I don't drive an srt. I drive just a simple 3 series bmw. A buddy of mine has a 50 trim with a fully built bottom end. It was ''Necessarily'' cheap. After all said and done around 9,000 in parts. Yet he's had this set up for 3 1/2 years. Funny thing is, Nothing has ever fallen apart. Oh, FYI. Since the Keyword is srt-4/350/rsx. You would never find it if you searched 350 any way since Keyword srt-4 is first. Nice try though.

its an hks..get the neon srt...kills the caliber in performance..my friend has the srt caliber with a few things done to it and still isn't even close to hanging with my car
@pba4life Oh yeah .. Neon for sure .. Looks and performs like 10x better. Plus, I wouldn't want to be seen in a Caliber, they just don't do it for me. The hard part is '05 Cobalt SS or '05 SRT-4. That's tricky, I still say SRT.
@eXOd1uM The Slowbalt....err...i mean Cobalt SS Turbo vs a NSRT-4 is always a good race to watch. I raced a few with my NSRT-4 n they are pretty quick though but have only gotten beat by 1 out of 3.

Trust me...any company could make an engine like Honda that revs to 8 grand and only makes power up top...but for daily commuting...that kind of power band makes for an exhausting drive to work...I'll take the turbo and the kick in the pants when I put my foot down :)
@idiotfieldmouse Not any company. Because the only people that know how to do it are the Japanese and the Germans (BMW M3, M5, M6). And actually. I've driven a Civic Si and a Celica GT-S, and they were both extremely easy to drive. Strong gearing in those cars makes up for the lack of torque. So the daily driving isn't as bad as most people would assume. As for me, I'd take reliable and powerful, over unreliable shit like the SRT-4. In the end, it's still a Neon. Just my take.
@idiotfieldmouse I thought I would add in here, that the Acura RDX 4 cylinder turbo is the best engine Honda has ever made. Any claim that Honda knows nothing about torque is very wrong. Honda knows torque, but they choose not to make cars with boatloads of it because every boy racer loves a screaming 9,000rpm redline. Honda is more about the driver than they are the car. A good driver will do extremely well in an Si or Type S. Because they're fun.
@sleepisyummy The RDX's turbo 4 IS a great motor. My uncle just turned in his lease on one not too long ago. It's a shame Honda doesn't implement that motor's power into other cars in their lineup. No doubt the SRT4 is a junky car...but the motor is extremely strong and reliable. I've driven newer Si's and I've driven a supercharged '03 Si...they're fun cars no doubt...but I'm a fan of torque. Honda is quickly turning into Toyota and becoming just a boring A-B car maker with no soul.
@idiotfieldmouse the K series does extremely well when they're given forced induction. Most people don't go that route because they like the naturally aspirated sound of a Honda lol. Plus you can't beat the fluidity from a gearbox of a Honda. The cars get up and go, they're reliable, and have a good build quality. The best thing about the Civic Si? I can't pick one out because it's an all around winner. The best thing about the SRT-4 is no doubt the motor. the rest of the car sucks.

Because they catered to the majority population that look for comfort and reliability instead of the minority population looking for speed and pleasure. Honda may be boring, but they still are Honda, and will always be a sportier carmaker than Toyota. Honda likes to be unique.
@sleepisyummy I will agree that Honda is "sportier" than Toyota but being "sportier" doesn't mean that Honda is sporty. The last remaining exciting vehicle in the Honda lineup is the Si and even that has just gotten a bit fat and wobbly over the years as the power/weight ratio element has declined. And as for Toyota being number one, yeah they did it, but they sold out in doing so. They gave up their soul and passion for driving and frankly, I don't condone selling out. And Honda's headed there.
@idiotfieldmouse Honda can't afford to get sporty. The reason the Celica GT-S and the Supra were discontinued is simple. Nobody bought them. And Toyota made those small sacrifices to get them to where they are now. They make the most fuel efficient hybrid on the road, and have year by year top of class award winners in the Camry and Corolla, competing with the Accord and Civic from Honda. I say functionality and practicality over speed makes a good carmaker.
@sleepisyummy There's no doubt that both Honda and Toyota make very reliable and fuel efficient cars, but so does every car maker out there these days. Those two have just been doing it for so long that they overshadow many of the others. The problem is, they both have sacrificed their excitement and thrill factors to really top out the list. And while that's perfectly fine, they won't be getting my condolences for selling out. We enthusiasts may be a niche market, but we need catering as well.

Even Korea makes more reliable cars than any American brand. Reliability is how many problems a car has, not the initial quality of a car. Ford has the best initial quality out of the American brands, but worldwide, the leader is Lexus (also a boring brand). See a theme? I do agree we need catering though. But there are plenty of cars for us.

You can look it up online. Initial quality is in no way comparable to reliability. Gas mileage doesn't make a car reliable. How long it lasts on general maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, tranny fluid changes, etc.) is what makes a car reliable. In that area, the Japanese are still the best.

I have an SRT-4. It's fast as hell.. and gets almost 30mpg on the highway.. and has 4 doors. Reliable? Not exactly, not from my experience. I had to put in 6 grand just in repairs in the first 18 months I had it. I used to have a 300zx, and my next car will likely be a 350z. But not because it's faster, or will "pull more bitches," but because I love Z-cars and it's a Nissan. They tend to be more reliable, I've had a couple. They're both great performance cars though. SRTs can handle.
No, I didn't abuse the car. As for "why not cruise normal?" Why buy an SRT-4 and not drive fast? There's no point in having the car if you're not going to enjoy what it can do. The motor mounts broke, the clutch developed a vibration, my axles went, cam seals went (although the engine and tranny were pretty stout for me overall). Wheel bearings went bad, power steering went bad more than once. I loved the car, but there's no comparison to a nissans quality and ability to take punishment

i actually dont see anything wrong with having a DODGE NEON SRT-4.....its a 4 cylinder 2.4l turbo so if this car is gay then im guessin a EVO and a STI are gay since they are also 4 cylinders and have a smaller displacement at that...yea they are faster and all that but wit only a few upgrades from a roll the SRT-4 takes it....PLUS the SRT-4 is way more reliable than and EVO or STI try having an EVO or and STI with 100k miles that car is shit with that mileage a srt-4 isnt
Kind of funny you would make that comparison.. I haven't had a good experience with repair costs with my SRT-4 (had it 2.5 years, have put over 65k miles on it). However, it does have over 105k on it, and I did destroy a WRX today who repeatedly tried to race me from a roll. By 120 I pulled 5-6 car lengths on him.. and this is in a BEAT SRT-4.
1) SRT-4 is VERY reliable, there are thousands running 100K and more miles, out of a total of roughly 25K models sold. It is so pathetic to make moronic claims about the SRT4 being "unreliable" when that is an absolute and total LIE!
2) SRT4 handle well, .89 on the skidpad, they may not handle as well as certain girly cars, but will more than make up for it with power.
3) SRT-4 vs 350Z is a driver's race, no stock pre 2008 350Z EVER ran a 13.3, LIE!

Well then dodge must have really tried when they manufactured yours, because they arent reliable. Because to be quite frank they couldnt even build the 420A properly and make it last, let alone something pumping out 100hp/L.
I mean, you really can't argue with Dodge...taking a big 2.4 block and slapping up a turbo. Granted its on a FWD platform and the SRT4 is the next Civic in terms of todays tuners, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind driving a skittle :D
It doesn't even look like a neon...Look up a 2005 neon, then look up a 2005 srt-4... and compare the two side by side.. don't look anything alike. the only thing thats the same is the head lights and rear tails.

well everyone knows that is not cheap to not only put a turbo but basically anything u want to modify in a 350z, i own a 2004 350z and i'm thinking to put a twin turbo on it, its around $6000 plus a bounch of parts that ill have to change on the engine lets round it up to $10-12 thousand. now if u put a stage 4 it would be like $4000? i bet u the stage 4 would not be able to keep up with the TT 350z.
or the kit i priced out to build myself for the srt was about $2500 would have put me around 480whp I think that would hang with the 350tt...unless you built the vq for the twins then it would be a waste for the srt to do anything....front wheel drive with high hp ftl...
yea i wouldn't put a twin turbo on stock engine, when i was buying the car i was actually deciding between the 04 350z and a 05 srt4 the srt4 drives pretty nice, i think if u put both car stock the srt4 its a little quicker at start,what killed it for me was the front wheel drive and the manual rear windows, and then the 350z exterior is better looking than the srt4 so thats why i picked the 350z but the srt4 its pretty fast i have to admit, too bad they don't make it anymore
I know you posted this comment awhile ago.. but I had to say something. For less than $300 I was able to buy a nice set of solid motor mounts, and a tranny mount for my 04 srt4.. Now my car does 0-30 pretty well too, as well as 30-150+. Stock the car tops out at 153-156, depending on the year. And a $1700 KW coilover kit now makes my car outhandle stock Z's. I am a huge Z lover, in fact I had a 300zx.. and would love to have a 350. SRT4's can handle, and have top end though.
you so if you're going to upgrade the z, then upgrade the srt. you can mod pretty much anything to beat almost anything so why would you say that "if you turbo a z, then it would win"? in that case, 3" cat back, intake, up grade the turbo, and i/c and the srt would beat a 350

wrong! due to the fact that the 350 has a bigger engine and n/a is already fast as shit, you can put a bigger turbo on a 350 that the srt wouldn't even be albe to handle. you can only upgrade a turbo so much until it is topped out. but the 350 is just at the bottom of it's potential and still gets 13.3's.
just because it makes power being N/A doesn't mean it will make power being prepped as a turbo motor...you can't TT it and turn up the boost you have to lower compression therefore you lose power.. not to mention to actually get the full benefit of the TT setup you have to spend at least $8000 or more....
ummm......buddy.....IT DOES mean that it'll make more power being turboed. and besides, i love srt 4's but they're only good at straight aways and quarter miles. so in that case, even a 350 gets quicker times than an srt. from a roll though, the srt will win but 350's can atleast handle.

Trust me...any company could make an engine like Honda that revs to 8 grand and only makes power up top...but for daily commuting...that kind of power band makes for an exhausting drive to work...I'll take the turbo and the kick in the pants when I put my foot down :)

@idiotfieldmouse Not any company. Because the only people that know how to do it are the Japanese and the Germans (BMW M3, M5, M6). And actually. I've driven a Civic Si and a Celica GT-S, and they were both extremely easy to drive. Strong gearing in those cars makes up for the lack of torque. So the daily driving isn't as bad as most people would assume. As for me, I'd take reliable and powerful, over unreliable shit like the SRT-4. In the end, it's still a Neon. Just my take.

@idiotfieldmouse I thought I would add in here, that the Acura RDX 4 cylinder turbo is the best engine Honda has ever made. Any claim that Honda knows nothing about torque is very wrong. Honda knows torque, but they choose not to make cars with boatloads of it because every boy racer loves a screaming 9,000rpm redline. Honda is more about the driver than they are the car. A good driver will do extremely well in an Si or Type S. Because they're fun.

@sleepisyummy The RDX's turbo 4 IS a great motor. My uncle just turned in his lease on one not too long ago. It's a shame Honda doesn't implement that motor's power into other cars in their lineup. No doubt the SRT4 is a junky car...but the motor is extremely strong and reliable. I've driven newer Si's and I've driven a supercharged '03 Si...they're fun cars no doubt...but I'm a fan of torque. Honda is quickly turning into Toyota and becoming just a boring A-B car maker with no soul.

@idiotfieldmouse the K series does extremely well when they're given forced induction. Most people don't go that route because they like the naturally aspirated sound of a Honda lol. Plus you can't beat the fluidity from a gearbox of a Honda. The cars get up and go, they're reliable, and have a good build quality. The best thing about the Civic Si? I can't pick one out because it's an all around winner. The best thing about the SRT-4 is no doubt the motor. the rest of the car sucks.

Because they catered to the majority population that look for comfort and reliability instead of the minority population looking for speed and pleasure. Honda may be boring, but they still are Honda, and will always be a sportier carmaker than Toyota. Honda likes to be unique.

The last remaining exciting vehicle in the Honda lineup is the Si and even that has just gotten a bit fat and wobbly over the years as the power/weight ratio element has declined. And as for Toyota being number one, yeah they did it, but they sold out in doing so. They gave up their soul and passion for driving and frankly, I don't condone selling out. And Honda's headed there.

@idiotfieldmouse Honda can't afford to get sporty. The reason the Celica GT-S and the Supra were discontinued is simple. Nobody bought them. And Toyota made those small sacrifices to get them to where they are now. They make the most fuel efficient hybrid on the road, and have year by year top of class award winners in the Camry and Corolla, competing with the Accord and Civic from Honda. I say functionality and practicality over speed makes a good carmaker.

Even Korea makes more reliable cars than any American brand. Reliability is how many problems a car has, not the initial quality of a car. Ford has the best initial quality out of the American brands, but worldwide, the leader is Lexus (also a boring brand). See a theme? I do agree we need catering though. But there are plenty of cars for us.

You can look it up online. Initial quality is in no way comparable to reliability. Gas mileage doesn't make a car reliable. How long it lasts on general maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, tranny fluid changes, etc.) is what makes a car reliable. In that area, the Japanese are still the best.

A study by NASA confirmed there were NO faults in Toyota's electronic system, meaning the pedals were faulty because they were made incorrectly at the manufacturer, which was some unknown small business in the midwest U.S somewhere I think. The same company also made pedals for Mitsubishi and a few other automakers. But the study took Toyota off the hook, and yes their technology is better anyways.

I have an SRT-4. It's fast as hell.. and gets almost 30mpg on the highway.. and has 4 doors. Reliable? Not exactly, not from my experience. I had to put in 6 grand just in repairs in the first 18 months I had it. I used to have a 300zx, and my next car will likely be a 350z. But not because it's faster, or will "pull more bitches," but because I love Z-cars and it's a Nissan. They tend to be more reliable, I've had a couple. They're both great performance cars though. SRTs can handle.

No, I didn't abuse the car. As for "why not cruise normal?" Why buy an SRT-4 and not drive fast? There's no point in having the car if you're not going to enjoy what it can do. The motor mounts broke, the clutch developed a vibration, my axles went, cam seals went (although the engine and tranny were pretty stout for me overall). Wheel bearings went bad, power steering went bad more than once. I loved the car, but there's no comparison to a nissans quality and ability to take punishment

Kind of funny you would make that comparison.. I haven't had a good experience with repair costs with my SRT-4 (had it 2.5 years, have put over 65k miles on it). However, it does have over 105k on it, and I did destroy a WRX today who repeatedly tried to race me from a roll. By 120 I pulled 5-6 car lengths on him.. and this is in a BEAT SRT-4.

1) SRT-4 is VERY reliable, there are thousands running 100K and more miles, out of a total of roughly 25K models sold. It is so pathetic to make moronic claims about the SRT4 being "unreliable" when that is an absolute and total LIE!
2) SRT4 handle well, .89 on the skidpad, they may not handle as well as certain girly cars, but will more than make up for it with power.
3) SRT-4 vs 350Z is a driver's race, no stock pre 2008 350Z EVER ran a 13.3, LIE!

well everyone knows that is not cheap to not only put a turbo but basically anything u want to modify in a 350z, i own a 2004 350z and i'm thinking to put a twin turbo on it, its around $6000 plus a bounch of parts that ill have to change on the engine lets round it up to $10-12 thousand. now if u put a stage 4 it would be like $4000? i bet u the stage 4 would not be able to keep up with the TT 350z.

yea i wouldn't put a twin turbo on stock engine, when i was buying the car i was actually deciding between the 04 350z and a 05 srt4 the srt4 drives pretty nice, i think if u put both car stock the srt4 its a little quicker at start,what killed it for me was the front wheel drive and the manual rear windows, and then the 350z exterior is better looking than the srt4 so thats why i picked the 350z but the srt4 its pretty fast i have to admit, too bad they don't make it anymore

I know you posted this comment awhile ago.. but I had to say something. For less than $300 I was able to buy a nice set of solid motor mounts, and a tranny mount for my 04 srt4.. Now my car does 0-30 pretty well too, as well as 30-150+. Stock the car tops out at 153-156, depending on the year. And a $1700 KW coilover kit now makes my car outhandle stock Z's. I am a huge Z lover, in fact I had a 300zx.. and would love to have a 350. SRT4's can handle, and have top end though.

wrong! due to the fact that the 350 has a bigger engine and n/a is already fast as shit, you can put a bigger turbo on a 350 that the srt wouldn't even be albe to handle. you can only upgrade a turbo so much until it is topped out. but the 350 is just at the bottom of it's potential and still gets 13.3's.

just because it makes power being N/A doesn't mean it will make power being prepped as a turbo motor...you can't TT it and turn up the boost you have to lower compression therefore you lose power.. not to mention to actually get the full benefit of the TT setup you have to spend at least $8000 or more....

seriously, i'm not biased at all on this, i'm just finding hard to believe that srt's handle well. they are infamous for being horrible at handling :( but i'm still open to the thought. you just have to prove it to me. seriously, send me a link to a vid or some specs.

13.3? You must be completely retarded if you think a stock 350Z can run anywhere NEAR a 13.3. The 350Z runs 14.1 in the quarter mile, 5.4 0-60 time. Even that piece of crap Nismo 350 Z or wtf it's called won't run a 13.3. Also, there are lots and lots of srt4's out there running 500hp on stock internals. Get a clue before you start smarting off at the mouth.

i saw it buddy. so why don't you shut the fuck up. and also learn to drive so you can run a car to it's full potential. stock maximas and altimas are getting 14.1's. you don't think that a car with more hp, and more torque, RWD instead of FWD and is lighter, can't go faster than the altima 3.5? you suck as at logic. get a different hobby.
