LOL it's actually one of the most difficult to play. Requires a lot of air and has a unique embouchure. It usually takes people a while.

I cannot thank you enough for broadcasting this incredible performance. You must surely be one of the best flute choirs in the country. I play the bass flute and this is one of the greatest ensembles that I have ever seen.

Hey, does the Bass flute play on the Treble cleff? i play the flute and want to switch over.

In response, oldgeezstolemymoney, yes, the Bass flute plays on the Treble Clef. It sounds an octave lower than is written. I play the Bass Flute and also compose and arrange for my Flute Choir...it's a great instrument to play and has a very haunting sound if you choose to use it in that way as opposed to the normal usage.

Agreed!! I love hearing great flute ensembles. I have a bass flute myself, but it isn't quite low enough!! Someday I aim to own a contrabass.

Do you play your bass flute in a concert band?

Just once. :-) A few years ago, in the concert band I'm in, there was this piece of music we did based on old renaissance dances, and it had a bass flute part. It was in a quieter part of the piece and you could hear the bass.. It was cool.
