Nice sound. Check my short HiFi Ltd videos that show the sounds coming from a close cousing of the Vox AC15. Handwired in 60s with a simple mod I use the 6br7 (similar to EF86 pentode) channel or the triode channel ECC83. Also check the Pure Tone page in Facebook for more info and pics.
The vox is a lot more sparklee over the fender amps, but fender cleans are by far better, I love that vox chime, but it can get a bit treblee, and hars in places, U need to even that out, and fender amps do that perfectly, and the vibro king is a fine candidate, plenty of sparkle, but not to much were it is harsh

This is why Greenbacks are a better all round speaker and why VOX put them in their amps. Blues are overrated in forums by lead players because they can cut through the mids of other instruments.
Blues are great for cutting leads but are too harsh for most mid voiced dominated rhythm playing.
@djangolad word! this is so true-- the greenback and stock chinese tubes, gaspgasp, are perfect for reaching the sweet spot of this exceptional amp and it is a "aggressive" rhythm player's dream rig for $600
if one wants to put another $800 bucks of mods into this why not just get a nice $2k handwired boutique
Buy a fricking tuner! Use it! Not to have stopped at 00:06 when you heard the open G that badly out of tune made this "demo" jangly, jarring and a little frightening.
Very punchy and bright that was. Not to my likings but these amps can put out some very sweet and warm tones. Don't let this video discourage you from getting one. If you have the cash, check out 65 amps. They are very well made with the British made crunch you try to find in these but overall they are both very delightful amps
i bought an ac15 last week and im loving it...it dont have the celestion blue but i love its warm tone and the tremolo is extremely good...i like the tremolo at about 3 oclock on both speed and trem and the results are amazing....when i play it along with my memory toy i almost have an orgasm...
for $600 you don't get the celestion blue speaker. You get the wharfdale speaker, some people really like the wharfdale, but it in no way compares to the blue.
the wharfdale is a less full sound, the speaker that is made for the ac15's is more similar to a celestion greenback. less lows, pushed mids, but that can be what some people are looking for. The vox sound always comes from a celestion blue. With the blue added it is $999US. Or you can save $50US by buying the speaker and amp separately and installing it yourself. Also check out Weber speakers, they make a copy of a blue for $200, I have that in mine and love it.
just have to hear this amp is person. probable recording equipment ate this demo. the AC 15 is one of the best sounding amps i've heard at any price .
can this ac15 good for basement practice with a full band?.. hope you can answer my question..peace i think radiohead used this amp during their basement session or they used the ac30? helped me..thanks
It will sound great for practice. This amp can push really hard and in a basement, it usually harder walls and if your have carpet it will help dampen the sound so you don't get so much resonance. If you put it in the corner you will deffinatly be able to hear it, as well as everyone else. Just pray that your drummer isn't pounding away on his set. And I think it was an AC30 that they used in the recording the basement session.
It's perfect for band practice. Some rooms with hard surfaces may force you to turn it down a little...any room with enough padding and you can crank the master volume. That's the beauty of it because cranked it keeps up with a drummer and sounds better and more responsive.
Once you get used to cranking any good amp you won't go back to high power amps played at 1/4 volume.

Sounds like a Tele in the middle position with an out-of phase wiring issue.

imagine this with a treble booster on a danelectro in the treble pickup, it'd rip the hairs out of ones ear

Too much treble, which is why the Top Cut knob is very handy on these. lol

I love this amp so much, I own it and it's really all I use. But that said, your tone here is too trebly for my taste. I'm getting the ice pick.
