  • This is the best part of the movie. Skin that Grizz and I'll get you another. LOL

  • Grizz is a good friend.

The kind that tries to kill you when you feel like dying.

  • It's not a good idea, he's going to aggro every bears in a 40 yard radius

  • "skin that one pilgrim and i'll get ya another bwahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!"

  • "thatd be farrrrrrr enough....pilgrim" bahahahah

  • Comment removed

  • Josh Brolin should play him and the Cohn Brothers can direct and produce

  • "blood kin to the grizzer that bit jim britcher's ass." ROFL

  • "had one ready to shake hands"... Griz.... grandpa Walton was a busy guy, next a conspiracy in Dallas..

  • practical jokes were dangerous in those days

  • Oh you gotta love it!

  • A true American classic, I bet Hollywood doesn't even attempt a remake of this one!

  • Oliphant would make a good Jeremiah.

  • If not for Bear Claw Jeremiah would not have made it much longer. Every hero has a mentor. With all the movie remakes maybe they should re make this one and Redford could play Bear Claw. Although some films like this should be left alone. Great movie!!!!!

  • @roblynchjr That's a great idea, Redford as Bear Claw! It kind of comes full circle then. But who would play Jeremiah? I nominate Les Stroud.

  • @Lojikbom Daniel-Day Lewis.

  • @Lojikbom Viggo Mortensen could play Jeremiah.

  • @FloydofOz

    I could see that

  • @Lojikbom How about Josh Brolin as the next Jeremiah ?

  • @Lojikbom I would nominate Karl Urban.

  • @roblynchjr i totally AGREE!!!

  • why cant they make more movies like this?

  • why cant they make more movies like this?

  • With an E..

    lol

  • Chris Lapp gives some classic one liners here. Almost as manny as BILL TYLER!!! LOL

  • lol i love chris's laugh

    ehehhahaaggahh!

  • "Now boy are you shor that you can skin grizz."

"Just as fast as you can find em."

  • what a show love it!

  • I have been in snow that deep. Its hard to get through

  • When Greer runs laughing as the Griz chases him this is pure classic. "Skin at un Pilgrim..."

  • thats not greer thats bear claw that laughs

  • there isnt a scene in this movie that isnt brilliant!!!Will Geer owns every scene he is in!! I love the quiet nature of the film. the cinemetography seems haunting to me.

  • haha i love it.

  • ha ha ha skin that one pilgrim I'll get anothern

  • "Hungry too huh, come onnn!"

  • Grizz!!!

One of my favourite parts of the movie.

  • Grandpa Walton at his best.

  • i know who you are, you'r the same dumb pilgrem i've been hearing for 20 days and smelling for 3.

    LOL - love it.

  • that Hatchet Jacks Rifle-?

    ya!

    how'd you get it-?

found him froze to a tree!.....

    love it.

  • yeah, i saw the movie years and years ago so i don't really remember, but wasn't the message on the paper in the frozen man's lap something like: "who finds me here he can take my riffle. it is very good riffle. i shot three bears with it" :-) simply wonderful :-)

  • i, hatchet jack being of sound mind and broke legs. hereby leavith my bear rifle to what ever finds it, lord hope it be a whiteman. it is a good rifle and kilt the bear that kilt me. anyways i am dead. your truely hatchet jack.

  • I think every YOUNG'N should see this movie. I can't count how many times I've watched this or done some of this (kill to eat)! The next generation must see this and appreciate it and/or realize the impact we all make in nature.

  • Anouther all time favorite. Im only 18 and even I know who Will Geer is LMAO. I must be odd for my generation.

  • i'm 15 and love this movie,

    hahaha

    its all good.

  • im not that much of a child...

  • Well your right also , my spelling and grammar aint the best , but you know, I was right . Pollack did mortgage his home , you too tell can check into it if you want , Heck , as far as I know you might learn a little fact to go along with your English lesson .

  • weil im only 13 idk who the hell he is

  • Well I think your right Shino, ol Bear Claw dose have strange laugh , to me it sounds like some crazy old coot, not much different then some old coots that we both have heard hooping it up to make a point. The laugh adds to the nature of Bear Claw and the role Geer was playing I kinda think .

  • Naw, Its loosely based from a book by Vardis Fisher called Mountain Man ,Pretty much fiction however. Story goes that Pollack mortgage his home to finance this movie . Far as your opinion about the movie, well its just that , your opinion . Too each his own I would have to say . Personally I think your opinion sucks as well as your information regarding this film. Cheers

  • i love this movie and i love the guy who laughs like a retard its so damn funny

  • true story ppl, they ended movie like they did because they werent sure if he went into canada or not. this is my favorite part of movie.

  • Was this movie complete fiction or was it based in part or entirely on someone's real life, a mountain man named Jeremiah Johnson? And missing in the movie was Jeremiah's constant companion: his pet duck, Henry.

  • Based loosely on the life of "Liver-Eater" Johnson (I forget his first name). This movie is great, I'm 17 and its one of my favorites. Goes to show that a great motion picture can be enjoyed by someone as young as I 30 years after it's made.

  • paints his shirt speaks english, he just does this to anoy me.... they'll steal our horses unless we bribe them, they figure its there land and we are tresspassing..

  • @ssmandavid It's there land and figure we're trespassing.

  • Whats on the spit? ---Grown particular ? I guess my favorite saying would have to be Meanest B-tch that ever b-lled for beads. Ok all you J.J cult followers tell me , what state was this movie filmed in ? Also, for fifty points, whats the name of the river where river boat captains leave gold if you chop wood . Good thing to know when times get hard.

  • Utah and the Edith .. at least it sounds like "Edith".

I'll post more when I get some time for all you hardcore fans. ;)

  • LORD.

  • Well good enough Lojikbom, but remember,---the day that you terry is the day that you loose.

  • the day that you "tally" is the day that you loose...

  • filmed in Idaho, the river is called the "Judith" and is in Montana where the story takes place. read the "Crow Killer" and "Mountain Man" both have his life story. he died in 1900 and is burried at the Buffalo Bill Historical center in Cody Wyoming.

  • It is tally, you're right the river is the Judith . It was filmed in Utah . Us J.J-ites could stand a little brushing up. About the only time I watch J J is just befor the Elk hunt. I grew up with this tradition from my father who liked this film more than most I bet. So what dose this film have and why is it this movie has some sort of attraction that would cause others to in-dear themselves to a movie over thirty years old? Speak up Nothing wrong with quiet except this time. Yes?

  • i believe it is the attraction of being totaly free, no hasles, to live and die at you own liesure and beholding to no one. like henry david thorough said " i go to the wilderness to see if i can learn what it has to teach, and realize when i come to die that i had not lived at all". live free or die trying.

  • Pretty deep there David and well said. Before I jump into these still waters and try to reach the bottom of this subject I think out of respect for our host and provider, Lojikbom , I'm going to wait for their input as well . Naw, I'm not afraid of getting wet, just dont want to muddy up the water with out showing a little consideration first. Judging by your last response I'm sure you understand why I feel this way .

  • @Lojikbom The Judith River, I think. I'm pretty sure

  • @1yankie the juite and as for where it was filmed its all on redford's property

  • @stonedimaculate1983

nope stoney , best you read the credits where this film was made ... I can tell you dont live in Utah or you would have known better lol

  • @1yankie Filmed in Utah. The Judith River.

  • @1yankie no its "i never could find no tracks in a womans heart" and "a womans breast is the hardest rock the allmighty ever put on this earth, and i can find no sign on it"

  • They'll cut you, me, caleb, and the horses from crotch to eyeball with a dull dear antler.

  • you forgot: if you value your life you will get married, besides she might not be half bad either...

  • False. it's "besides, maybe she ain't near bad."

  • excellent, more please. and thank you.

  • Ahhh, leave it be . . . nothin' wrong with the quiet.

  • that hatchet jacks rifle, yah, howd you get it?, found him froze to a tree.

  • Well alright , good ole Jeremiah. One of my fav movies, You know there is some what of cult following from this movie , might surprise you how many folks have most of the movie verbally mesmerized, well it did me if you run in the right circles I guess . Thanx.

  • Skin that'un pilgram and I'll git you another!
