Okay now I'm freaked out. I stopped listening to this but left the window open. Came back to my PC, put my headphones on and the music was playing but the video wasn't playing...
I know! everytime I listen to Magic Window, not only do I get it stuck in my head - but it will literally keep playing on my computer even though it's switched off! creepy but genious.
@ninfan98 The album with the track included is precisely 66:06 in length. That's why. It's supposed to convey a message--this album is cultist and "evil". Though both of them consider themselves atheist/agnostic, they wanted to be as distinct as possible in laying a sinister foundation. It makes more sense than having an extra track that "happens" to make it that length. They wanted to be as obvious and disturbing as possible, just like the album itself. Absolutely fucking genius, however.
@ninfan98 while i'm pretty sure it was just to make the album 66:06 long.. magic windows is actually a certain type of sound that we can't hear. just google "magic windows sound wavelengths"
So, did anyone else notice that "Corsair" is EXACTLY the same forwards and backwards? It's very interesting... I know the band Korn once had a song that was like that... It was the same thing no matter how it was played.
You Could Feel the Sky reversed sounds just like the start of the Butthole Surfers song Sweet Loaf ("By the way, if you see your mom this weekend, be sure and tell her SATAN SATAN SATAN")
At the beginning Magic Window plays then Corsair starts with synthesizers from 0:09 to 3:01 then You Could Feel the Sky starts with fading in from 3:20 to 3:55 with singing and talking then the drums fade in at 5:14 and there is talking everywhere with ouexneoixnixnwinixnx why ereh xwimcwoencoeneoin a god with hooves and
what is it with people reversing there tracks, they reverse so many of there synth and sound scapes anyway!?still sounds beautiful, truely inspiring, thankyou for posting bro!
boards of canada had mentioned themselves in interviews that music is like a form of magic for them and they like using subliminal messages to make their music into something that deeply affects the people that listen to it.
Not only "You Could Feel The Sky" almost sounds the same backwards as forward, but the backward message "A God with hooves, a God with horns" creeps me out!!
if this is the music of satan, then fuck sign me up LOL!
that is weird though becuase when you listen to the track forwards like i have just done now, you can barley notice the reversed speech...makes you wonder why its in there! We have alot of time on our hands, listen to this album backwards... And im glad! i wouldn't want it any other way.
Hello again. I don't mean to put you out of buisiness, but I just found out there's quite a good track reverse plugin for the Foobar2000 player. Allthough, umm, I just reversed the entire geogaddi album and now I don't know how to get it back.. rereverse it??? lol
Clever composing techniques, I assume. It's fascinating because I've done similar things with my own music but I've never quite done so to a point where it's as free flowing as this, completely melding together in both directions.
That's what's so great about Boards, they have the ability to contort things in so many ways yet still maintain a sense of organization throughout.
Is there the possibility that they designed a composition, in which harmony would complement itself when reversed and modulation succeeds through a translated mathematical pattern? Like say, if you would use these notes in a patern: C - G - E - G. When you reverse them and overlay them, you would get a recognizable chord signature of the chords C - Em - Em - C. You could make this quite a complex structure without making it to hard on yourself.
A better suggestion to what? Fixing something that isn't broken? I can just sense your urge to capitalize on every single chance to display your worthless music degree. You phayle broh.
In all honesty I'm sure you could come up with something pretty neat by implementing this, though I doubt BoC themselves had done so. From what I know about this album, the only thing they did similar to this was implement mathematical equations for certain tracks, but even then I don't know how exactly they did it and I don't think what you're saying necessarily fits that. It'd be interesting to work with though.
Allright I get that. I don't mean to say they implemented it 'without a doubt', I just thought it would be a good way to implement symmetrical portions in a composition. They probably know more about musical theory than I do, and since music is math (I'm not referring to the track) they very well could have used equations for creating the symmetrical parts as well. So, well, does that make more sense?
At the risk of sounding like a right prat, the start of this just reminds me of those really old 70s-80s hoovers and takes me back to being a kid hearing that droning that's kind of relaxing
Ah, but doesn't it? I think that's what they were looking for... If you ever find the track "From One Source All Things Depend" (A bonus track of Geogaddi's Japanese release) you'll get the same, stunningly beautiful effect.
a few songs sound so much better in reverse, never knew that was possible. Geogaddi is probably the greatest lp ever made. Check out ma 1969 video, my first video. Try Hi Scores in reverse. Cheers x

"You Could Feel The Sky" sounds depressing when reversed, like arriving to your hometown after 10 years only to find it was burned to the ground.
"Crosair" is the events that happened during the fire.
Both tracks still sounds beautiful

And then of course, when forcing the pattern through different synths/instruments, you would create melodic dynamics in the key of C :)

No, there is not that possibility.

The songs you're talking about, the mathematical ones usually implement the Golden ratio. A mathematical ratio found in every living thing.
