there was some dumb stuff in this movie here and there, but for me personally it's the only next generation film that actually feels like a film, and not a long episode
@SuperboyXX0018 it was actually "kill everything on that ship... then set a course for earth, we must complete our mission" but it was changed to "set a course for earth....kill everything" to make the movie seem more exciting and appealing to audiences
The only flaw with this film was that it was bloody obvious the cast were tired of ST. The fire was gone, and I don't blame them.
However, I regret not having seen Nemesis at the Cinema because I took heed of the negative reviews. The space battles alone were worth the price of admission, and Tom Hardy was an interesting villian to round off TNG, although one does wonder why they didn't go for Q..."finish where they started" and all that...
@xBloodXGusherx blood, berman was trying anything and everything to keep star trek hip so he used one of the oldest plot tools which was to kill off a main character, but he gave us another data clone so technically speaking data isnt lost. Berman tried to hard to jam everything into this movie instead of getting back to what made str trek awe inspiring which was great writing and drama. Also every movie the next generation was in had some long space battle instead of good drama.
@xBloodXGusherx brent spiner wanted to leave data in the past for himself. initially, he was gonna be "downloaded" into a, possibly female, role replacement. Killing him was the better way for the fans, because they didn't have to lose him to a replacement, and later he can still resurface in another way, humanoid or not. But it's over for this cast for the most part now. Cameos in new stuff, if we get any.
@reboandzooty I agree, it was a disappointment. I think the director of the movie is to blame for that. The script for Nemesis was good but the movie itself was executed poorly ansd not very well directed. A lot of good scenes were cut out of the movie, a director's cut would improve the movie a lot but the death of Data was the most disappointing element of the movie- just horribly written and executed. Oh well, Nemesis came out nearly 10 years ago so it's a bit too late to turn the clock now
I thought this movie was pretty good, I don't know why people thought it was bad, except that Data died. I do agree that First Contact was the best Next-Gen Star Trek, but I thought all the movies had something cool to offer.
You know, I can watch [Nemesis] again and again, and there's ONLY ONE thing that makes me think that this movie sucks - it's Data's death.
OK, maybe there's some lame moments (that happens with 9 movies of 10), but I prefer to watch without noticing them. I love ST-universe, I love TNG-crew, so I simply enjoy the show.
Does anyone know why Jonathan Frakes didn't direct Nemesis? I thought he did a good job with First Contact and Insurrection, so it seems odd that they wouldn't ask him back for this one.
I also thought Nemesis was quite good, although not the best "trek movie" but still quite a good one. For me "Contact" is the best Trek film of the "Nex-gen" crew. And Im kinda Imbetween Wrath of Kahn and Hmmm, I honestly cannont think of another1 of the "Kirk crew." I think they cud hav built on more after Nemesis. Made a Star Trek movie that focuses on the Federation Fleet, instead of just the one famous main ship.
@MrSausagemcmuffin: well, it´s your opinion...However I wouldn´t say so. All the movies, TV series, fantastic episodes...What´s more, Star Trek has more developed characters, more developed universe, "technology" etc. In addition - Star Trek was first, Star Wars came after it, so...Star Trek has a lot of philosophy as well not to mention all the atmosphere...
This is a classic example of one of the best franchises of all time milked to the last drop. This is a mirror copy of Wrath of Khan, with fancy effects.
star wars is way better? yes one single story is so engaging. star trek has so many stories that actually have deep meaning to them. im not bashing star wars, i love both. but trek is so much more complex and intriguing.
@awestcody The "Star wars vs Star Trek" bebate it so pointless, it will never end, there are an euqual army of fans that favor either one, and will say whichever one is better. Star Wars is pure fantasy, Star Trek is sci-fi that does hav some science fact. I mean when we think of Kirks "Tri-corder" quite ahead of its time bk in the 60s, thinking about it is basically a "Mobile Phone." Even the theory of Warp travel has been speculated by scientists. I myself cannont say which is better, both gud
why people bash this so badly is a mystery to me. the theme of this movie is exactly what gene roddenberry always wanted in star trek. star trek is all about humanity and what it means to be human. thats EXACTLY what this film exemplifies. i mean when picard and shinzon meet one on one for the first time, shinzon flat out asks him "what does it mean to be human"
it was a flop cause it didn't do well box office wise. But there are alot of film classics that were flops, like Scarface. but I personally loved the film. Made me tear at the end, even though it was kinda a rip off a wrath of khan.
scarface is one of the best movies of all time you fuking idiot if you didnt like it then you have problems mate wat wasnt to like about scarface good story good acting guns bitches drugs cars money more drugs and star trek is a good film to ass hole
A lot of people says that this movie is was worst of all TREK movies and i really i dont know why....I mean is a lot better than gENERATIONS or INSURRECTION,,and of course than TREK V...And is very good like TREK VI,TREK III,TREK IV..so i think this movie deserves better fame that right now holds.
@elcap22 AND he will reprise this same role in the new Star Trek film franchise, and he will travel to the past to kill the ancestors of jean luc picard, and destroy earth!!!
Being a long time Star Trek fan since kidhood I thought this was a decent and slightly exciting and even perhaps an acceptable closing entry for the "Next Generation" crew. The Wrath of Khan and Evil bad guy almost kill all the creative and entertaining aspects of the movie; culminating in a series of overdramatic B.S. Sci-fi scenes harkening back to the cheesy retro alien films of old. This is definitely a case in which STar Trek's history/legacy was haunting it's present and even future.
I'd say it was the 2nd best next gen movie (first contact being the best)
as for it flopping i remember missing it at the cinema because the week it came round i was on a late shift at work and the following week it had gone.
my point being the studio didn't give it the promotion or release schedule it deserved
I never really understood this movie. There were several episodes with Lore yet nobody on the Enterprise makes the connection at all when they find B-4.
Best scene though was when Picard transports over the last time. Geordi tells him that the transporter will only work once and sure enough after he transports the console fucking explodes!
The writing in this movie is so badly flawed... Shinzon is dying, so let's have dinner tomorrow Picard and chat and waste time before he kidnaps you...dumb... the whole B4 thing... dumb...
@gamithoume because it has a shit storyline, thats depressing and the plot is basic crap full of just boring fighting, thats why. but your entitled to your view.
@gamithoume The previous 3 films sucked horribly, and people were fed up with the lack of effort in the writing and screenplay so they steered clear of the 4th installment. Which is too bad, because I think the producers finally got their act together by the 4th film, finally treating the characters and story from the TV series with some respect and dignity.
@gamithoume one of the problems with this film is that less and less peopel were turning out to see star trek movies. The next generation mvoies were trying to hard to be hip and more and more of the younger people at that time wanted to see films like fast and the furious, not scifi. The late 90's and early 2000's were kind of a low point for scifi movies.
All credit to Channel 4(Television channel in Britain) to have shown all the feature films from the Motion Picture 1979 to "Nemesis" 2003 on 10 consecutive Saturdays.
Now this weekend, they are showing them all 10 films over 2 days!!!!
im not a star trek fan by any means. i havent seen a single episode of any of the series or any of the movies, even the new one. but this looks interesting
Actually, I felt like the new abram's trek used a lot of elements from this movie in the new film. Bald romulans with a gigantic pointy ship, lots of green, and all of earth is at risk (which apparently First Contact started the trend of making Trek films into "omg, we have to save the Earth" flicks).
Actually, the final seconds of this trailer is how Nemesis SHOULD have ended- two starships colliding and an explosion, embracing both crews. Like the annihilation of particle and anti-particle.
This would be a grand exit of the not so grand generation.
i hate the tv shows but i love the star trek moive eveyone for the last moive oh its star trek is going to be shit when eveyone went to watch it it was epic
@JordanSayz haha fair enough m8, think we are all entitled to have one of those from the series of movies, mine would most likely be insurrection lol
While Nemesis was a bad movie (but not the worst) and NOT the fitting epic end to the TNG saga everyone hoped for, it had one of the best soundtracks of any Trek movie.
Nicholas Meyer, who wrote and directed Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, was offered to direct Star Trek: Nemesis but he said he would only direct the movie if he could rewrite the script but he wasn't allowed to so he declined the offer
We can only wonder what Nicholas Meyer's Star Trek Nemesis would have been like
@elcap22 Nicolas Meyer is the best option and can make really good Star Trek Movies such as ST2 TWOK and ST6: The Undiscovered Country. TNG too would have a good send off with Meyer at the helm if it wasn't Paramount getting in the way. I'm on the same boot as you man.
The trailer has high hopes, but when I came from the theater, the movie was a let down.
I was excited when this trailer came out, I thought it was about the dark mirror universe / terran empire. I was so disappointed to find out it was about the Romulans.
Jonathan Frakes directed Insurrection and it wasn't great. The movie was inherently flawed right down to the script, I don't think a different director really would have made enough of a difference to make this a good movie.
@JustAnswerMyQuestion Nemesis flopped because it came out at about the same time as The Two Towers, The Chamber of Secrets, and Die Another Day. Blame the fucking market saturation!
@JustAnswerMyQuestion Lot of things... most (although still not all, believe it or not) are on Red Letter Media's review. Just type "Red Letter Media Nemesis" and you should see what I'm talking about.
@MrKittrider2000 I agree with you 100%. This movie should have been the benchmark for all Trek movies to follow. I don't know why it didn't do better.
I dont know why the people hate this movie...I mean is a lot better than V,GENERATIONS and INSURRECTION...I like it very much when i see it,,,This and FIRST CONTACT are the best for me of STNG movies.
Why do you have a shinny head ?

I'm a huge Star Trek fan and I couldn't stand this movie. In fact, I had erased it from my memory until AMC started playing it all the time.

@DronetekPolitics
I am curious, which ones did you like?, after all, if you are such a big Star trek fan you must have liked at least 2 or 3 of the movies
aramiris 1 year ago
Khan Rip off or not the movie is still shit
oiramldx 1 year ago
Shinzon kind of reminds me of nero from the new star trek movie!
Antimatter050 1 year ago
@Antimatter050
JulyForToday 1 year ago
Oh yeah, and ramming ships into the enemy. Except Nemesis did that way better. Definitely the best part.
JulyForToday 1 year ago
I seen this movie like 9x's, good flick!!
Antimatter050 1 year ago
Compared to Insurrection and Generations, this was a masterpiece.
Hethrin 1 year ago
@Hethrin
indeed it was, only First contact comes close to this, from the TNG movies.
aramiris 1 year ago
haha this shitwad compared to wrath of kahn? Who even DARES to speak such tripe? Such awful opinions should be under General Order 7.
TheJunglesound 1 year ago
All of the movies have great villains.
Generations: Dr. Whats-his-face and Time :]
First Contact: The Borg
Insurrection: The Soren
and Finally, Nemesis: The Romulans, The Remans, and the clone of Jean-Luc Picard...
It don't get no better than that.
In0tuhTR3KKi3 1 year ago
Actually, the final seconds of this trailer is how Nemesis SHOULD have ended- two starships colliding and an explosion, embracing both crews. Like the annihilation of particle and anti-particle.
This would be a grand exit of the not so grand generation.

Anyone curious as to what ole' Shinzon has been up to lately? Just look up "Bronson trailer"

The only thing that would help its lameness further would be to have them saving the whales by traveling through time.

I actually liked this movie. I really don't know why you guys are giving it so much hate.
Kekkiki 1 year ago
This was a pretty bad movie, but it was not as bad as The Final Frontier, Generations, or Insurrection. Those three were all really bad.
deathwishtaco 1 year ago
This one is cool. It's not that bad.

the first full length movie from star trek the next generation
jssstephenson 1 year ago
Nemesis was okay, not the worst. It was a rip off of The Wrath of Khan though, which was of course the best!
thundersnake1 1 year ago
While Nemesis was a bad movie (but not the worst) and NOT the fitting epic end to the TNG saga everyone hoped for, it had one of the best soundtracks of any Trek movie.
IMO Insurrection was far worst than Nemesis.

Nicholas Meyer, who wrote and directed Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, was offered to direct Star Trek: Nemesis but he said he would only direct the movie if he could rewrite the script but he wasn't allowed to so he declined the offer
We can only wonder what Nicholas Meyer's Star Trek Nemesis would have been like
elcap22 1 year ago 3
A billion times better than this crap. That's for sure.
billyboyjennings 1 year ago
Would have been much better then the crap they did make...who the hell wrote the script anyways?
Dalbert342 1 year ago
@elcap22 Nicolas Meyer is the best option and can make really good Star Trek Movies such as ST2 TWOK and ST6: The Undiscovered Country. TNG too would have a good send off with Meyer at the helm if it wasn't Paramount getting in the way. I'm on the same boot as you man.
The trailer has high hopes, but when I came from the theater, the movie was a let down.
indyfan2 1 year ago
I was excited when this trailer came out, I thought it was about the dark mirror universe / terran empire. I was so disappointed to find out it was about the Romulans.

dixienurmus69 1 year ago
This would had been the best Star Trek if Jonathan Frakes had directed
oiramldx 1 year ago
Jonathan Frakes directed Insurrection and it wasn't great. The movie was inherently flawed right down to the script, I don't think a different director really would have made enough of a difference to make this a good movie.

Because it was shit.

@JustAnswerMyQuestion Nemesis flopped because it came out at about the same time as The Two Towers, The Chamber of Secrets, and Die Another Day. Blame the fucking market saturation!

@JustAnswerMyQuestion I know, right?

@JustAnswerMyQuestion Lot of things... most (although still not all, believe it or not) are on Red Letter Media's review. Just type "Red Letter Media Nemesis" and you should see what I'm talking about.

@JustAnswerMyQuestion
By giving the last movie in the franchise to a director that knew nothing about it and probably didn't give a shit either.
Star Trek: First Contact was the last of the Next Generation movies, btw. <.<
Cheebzsta 1 year ago
@JustAnswerMyQuestion I don't know. It was the best movie of the NG series.
MrKittrider2000 1 year ago
@MrKittrider2000 I agree with you 100%. This movie should have been the benchmark for all Trek movies to follow. I don't know why it didn't do better.
jasonsg4111 1 year ago
I dont know why the people hate this movie...I mean is a lot better than V,GENERATIONS and INSURRECTION...I like it very much when i see it,,,This and FIRST CONTACT are the best for me of STNG movies.
