  • This song used to play on MTV a lot when I was in high school. My Mom loved it and said it reminded her of her Dad, my Grandpa, who died the year I was born.

  • she kind of looked like Rachel Lobangco

  • Huh I thought Madonna sang this one! Awesome song! Long Live the 80's!!!

  • When I was 15 the local rollerskating ring was the big hangout. in the middle was a fenced off area for dancing. I had a crush on one of the cutest and most popular girls in school. I was the unpopular goof back then. My crush never really noticed me but on that night she came up to me and grabbed me and took me out there. This song played. I never forgot it. I wonder what happened to her..

  • @OfficialWeejos Dude this so such a slow roller skate song! Great story.

  • I was 18 years old........

    Where has time gone?

I still think about my love when I hear this song. My current and forever love.

I am truely blessed with the best gal for me...she is perfect for me.

    Yup, I am in love...forever!

  • This was me and my high school sweetheart's song. Out of all the slow jams out there, none HAS the powerful message that this song has. We kinda had a forbidden love where her parent's did not approve the of our relationship due to religious reasons. So most nights, we had to dream about each other n have secret rendezvous away from everything. She was my first love n always will be, If I had the chance, after 21 years, I would take her back in a heartbeat.."i miss you Rhoda, i still love you"

  • much much long ago.

  • Nice dial phone!

  • @arvee0515 My mother passed in June of this year. It's so hard...everyday seems like a task to just wake up and go on without her. We were best friends and I think of her all the time.

  • The guitar player looks like the Count from Sesame Street. Baller.

  • THIS is REAL music, not the crap we have these days. RIP Uncle Mario.

  • I love this song so much. Thank you so much for uploading it. On Christmas Day of 2006, I lost my partner to spinal meningitis and when I listen to this song, I always think about my partner.

  • Born Wilma Cosmo. She hit #12 in Billboard, 5-6-89. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @DaveWollenberg actually this song hit number 1 for 1 week, check the billboard pop chart.

  • @massivedynamic1000 No, on the actual Billboard Hot 100, it did peak @ #12. Which chart were YOU referrin' to? Please let me know. God bless ya, for your efforts!

  • @DaveWollenberg have you ever listened to casey kasem's american top 40 way back in the 80's,it is based on the actual billboard pop chart. thinking of you hit no.1 for a week. maybe you based your chart on the billboard top 100 songs of the year.i used to have a list of every weeks top 40 songs from 1984 t0 1990,also the yearend top 100 songs of the year.i lost the list but im sure it hit no 1 for a week.

  • wow..a good song i use to listen to it almost everyday, and i loved the lyrics and now i know y..R.I.P to your uncle Mario

  • My first crush in Junior High. LOL. Glad I got over that one lol

  • This song always moves me to tears...Makes me think of a few people I lost over the years ....One so recent my cousin Deandre who we lost when he was only 5 years old...It will be a year that he left us on June 4....I MISS U DRE DRE

  • This looks like one of Frida Kahlo's frozen eggs was activated...the one that was fertilized by Isamu Noguchi. Once Frida passed, Olga Guillot adopted her thus the heavy handed emoting and histrionic posturing. A Safire/Guillot duet would make me believe in God.

  • God I forgot about this song. Safire really has a great voice and this song reminds me of all the loved ones I have lost. It sure does bring a tear or two to your eyes. Wish the music was still like this. Wish Safire was still cranking out the hits. All the old school acts were off the chain. Sending out a RIP to Ms. Teena Marie we lost another great talented singer!!!!

  • Maxine Nightingale did this song first, but I think Wilma did a much, much, much better job of it. Thanks for posting this.

  • safire is co-writer to this song. she is the only person to sing this song. this is not a remake.

  • This is a beautiful song and i think it represents the deep and enduring class of those who wrote and sang leading up to and during that decade. Go Safire baby you rock......u truly honour the memory of ur uncle..!!

  • @thecharmer38 Wow, did not know this was about her Uncle. I was a teenager when it came out and it reminds me of my grandmother because I remember hearing it on the radio that day or a day later when my grandmother died on a Sunday.

  • Real name:Wilma Cosmo. 1 hit wonder in Billboard. Hit #12. God bless!

  • We live in a world full of imperfect people who get sick and die. So we all are in this together. Since so far, no one has a cure for death, aids, cancer but God can cure and he does. There is no need in pointing fingers at any sickness since it's no ones fault and if it is someone's fault then only God knows that to, right and not man can't do anything without God.. God Bless You.

  • I'm not saying that aids is a curse from God. But I am saying that it is possible. I just don't know. God Bless You. Being honest and so sorry about your loved one.

  • You sit there and claim that only GOD know fault and then say that no one should point fingers yet that is exactly what you are doing. You have no right to judge if something is someones fault or not. As you stated only GOD knows and only GOD can judge. Your "honesty" is just your way of trying not to sound pompous. And what is with the comment about my loved one? If your assuming I have a loved one who I lost to AIDS your wrong and even more arrogent than I thought to presume such a thing.

  • @wordofadvice1 you must be one of those religious zealots. All the diseases in the world and no amount of prayer or belief ever finds a cure for anyone. Whens the last time anyone was cured of anything without some type of medication? I used to believe that AIDS was because of the way people were living their lives, but I know better now. You live your life and take the hand it gives you period. Not anyones fault, not a curse from God. Just the way life is!

  • @valentn7 Don't worry I'm not a religious zealot or anyone, Give God all the glory please for that is what God ask of us. It is written that if we permitt all the sins that are going on and do not speak to our brother or sister then all of us will suffer for these sins. The Tablets of the law speak plainly and we are not to sin. We have all betrayed God. And then we ask for sickness and illnesses to be cured. We don't deserve to be healed. God Bless You.

  • @wordofadvice1 You are a zealot. We were all born with original sin, what we do with our lives as we live is another story. Tell me what did a baby that died of SIDS do to deserve to die days or weeks after birth? Or a child who was abused to death? God has his glory from the masses and he still punishes them so it doesn't matter how much you believe or love him, you are still gonna die, horribly or otherwise. We didn't betray God, Adam and Eve did, we are just paying for it.

  • Respond to this video...

@wordofadvice1 We always pay for the sins of our fathers even though we did nothing, from the newborn infant that died in a hospital to the elderly that tried to live righteously by the bible. Don't dare act as if disease is our punishment for sin, because sin is Gods fault for allowing it to even happen. He started with just two in his likeness and look what happened. He gave us sin and he gave us disease, and we just deal with it.

  • Comment removed

  • @wordofadvice1 It doesn't make it easier to tell people they brought this on themselves as a curse either. You want to give God glory for putting his own creation thru misery? Be my guest but I won't. Everything wrong with the world is his own doing, his creations and his angels right down to Lucifer himself, therefore he should clean his own house before condemning his creations for his lack of oversight.

  • @valentn7 Besides God is the Alpha and Omega. We haven't all the answers. My gosh the way your talking is that God did this to all of us and that is it. If it was that easy then trust me, I am sure that we would understand more of this right now then what we do. Don't blame God. God made a way for us and you to. But with your rebellious ways and mine then how can a good God want to work with us? I don't know. But do you blame him. I don't. OK then that was very unfair of you to talk like this.

  • @wordofadvice1 Unfair of me? You righteous tart! You say God gave AIDS as a curse to us for sinning and I am the one thats unfair? People believe and pray and attend services and wait for miracles but I guess God is too busy doling out punishments cuz he let Lucipher stir up trouble and couldn't fix it. Yeah the good God that is very jealous and made a commandment saying so. Read your good book. He cast luc. out of heaven but he did nothing to protect Adam and eve from him in the garden of eden.

  • @valentn7 dont listen to ingorant people their meant to be igonored

  • good song

  • A really sad post and a great song/. It's just so sad that Aids is in this world. Maybe a curse from God. IDK. God Bless.

  • Are you trully saying that this world deserves AIDS? A curse from God? What exactly are you implying? There are plenty of other diseases in this world that have no cure that also cause pain and suffering. Such as cancers, hereditary diseases and malformations for the human body. Are all those things also curses of God?

  • @ROCKYGIRL60617... maybe what these people mean, but have not articulated, is that AIDS is a disease that's primarily contracted via immoral behaviour—irresponsible, promiscuous sex, drug use, etc. Cancer and congenital deformities are not, obviously.

I know, there's the argument that the married man messes around on his wife and brings AIDS to her, but..... still, poor decision making by all parties involved exists in that scenario as well.

  • 1) AIDS is not contracted. HIV is contracted. HIV leads to AIDS.

    2) You state that AIDS (please see correction) is contracted via immoral behaviour. How is a child born with HIV capable of immoral behaviour? What about a person who received a blood transfusion? Where is the immoral behaviour in that?

  • 3) I will agree that congenital deformities are not contracted, yet there are new studies being done all the time on cancer and the different things they stem from. It is now believed that cervical CANCER has some link to sexual activity which would mean IT IS CONTRACTED.

  • HIV/AIDS nitpicking aside, you make interesting points, two of which I knew you would counter with (fetal AIDS and the now-ultra-rare blood-transfusion acquisition). Religious zealots will tell you it all points back to sin, one way or another.

Honestly, I don't have answers for you. I was only trying to give you a broader view of what I suspect that your fellow "commenters" are referring to.

P.S. I contract a runny nose. A runny nose leads to the cold. Got it, RockyGirl... lol

  • Hola prlibrenow!!! Todo bien? Mira, escribe en youtube
