@malcom2222 I think it's Dagger of the Mind - the one where Kirk's being transported back up to the Enterprise, and, in the process, he "splits" into two selves - a "good" self and an "evil" self. I'm pretty sure the shirtless scene is one of his "evil" self - trying to be good! ;-)
Yup, you're totally right. This is the exact quote from Mr. Roddenberry: "Yes, there's certainly some of that -- certainly with love overtones. Deep love. The only difference being, the Greek ideal-- we never suggested in the series-- physical love between the two. But it's the-- we certainly had the feeling that the affection was sufficient for that, if that were the particular style of the 23rd century."
Then the phrase became legendary as "I have been and always shall be your friend", BUT before he said "You're my captain. You're also my friend. I have been and always shall be yours."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Spock was never Jim's captain, so it's NOT the same as saying "you're my friend and I'm yours".
Anyway, S/K IS real and very much canon, even if recent directors try to deny it.
great vid, and I think the new new music actually suits it rather well :) and omg yeay for kirk/spock! :D
could someone help me out? the scene where kirk is shirtless with a towel around his neck (1:00), i remember a bit later spock walks into the room to talk to kirk.. what episode is that from? please? :)
What a brilliant clip! I have posted it on my facebook profile - it shows one important reason why "Star Trek" will always be very special to me. I love it!
Watched both vids back to back and then watched this one again. I think i like this one better, it's sweeter and i find myself imagining the diaglog which makes it even more slashy. And I agree the wolf whistle is priceless!
Was that wolf whistle when Kirk is getting dressed part of the instrumental?
I actually rather like this (maybe partly because I've never like the Hollies song), and I really appreciate that you did the work to swap the audio rather than deleting the whole thing.
It draws attention to the censorship, for one thing, but it also saves a great editing job!
Haha, just imagine the LOL factor when I first previewed this in AudioSwap, not really expecting to find anything worth using, and totally out of the blue comes that whistle, at the very moment Shatner's clean-shaven chest fills the entire screen. I tell you, THAT was when and why I abandoned my original plan to leave the muted video rolling here as a protest. Computers work in mysterious ways... or then they all are in love with Kirk!
Oh, thanks Anna, I'm very much flattered! I had some luck with the music - this must've been only about the third song I tried for the video. Anyway it's good to know it works even this way; having spent all that time editing the clips to suit the Hollies lyrics, it's not very easy to stop repeating them in my mind even when the song's gone. (But, as the impressions this vid creates are now purely accidental, I think I can safely that the swap did result in some incredibly beautiful moments.)
As a child I found Star Trek stupid and embarrassing and not even remotely entertaining. Your videos shed a whole new light on the subject! Hilarious and beautifully done! 10 Q.
This is gorgeous! Brilliant editing and inspired song choice ( one of my personal top 10). Indeed, it evokes the joy of K/S.(....and turned a dreary day bright) Excuse the gush :-)
Um, which episode the 2.25-2.29 come from? (I love the scene. It's like Kirk wondered what's so interesting about what Spock sees that it stole all his attention, together with the part of it he should give to his captain XPP Anyway, I want to iconize it ^^)

Fantastic vid, it was a great idea to use close-ups. They added so much to the mood. Wonderful!

This was awesome. It's just too easy to slash those two. Sometimes I think the writers were in on it and thought it was funny.
Chris2myfriends 2 years ago 2
You're very close...they WERE in on it. But they thought it was sweet/hot, not FUNNY.
And before anyone needs this clarified, read what gingervine22 said. Not good enough? okay...

Well, wasn't it said once (by Kirk, in fact!) that Spock would make a wonderful computer?

OH!!! You chose a music that seems to be made for this video! And listening just the music without words allows to imagine much more from the scenes.
The music really fits!
This video doesn't seem to go nowhere: the magic between Kirk and Spock is shown in such a shiny ;-) and sweet combined alchemy of scenes.
You are brilliant Mortmere: face it! In spite of all slings and arrows of outrageous fortune against freedom of music videos! ^_^
