This offering by Aaron's sons is a prime example of how our "good works" offering are not just not good enough, but are offensive to the Lord. Good works are good for favor, but when the Lord made His covenant with us, it was conditional. Conditional with the fact that a sin offering was to be very specific; which eventually Jesus fulfilled. Love the Word.
@TheLORDismySheperd1 To me, an indication of what happened may be in verse 9: "Do not drink wine or strong drink thou, nor thy sons with thee...." Coud it be that they entered the Most Holy of Holies drunk?? Plus they may've eaten something in an unclean place (v.13). A bar? Ministering before the Lord thoroughly stoked is the fastest, surest way out of the ministry, as Nadab and Abihu found out the hard way. No amount of "good works" could have set THAT straight! but the Blood...
