@qulsonia You're probably not feeling this because she's not dressed like porn whore and she's not rapping about drugs or sex! This right here is grown folk music! You wouldn't understand!
This was back when I was in high school; I can't believe I didn't recognize how frigg'n cool Queen Latifah was. Can't wait to see her team up with Dolly Parton in their "Joyful Noise" film next year.

man this song...the memories...i learned how to dance to this song and songs like this. this is when men still danced at parties and it was cool to have routines. and i have to agree with the comment below me, this is when Hip-hop and House where close..damn near siblings..what happend? did the idiots who couldnt learn how to dance and had 0 charisma really take over that badly? the losers who were nothing but bullies and couldnt get into our jams really take over the industries?...sad..simply
@SpyTheChochaMan I think the record companies really messed this scene up. They saw that some artists had success with hip house and next thing you know, everyone was doing hip house from 89-91. They say "house is a feeling" and the Chicago cats still to this day do house in one form or another, be it old school, ghetto, juke, etc. but I think a lot of the NY types weren't into it because they didn't get it and just did to be commercial. Of course west coast gangsta killed everything anyway
THATs RIGHT! And the style of dance to Hip Hop was actually called "House." We used to "House" back in the day... Who the hell came in and change our shit?
I'm a fan of Queen Latifah her music is just so real and on point. I like how back in the day she wore the African hats and overall how she dressed back then. I saw this video on VH1 Soul yesterday and fell in love with the song again.
I am proud of how far she has come but i miss our HipHop Queen. its like she killed her and stuffed her in a bag and sent up up stream some where. o well. i guess we all grow .she will always be my L.A.T.I.F.A.H
What's "give me body" all about? I used to scream it out of my car window while driving, but I never understood what Queen Latifah meant. Is she washing her hair and singing, wishing for more body? =-P
"Give me body" is a term used in the Gay Ball room scene ( youtube it, Paris is burning) when they say give me body, they're saying to show off your body. If you got a great body flaunt it.
HIPHOUSE.....Jungle Brother killed it 1st..with "HouseMusic alnight long"... Monie Love did a hot one "GrandPA's party" with Afrika Bambaata....this is when cross culture of HIPHOP was free of industry crap.....
i do understand...that's why i Youtube...HipHop from my generation...78/79-80-90's Remember, Davey DMX/ World Famous Supreme Team/Fearless 4..Mantronix/T-La Rock/Crash Crew/Ultramagnetic MC's/Cold Crush Brothers/Fresh 3 MC's...then the Native Tongue Movement
Yes!!!! i was thinking of De La Soul's Buddy the other day. i loved the remix, but i was thinkning of the remix w/Taana Gardner's heartbeat sample, but the original joint on 3 feet high and rising....it was so dope man.
MC Lyte is my hero, will always be. Lyte and Rakim...and of course Biggie. it was beautiful man. Digable Planets was hot too, slept on unfortunately.
oh no you didn't. you hit some of my favs! Ultramagnic were super slept on.
add Just-Ice, Salt n Peppa, Az, Chill Rob G, Nas, KRS, Slick Rick, X Clan, JB's, Tribe- goodness I can go on for days. PharCyde for good measure out West!
Lyte and Queen we're my fav females and Foxy and lil Kim was ok.
she had alot of jamaican influences on All Hail The Queen...there was Princess of the Posse, Wrath of My Madness and the legendary Inside Out...i think you might be talking about the last song.
Much respect & thanks to the poster richfofo for this! Do you have a clue how much I love this song? This is in My top 5 favorite Queen La tunes! Who would believe that in 2 years this video would be 20 years young. To that other poster it's not 'white ppl' that hate her it's nazi cousin lovers who hate on Queen! They can't handle a Sister that's strong by herself & doesn't ask their permission to be who she is a Queen! Just like they claim that Lauryn Hill is racist. That title suits them well!
i am a Causian white but dont really know why white people hate her. i love her so much. especially her performance in hairspray movie =) loves from Turkey
Isn't it ironic that Queen Latifah was the only performer that didn't show up with her hair done and no makeup..and now she's a Covergirl spokeswoman. God bless America.
