Glad to help out! It just depends on the melody mostly. If you need the open string to be B or if it can be fretted. Open D could work since B minor is the the relative key to D major.
Just keep experimenting and you'll find what works best!

@k14ce2002 Partial capos was one side of the comment. With the normal capo I meant to say you can use particular convenient tunings and transpose them back up to retain the key of the song.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I already know a lot of the material here but I still think it very gracious of you to put this together for those who don't. You are much better at this than you give yourself credit for!
@k14ce2002 Sorry, I was not clear enough. What if verse is in one key, and chorus in another? I arranged Send me an angel by Scorpions recently (D# minor for verse, G# major for chorus) and tried to find an alternate tuning, but ended up just lowering the standard tuning by half-step.
Obviously I don't play, but I like how you describe transposing and keys...will help me when I teach that to newbies! :) You're Youtube groupies are missing out!
Thanks for summing up the process.
What about if a song is in the key of B minor, should I go straight into an open B tuning or should I custom it like C#ADGBF# ?

@k14ce2002
I didn't think of the relative key thanks !
Well the song I'd like to arrange is the famous Don"t speak song by No doubt.
I'm going to try Open D and see where it gets me going !
I must say your arrangements are an inspiration for me, the tunings you use make them more lively compared to standard arrangements.

What happened to the facebook page Chuck? Can't seem to find it.
Would love to hear you arrange "Nickelback - Never Gonna Be Alone" or "Far Away" such amazing songs!

Haha! I did try the Spider capo once. I never took to it very well and returned it.
Thanks for the compliment on the tutorial video. Hope it does help out people
who are trying to learn open tunings!

Great lesson, thanks!
Any tips for tunes that use different keys?

@aprymak
Glad you liked it. Not really anything different to offer for other keys. It would still be the same process.
Using a capo could be an option. Is there a particular key your have a question on?

I had a feeling that is what you meant. That can be tricky. Let me think on this one.
If you can, message me your email and we can communicate that way.

Glad you liked it Max! My approach may seem a bit too analytical for some, but
it works for me. Great job on the mp3 of the score you are doing!
