  • Just love this song!

  • great band love to see them!

  • GREAT!

  • Awesome post!!!!! Love this tune!!!

  • Three ... Lance Hoppen (bass & 1st verse vocal), John Hall (guitar and 2nd verse vocal) and Larry Hoppen (guitar and 3rd verse vocal). 3 of the original 4. Wells Kelly (drummer and brother to the song's author, Sherman Kelly) passed away in 1984.

  • How many of these guys are original to Orleans?

  • The guy in the red shirt clapping his hands knows great music and he looked to be the only person who stood up at the end of the song.. My hats off to him way to go what a great fan.....

  • Listen to those brothas, 30 yrs later, tear up King Harvest's "Dancin In The MooooonLIGHT"!!

  • Great live Band Top Orleans (greetz. bassplayer dutch band The Caverns)

  • Great live music

  • My arteries SO constricted 'bout ten seconds after watching this ... I'm lucky to be alive.

  • really good

  • Nice version guys. Ahhh the memories...

  • this song rocks "praise Jesus!" :)

  • ***excellent***

  • Old skool; ie, the ability to sing.

  • I just wish there were more great groups like this in rock & pop music today., more guitarists/songwriters like John Hall and more singers like Larry Hoppen.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song

  • Still the ones, you guys ...you just get better with time, like fine wine !!

  • WOW! They still got it!

  • I like this version better than when King Harvest did it and I LOVED King Harvest's version. Maybe it's because this version is "live" or maybe the calypso-reggae sound it has

  • I can't believe how good these guys sound! Thats what I call having church!

  • i thougt king harvest wrote this!

  • @Canaboy12 The writer is Sherman Kelly while in the Ithaca NY-based band Boffalongo, 1969. That band also contained his brother Wells Kelly and Larry Hoppen, both of whom left Boffalongo to join John Hall to form Orleans. Sherman and other Ithacan musicians formed King Harvest and had the hit version in 1973.

  • grear song

  • Some songs just evoke a deep down emotion that can't be explained. This is one of those songs!

  • How Cool is this?

  • strat tone is great, and larry is woof as usual.

  • i love how there isn't a single teenager in the audience...i'd be the one there dancing and singing...and i'm 18.

  • I like that guy's voice. (1:54)

it reminds me of toy story, lol. xD

  • These old guys are really good.. GO HEAD....

  • these guys did a fantastic job of remaking this classic. they even ironed out the the pitch problems of the original vocals.

  • O My Garage- I did dance in the moonlight on the beach parking lot IMPROMPTU with about 2 dozen others who had this song cranked UP on the truck & car stereos... THIS is what the Music of Orleans does to people! I am in love with the music of Orleans AND the musicmen who make it happen!!! Love to you all! I am a bonife fan now - have mercy!

  • love this song xD

  • In February of 1973 as I prepared to depart for home for the last time from Fort Bragg, NC, I called the local radio station and dedicated this fine song to all the girls who worked Gillespie St, in Fayetteville. I wanted to bid them a fond farewell. That was so long ago and I was so young ... what a wonderful memory that moment is! It's great to know that these fellows are still out there making music.

  • wow! reminiscing old days just made one smile...

  • How long ago was this concert?

  • Great band, great song, great version.

Why all the bitching and moaning? Just enjoy it, for cryin' out loud!

  • This is a great show... Now I know what John Hall does when Congress is in recess...

    Wonderful music...

  • Bravo! I love it.

  • Man why don't these guys get honorable mention with 70's music? Some more greats from my teen years..

  • GREAT vocals...GREAT talent!! LOVE it!! Thanks

  • I usually don't like covers, but this was good.

  • It's a great song and anyone that loves it should cover it. They did a good job . It must have been fun . But that was no King Harvest.

  • This song was originally written by a member of Boffalongo- Larry Hoppen's band in Ithaca pre "Orleans" and he later took it with him to King Harvest - he still resides in Ithaca!

  • this is awesome!!!!!

  • yes still the one and dancing in the moon light r here woo hoo!!!!

  • Love this version, sounds great!

  • wow

  • Not the same... King harvest keeps my vote...

  • no way...

    toploader gets mine...

  • Toploader's version had a more robust feel to it. That's why I like there's better.

  • I like most of the versions I've heard, but my favourites would be this one but even better would be King Harvest.

  • This is an awesome cover. I love the tropical sound, the beginning kinda sounds like "Fool if you think its over" by Chris Rea.

Regardless, lovely. You still got it gentlemen ;)

  • This song is called dancing in the moonlight... originally by Sherman Kelly

  • Well, completely regardless of who did what when, this is awesome and I would go see these guys anytime. Hey how about Summerfest in Milwaukee?

  • LOL! We played A Taste of Madison this past season. Maybe we CAN get to Milwaukee! If you know anyone to contact, reach us through OrleansOnline.c ... Thanks!

  • I know a lil' 'bout this. Boff recorded the song first, as Lance says, with Sherm singin in '69. That verion was on UA LP Beyond Your Head. 3 yrs later '72, Orleans formed and played Dancin' at ALL gigs. In 1973 Doc sang lead on KHarv's hit version. Anyone can cut anybody else's song. Orleans has a true connection to Dancin'; the Orleans version is similar in tempo and feel to the original, intentionally. Room for both, no?

  • Boffalongo was STILL Doc Robinson....It was Sherm Kelly that first sang the song. It was DR that made it a hit! YOU don't know your history. It was NEVER an Orlenes song until they copied from King Harvest. SOOORY you don't know athe right history.

  • Doc Robinson WAS a member of Boffalongo, which predated both Orleans and King Harvest. Larry Hoppen (Orleans) and Sherman Kelly (writer & singer, King Harvest) cut the song in '69 with Peter Giansante on drums, Doc on bass. Doc later sang the hit version in King Harvest. Boff played the song at every gig, as did Orleans in the early days, prior to the King Harvest hit. That's why we feel connected to the song and recut it, with Sherman's blessing. That's all there is to it. Lance from Orleans.

  • This should be left to the original artist "KING HARVEST" and Dave Robinson's voice! Sorry I can't be more on your dide.....

  • Soory on you, you don´t know the history.

This is an "Orlens song". King Harvest made a good cover on this one. Though King Harvest is associated with "Dancin' in the Moonlight", it's just a cover. The original is by Buffalongo, who released two albums on UA in 1969 and 1970. Former ORLEANS!!! YEAH!!!

  • SOOORY you don't know your history. Yes, Boffolongo did the song. Sherm Kelly sang it first but DR made it a hit. It was NEVER an Orlenes song untilk copied from King Harvest.
