplin jimmy paige is a great guitarist but i will hav to go with my choice because david realy puts his heart and soul into his solos, savoring every chord, mezmerizing fans with every stroke of his pick!

  • @MrKermit09 David's playing is incredibly beautiful and soulful, and Jimmy kicks it like rocket fuel. Both are my favorites! That their styles are so different makes it easier to NOT choose between them. Loyalty to and respect for both makes it impossible to choose. I must admit though, that David is the better singer of the two ;o)

  • I love this!! I never realised the In The Evening solo was so good =P, and the video at 2.40 is trippy. I always liked David Gilmour but that bit made me respect him on a whole new level =D

By the way, I liked the jerky-ness of the other Jimmy video =P it was pretty cool. I'm uploading my own Jimmy video too so check it out, should be up today =D

  • @LedHeadTillDeath

At 5:32 of my 3rd Gilmour/Page video, David's "The Blue" from 2006 is mystifying; followed by JP's beautiful "Hummingbird" from 1985. Both are brilliant and equally my favorite players. David is a soul-melter -- bends and sustains marathon notes; Jimmy is kick-ass crazy. David also has an amazing voice, which gets taken for granted over his stellar guitar works. People who know only mainstream Floyd and Zeppelin -- what a shame, as there's so much more to these two.

  • @LedHeadTillDeath

I definitely want to view your Jimmy Page video, so please be sure to let me know when it's up and running. I'm looking forward to it and will check periodically on video upload status. Hey, great screen name, Led Head -- me too, and a "Floydaholic". My 14 y/o son, a huge fan of both bands, was inspired to take up guitar. David, JP, Clapton, Moore, Slash, Hendrix -- his biggest guitar heroes! My headbanger ... makes a mom proud ;o)

  • i love gilmour but jimmy is more virtuoso

  • @poussyledzep

David Gilmour and Jimmy Page -- both are innovative, but David's style is especially unique because according to him, he had to develop his own style based on shortcomings in other areas (unbelievable as that seems). Another key difference in their playing styles is that David was always the more predictable, more disciplined player during live shows, while Jimmy never sounded the same from one concert to the next ... neither of which is necessarily a bad thing, though.

  • im gonna go with jimmy on this one

  • Great video ,I agree DG & JP totally diferent styles but both great in their own right!!

    thank you for posting!

    5+*****!

  • @AXESLINGERFV

Thanks -- check out parts 2 and 3.

  • @KarmicOmen I will, thank you!

  • @Coldwateroyster1

David is a very clean player -- without sounding like a clinical machine like Neil Peart's drumming can sound at times, while JP seemingly never sounds the same way twice ... intentionally or by design.

  • @Coldwateroyster1

The similarities between Bonzo and Peart end at skill set. Neil is highly proficient, but so technical to a science it's almost clinical, where as John didn't play by the rules. Neil's drumming -- he's very fast, and (too) clean, yet not as powerful as John; though not many are. Bonzo was the God of Thunder, and also more of an innovator of technique versus a borrower.

  • @Coldwateroyster1

The guy who also sings "I Can't Tell You Why"? Such a great tune! Isn't that Timothy B. Schmidt ... or Tim?

  • @Coldwateroyster1

One of my favorites -- or two, depending how you look at it: Hotel California intro and outro. The intro is somewhat flamenco sounding ... very pretty, and featured in my video titled Great Song Intros 1. While I had another "difference" in my head, it got lost between errands and traffic ;o) When it bounces back I'll post it.

  • @Coldwateroyster1

By the way, Robert is one of my favorite people -- whiplash wit, great sense of humor.

  • @Coldwateroyster1

Lucky you! The Firm: I definitely know who they are, and I like them a lot; also a huge fan of Bad Company; forever a fan of Jimmy's. I'm a huge music fan in general, as far back as the 1930's ... jazz, swing, big band, and especially the blues. Barring a few exceptions (i.e. Godsmack), nothing after the year 2000 appeals to me.

  • @Coldwateroyster1

I've never seen Led Zeppelin live ... too young; just 12 when they disbanded in 1980, and I know no one my age who saw them. Pink Floyd ... thought I saw them in 1989; it was 198. Whoops, forgot the date (momentary lapse of faculties), but the show was unforgettably phenomenal. Never met either -- know no one who has; far too intimidating I would imagine, so I'm good .. will leave that for others to aspire to and love 'em from a distance.

  • 198 = 1988. Oh, my ... I'm "batting 1,000" today *rolls eyes*

  • @AlexandriaDaniels

Oh good, then you can send my husband a sympathy card ;o)

  • @Coldwateroyster1

Wow ... what a glowing review! *blushing* Thank you so much ... truly appreciate the kind words! I am working on part two; wanted to spotlight Jimmy's and David's other works. Material is no problem -- got tons of it, but being meticulous to a fault, when it's completed depends on my "Virgo" threshold during the editing process ;o)

  • great video dude. Is it just me or do the songs speed seem to be just a hair slower?

  • @Thomas1190

Thanks for the feedback ... glad you like it. No, it isn't you; all songs are slower, intentionally, by -3.000, but usually unnoticeable -- good ear. Oh, and dude? I'm a chick ;O)
