Comic Book artist are the most under appreciated artist in the world. every single comic book artist I've ever met has a measure of humility and confidience. Cant wait to get into the industry one day.
Wow, it's like watching Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio talking and joking around at the batting cages, while knocking out homeruns that go over the bleachers. Both unbelievable talents. Sounds cliched, but no, we'll never see the likes of them again.
Everything nowadays is no matter how bad the drawing is, just surround it with a big black heavy border and print it. It's accidental garbage manufactured as purposeful tattoos. raw non-art, with no talent involved whatsoever.
I would recognize a drawing by JR senior anywhere. He's too humble in saying he had no style of his own. Instead his style became the canon everyone else followed, including the great Big John Buscema, his brother Sal, Romita Jr. (although Jr. developed a style very much his own) etc.
And Kubert is also a legend, a grand master of the ink and paper, saying "I'm just getting the hang of it". Youngsters should learn from that attitude and never stop improving (talking to you, Liefeld!)
lol they sound like pimps," when you in the game it just stays with you"-joe kubert, man these guys are freaking amazing, there proportions are perfect, i guess he is right after all those years it should come naturally to you.
I find it ironic that Romita refers to his work as "style-less"... with all due respect to Steve Ditko, it was his version of Spider-Man starting with #39 that made Spider-Man one of the two legs (Kirby's Fantastic Four being the other natch) that raised Marvel up and over DC in the mid-60's. it was his romantic depiction of Spider-Man that made the character come alive.
Joe Kubert is God. John Romita Snr is a fantastic artist, but even HE says in the video that Joe is just great. And with Andy and Adam in the biz as well, lets hope for three generations of Kuberts!
john romita sr is awesome but i'm not that much of a fan of JR jr

Kubert and Romita Sr. are both inspiring artists. Hell, I have a 1974 John Romita Sr. drawn Spider-Man poster on my all. I just love his art so much.
