sonic boom may not be like love gun or rock and roll over, but its definetly a very good album: simple, catchy and solid rock and roll. Actually i think its better than lots of kiss's albums from the 80's and its also better than psycho circus, which only had 1 good song (the one with the album's name). It may not have a blockbuster song like rock n roll all nite, but it also doesn't have too much filler. It has a feeling of kiss's classic albums and i like it for that.

The solo is just bits of Ace's old solos in random order! It's bad enough that they make Tommy wear Ace's make up but Gene and Paul should let Tommy play his own licks- he's a great guitarist (just listen to Black N Blue)... "Nobody's Perfect" is actually a perfect KISS song in my opinion. Gene´s singing is great, Tommy is playing like an ace and Eric is hitting the cowbell just like a the cat-man. With a touch of "Mr Speed", "Room Service" and "Let Me Know" you can´t go wrong. Good Stuff!

God this song owns. Good to see Gene come up with a scorching KISS tune. His vocals are damn smooth and the attitude behind them are all rock and roll~~~hahaha, love it.
They play lots of Kiss here. A lot of the standard classics and of course Modern Day Delilah. Ace is getting some airplay as well. I could hear this on the radio for sure.
I am a fan and I really like this cd. It could be heavier but I theink it blows away some of the music out there. Lets see if the airwaves gives some of these songs a chance. Some really good tunes on this cd!!

By well rounded I mean "full of great songs." No filler, unless you consider "Never Enough" and "Lightning Strikes" to be weaker songs, like I do.
KISS went soft with "Crazy Nights." It's like they recreated the late seventies in the late 80's and went pop again.
Asylum is an under rated album. Yes, there are a few over cheesy girly Paul songs, but there are also great heavy rock songs like Im Alive, King of the Mountain, Any Way You Slice It and of course Loves a Deadly Weapon

"sonic boom" is trash. it may sound like a 70's record because that is the way they produced it, but musically and lyrically it is a half hearted record put out for the sole purpose of making money. it is a failed attempt to recreate the truly great sound they had in the 70's...i prefer to listen to their old stuff cuz they are just ripping off fans now!!!
SB is an excellent album, and doesn't seem thrown together at all. In fact, it seems they put ALOT OF EFFORT into this. If you don't like it, thats your choice, don't buy it. Most KISS fans are liking it, about 108,000 cds sold in a week. Not bad. If it stunk, they would not have sold nearly as well. I for one, love it.

I Say sonic boom, and Psycho Circus, are equally great, they both have songs that are worth selling and there are some songs that werent even supposed to happen, like that lame ass Ace Frelhley song "in to the void" its too long and tries too hard, instead they should of put, "In your face" which is from Ace too. and Simmons' "Within" sucks. i was against the reunion from the beginning. i liked the direction they were going in the early to mid nineties. Revenge was great, and i really liked Carnival of Souls, it was something different, musically and lyrically. They did the reunion and put the makeup back on because they knew it would sell. You can't be a long time KISS fan. If you were, you'd love this album. If you think COS is their normal style, then you're in the wrong Army. COS was good, but definitely not your standard KISS material. KISS tunes are normally not dark, and Sonic Boom represents good time rock & roll at its best!!! This is a feel good, fun album.....and i think most KISS fans will agree, it just keeps getting better the more you listen to it!!!!!!

Thank you so much for posting this, now I'm off to WAL MART to BUY Sonic Boom! I already know it's a fantastic KISS record, and I'll enjoy it that much more having heard these samples now. Don't listen to tomtomtiddles down there, he's obviously not a vested fan of the band. This truly is a comeback record, and I haven't been this proud of my heroes in decades. They are back on track, and I'd be ecstatic to buy a new record by this band in the future. Great job Paul, Gene, Eric & Tommy!

"Nobody's Perfect" is actually a perfect KISS song in my opinion. Gene´s singing is great, Tommy is playing like an ace and Eric is hitting the cowbell just like a the cat-man. With a touch of "Mr Speed", "Room Service" and "Let Me Know" you can´t go wrong. Good Stuff!

By well rounded I mean "full of great songs." No filler, unless you consider "Never Enough" and "Lightning Strikes" to be weaker songs, like I do.
KISS went soft with "Crazy Nights." It's like they recreated the late seventies in the late 80's and went pop again.
Asylum is an under rated album. Yes, there are a few over cheesy girly Paul songs, but there are also great heavy rock songs like Im Alive, King of the Mountain, Any Way You Slice It and of course Loves a Deadly Weapon

kiss is one of my favorite bands, but if they put out a crappy cd im gonna call them out on it. that is what a real fan should do. "sonic boom" is trash. it may sound like a 70's record because that is the way they produced it, but musically and lyrically it is a half hearted record put out for the sole purpose of making money. it is a failed attempt to recreate the truly great sound they had in the 70's...i prefer to listen to their old stuff cuz they are just ripping off fans now!!!

SB is an excellent album, and doesn't seem thrown together at all. In fact, it seems they put ALOT OF EFFORT into this. If you don't like it, thats your choice, don't buy it. Most KISS fans are liking it, about 108,000 cds sold in a week. Not bad. If it stunk, they would not have sold nearly as well. I for one, love it.

"sonic boom" was produced to have that70's sound, but dont compare it to "rock n roll over" or "love gun". Sonic Boom is a bust from beginning to end. I Say sonic boom, and Psycho Circus, are equally great, they both have songs that are worth selling and there are some songs that werent even supposed to happen, like that lame ass Ace Frelhley song "in to the void" its too long and tries too hard, instead they should of put, "In your face" which is from Ace too. and Simmons' "Within" sucks. i was against the reunion from the beginning. i liked the direction they were going in the early to mid nineties. Revenge was great, and i really liked Carnival of Souls, it was something different, musically and lyrically. They did the reunion and put the makeup back on because they knew it would sell. They didnt have to work as hard to write songs and as a result Psycho Circus and now Sonic Boom which i believe are dissapointments. They are just trying to recapture what they did 30 years ago.

You can't be a long time KISS fan. If you were, you'd love this album. If you think COS is their normal style, then you're in the wrong Army. COS was good, but definitely not your standard KISS material. KISS tunes are normally not dark, and Sonic Boom represents good time rock & roll at its best!!! Out of Gene's songs in Sonic Boom, this is the best one because it captures classic KISS and this could fit in either Rock & Roll Over or Love Gun.

Have you watched the Buenos Aries DVD? What in the WORLD were the fans chanting the whole time? And wasn't it an odd choice to include this footage in the set? Because obviously the crowd reaction was bugging the sh*t out of the band. Strange.

The first 3 notes of 'Say Yeah' are the same as 'Nobody's Perfect'. My 12 year old pointed that out on the way home from school today. Odd!!

Thank you so much for posting this, now I'm off to WAL MART to BUY Sonic Boom! I already know it's a fantastic KISS record, and I'll enjoy it that much more having heard these samples now. Don't listen to tomtomtiddles down there, he's obviously not a vested fan of the band. This truly is a comeback record, and I haven't been this proud of my heroes in decades. They are back on track, and I'd be ecstatic to buy a new record by this band in the future. Great job Paul, Gene, Eric & Tommy!
