I remember playing lone wolf when I was a kid. I think I was in 4th or 3rd grade when I bought one of their books. It was fun, I recall there being a lot of weapons you could use in the back of the book.
I must say I am very upset that your advertiser is Drivethru RPG I was really upset when wizards forced downloads of 4ed off there site and we can't get our purchased product or a refund.
@pspboy7 the part where they fail is that they did not clear it with Wizards before they marketed the books and refuse a refund for a product that should never have been marketed with out approval.
Your sentences are incomprehensible. But let me reply to what I THINK you are saying:
Drivethru only markets PDFs it has permission from publishers to market, as it gives the lions share of the profits to the publishers. WotC decided that selling PDFs = enabling piracy, and stopped selling PDFs. They then ORDERED Drivethru to take down everything, and Drivethru complied. Your beef is with WotC.
Yes, but still under that circumstance there should be either a refund for store credit or another solution. Rather than "oh well your product is null and void" even though you paid us retail for our .pdf file. There should be some compensation for the money (in my case a almost 300 usd spent on DnD manuals and other products in that genre by WoTC) even if a 25-50% return as store credit. It would encourage those who have lost money into further purchases. I loved there product.
@mt51784 Wait I've never bought any Wotc products through dt rpg (I always assumed that the publishers were marketing through dt). Are you saying that Wotc banned dt from publishing their pdfs, somehow deleted said pdfs from your computer (didn't even think that was possible) and that dt didn't refund your money?
BTW I thought mt's post was fine I don't know what azirk is talking about.
@Limejello10512 WotC stopped letting anyone sell PDF's of their books some time ago, in an effort to stop piracy of their material. This meant that Drive Through RPG had to remove all WotC products from their website, as did any other online PDF sales company. If you had a WotC product in your shopping cart on the site, it went away. However, if you had bought a WotC PDF before the mandate came down, there's no way it can be removed from your PC remotely.
@rc7771 Okay that's what I thought.... So if there wasn't actually any money spent on these products what could they possibly they have to refund? Or are you saying you couldn't download it after purchasing it?
@Limejello10512 As far as I know, anyone who had a WotC item in their shopping cart when WotC's deadline on selling PDF's came lost the item out of their cart. I never bought WotC PDF's because I always bought the books, but I did hear people say that they had bought the PDF right before the deadline and could not download it after. I seem to remember Drive Through warning buyers to make sure they download right away if they bought a WotC product near the deadline.
@rc7771 Hm well if the deadline was announced beforehand that might make a better piece in their defense. However normally I'd say if they purchased a product and never got to download it they should get a refund.
@Limejello10512 The "deadline" was about 12 hours notice. The sore point is that even though you paid for the pdf, you are no longer allowed to download it. If you failed to notice the deadline you were screwed. WOTC got your money and too bad if you didn't make a backup (which you arguably never needed before). DTRPG at least got WOTC to allow a 24 hour download window a few days later but that's it.
@noffham dude that is messed up...in fact if you didn't see it it's illegal, they should have given you your money back. Though i have to admit I am surprised you didn't download the books immediately. But then if it's $2-300 dollars of stuff am I correct to assume you had a slow computer and didn't finish downloading it in time? Oh well at this point my advice is illegal torrent.... that'll show em.
The good news is, for a few more days the coupon code for the core book works as well! Just be sure to buy the books one at a time, as for some reason you can only use one coupon per order...
I like that, while it's using some fantasy tropes, it seems to be mixing it up in interesting enough ways, not just trying to carbon copy an existing setting from somewhere else (other than Lone Wolf, of course).
Where do you guys go to play these games?

@mt51784 That's the fault of Wizards of the Coast, not Drive Thru RPG dot com then.

But, am not concerned that if I make any purchases in the future that I might end up with the same results.

Great review like always, Kurt. This expansion to Lone Wolf makes me interested in picking it up now that choices exist.
