  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

    i achieved what you wanted

    love for this movie

  • I used to dislike watchmen. When I was soft, before I killed

  • I really liked this movie but the directors cut is just amazing

  • what... the fuck. i saw this film when i was 12 and i understood everybit and "dark" superheros are Gs

  • This review is fucking retarded. One guy sits and asks the other guy a question about the movie and his opinion on it, whilst the other merely answers like a robot, then the first guy simply sounds blindly interested and continues with another question, like he's on fucking ope or something! Ign\

  • i want that bobba fett hoodie lol

  • I can't stand it when people review movies/games, and rate them based on how true to the original novel/book the game/movie was. They need to be given some leeway, they're movies--made for the sole purpose of entertainment and profit...

  • Is this an actual review or Ign bullshit?

  • I was waiting for the part when they compare it to call of duty

  • i didn't read the books and i understood it perfectly. probably because im not retarded.

  • gotta say the film was very good, 4.5/5 stars for me, there were a few details i did not enjoy but fuck it, it was awesome

  • Yeah, a movie that doesn't throw the moral of the story in your face. Me no get it dum dum!

  • Uhm, I call bullshit

  • I read the graphic novel and, to me, this was the best comic book film I've ever seen.

  • IGN is so gay ur all pervs

    (IGN)

  • "get more right then gets wrong"

    explain?

  • i got to read the comic and i am 10 and saw the movie. what peeps thank of a super heroe is he saved the day. Wachmen kinda stomp on the sentice "save the day". Thats whats so good abowt the comic and movie .

  • I loved watchmen. Never read the comic.

  • i think alan moore is a little over rated in all honesty..

  • Eric needs to shut up and give me that sweet ass sweater!!!

  • I apologize to Mr. Alan Moore on Zack Snyder's behalf, whole-heartedly. Alan deserved much more.

    Don't hate. just sayin'

  • 3 1/2 stars? Extra star on screen, uhhhhhhhhh.

  • @crazyhorse3100 Stupidity at its best, not ign, but you.

  • You know the problem with IGN is they represent most people and the problem with that is most people are idiots.

  • @bluevenom50 Or they just don't get this movie. I've never read the graphic novel, so I couldn't understand half of what was going on here. It's interesting, no doubts about that, but it falls flat in key areas (such as the climactic explanation for why Ozy has turned his back on his fellow superheroes. I had to have that explained to me.) I also don't like Zack Snyder as a director, I find his style to be splintered and inconsistent. IGN was being lenient here...

  • I didn't read the graphic novel and I understood the story.

  • Ign don't know shit

  • are all critics idiots?

  • this was awesome. really realistic.

  • This movie was badass.. of course the book is always going to be better than the movie but really you should judge the movie as a movie not as a book or graphic novel. One of the best movies ever in my opinion of course..

  • this movie sucked

  • @cartoonheroesrock your movie sucked

  • It was a good film but it wasn't great. Visually, there were some parts that were so entertaining. Like the scenes where Rorschach was in jail. Dr. Manhattan's past was captivating and Night Owl dawning the cowl again is also great. But the truth is that there was a lot of shit missing. Watchmen is an amazing story....as a comic book. And that's what makes it one of the best graphic novels ever. Because it takes the comic book medium to a new level. You can't capture that essence in a film.

  • MAN! IGN cant' rate for shit. 3 and a half stars what the fuck is wrong with them. This movie was amazing. "IGN could kiss me ass!"

  • IT IS A TOTAL MASTERPIECE! I bet in the future Watchmen will be included in AFI 100 movies list because people will notice how innovative it was.

  • Need more movies like this one, Fuck Hollywood endings!

  • These guys definitely underestimate movie goers.

  • Eric: EPIC hoodie!

  • @scartwn4lyfe Rorshack was a total Bad ass! It makes me want to go to jail and use That cool line he said!

  • @scartwn4lyfe thats is a gigantic spoiler you goony warn people first >:(

  • @bluevenom50 shit mybad ill take the shit down just now

  • I loved this movie and I never read the books. Acting was great and score.

  • the movie was good

  • 1985?? no more like 1960's i feel

  • @cherrypoppinpoptart the movie spans through the 40s to the 80's

  • I thought it was a little too dark and depressing. The only characters I really cared about were Rorshach and Dr Manhatten. I really just didn't like it that much.

  • Jesus, a lot of hate. I thought the film was right on.

  • this movies is really good but u cant watch it with the same eye and mind as watching a spiderman or batman or x men movie it way diferent than that

  • 3 and a half is fine. I thought the movie was over all done well too, but I think it really had to be two movies instead of one. Stuff that was supposed to feel real emotional was rushed like the Dr and Silk's scene on Mars. I also agree with Silk and Ozymandias not really fitting that well into the cast especially Ozymandias. One of the most creative opening credits I've seen in a movie. I didn't understand the airship scene where inappropriate music is played. The audience laughed

  • Goddamn ign complain so fucking much!

  • i heard there was a naked blue guy in this movie reply to me if thats true

  • @moneymoney12money

you bet your ass their is!

And i loved this movie it was amazing

  • that boba fett hoodie is sick haha

  • i thought the watchmen was a brillant masterpiece its one of my favourite movies. its smart its different and its cgi at its best not to mention i thought the starting intro with bob dylans times are a changing was the best intro of a movie iv ever seen.

my favourite character was the comedian. loved all there back stories aswell.

  • Other than the characters, Jim didn't really give his opinion. He just said that he doesn't think mainstream audiences are ready for this. Inception is an amazing film and has gotten great feedback from mainstream audiences, but were they actually ready for it? Was that not also a 2&1/2 hour think-piece? Were audiences ready for A Clockwork Orange? Or Fight Club? Probably not. Were they bad movies. Just because not everyone's ready for it doesn't mean it's a bad movie.

  • IMO, the film was like cotton candy: fun while it happened, but you feel kinda sick afterwards, at least when you stop and notice how much they changed so many basic messages & themes of the story.

  • I didn't read the graphic novel... but i loved this movie

  • @smokinacs911 u shood read it. its just as good as the movie

  • I saw this yesterday after reading the novel and I thought that it did an ok job but it really is only worth watching if you actually read the novel.

  • Disappointing, well it is diffcult to adapt comic masterpieces on to the big screen, I didnt like Watchmen, and dint like V for Vendetta, for many reasons, one is that on the surface they tell the same story, but it is only a shell, you loose the motivations, that that drive this charcers into doing wht they do. Nothing is impossible to adapt, there have been succesful adaptations of many novels that seemed impossible to film, the Naked Lunch is one example.

  • @TheVetoSkreeemer Watchmen is on that same category, but the people that made this movie was mainly interested on selling tickets, not on making a masterpiece. Taht is why Zack Snyder directed this film, he is a commercial blockbuster director. That explains the endless and boring fight scenes , of Nite Owl, and Silk Spectre vs. numerous inmates, or the x large fight scene of Ozzymandias against Rosarch and Nite Owl. But the motivation, the suspense, Ozzymandias origin, are left of.

  • I have to agree with Jim saying that Malin Ackermen wasnt really a good silk spectre, but i disagree when he said Matthew wasnt a good ozymandias

  • this movie was great and i didnt have a clue what it was when i walked into the movie theatre. after i saw it i was amazed. it deffinetely deserved better reviews.

  • @NextGen6969 in the film there is no such thing as a bad guy because there just human beings

  • Anyone who says this movie was crap was either comparing it to the graphic novel or just didnt have the attention span to understand the deep and intelligent story line

    1. its not fair to compare it to the novel but then again theres no pleasing people who xpected the movie to be 8 hours long

    2. fuck thoes people who were to damn dum to understand it and then say its crap but then go around and say The incredible Hulk film was awsome (true story)

  • Matthew Goode (sorry if i spelled his name wrong) was pretty good as Ozymandias in my opinion.

  • Really? He came off as a cartoon character.

  • i didn't think there was anything particularly wrong with him

  • i wouldnt give it a full 5, but i would give it a 4 out of 5, or at least a 4.5, the extra .5 being for effort. You can tell by how the movie was layed out, how everything was intricately produced, that snyder is a die hard comic book fan, i believe his adaptation of watchmen was his most passionate attempt, better than 300. I didnt adore this movie, but i did love it, I thought it was done extremely well, and have been a fan of alan moore for a long long time. final score for me: 4.5

  • it would feel redundant if The Dark Knight Returns was made into a movie.

  • i love these movie

  • true story telling

  • this movie was fuckin amazing

  • The thing is - you can't take this like Spider-Man or X-Men. The graphic novel was more about questions of fate and morality.

  • I didn't know The Outer Limits was around before the book. Thats cool. Anyway, I like the book better than the movie, but I agree that the change of the ending was a positive one. I didn't like much else. I especially hated that they made the villain so obvious. You can tell he's evil in his first scene, OUCH! That took the surprise out of it completely. I thought it was too violent too, but that might be because some dumbass took her 4 yr. old girl to see it and she kept crying... WTF?

  • the movie was ok but i really just liked it for the sex scenes

  • crap.

  • I loved this film and haven't read the novel yet.

I thought all the character performances were great especially rorschach and the whole plot/story was great as well because it made you think.

    4.5/5

  • omg, best hoodie i've ever seen

  • I loved the book not seen the movie yet!

  • Then what are you waiting for? Do it! DO it now!

  • Comment removed

  • movie was good but the sex scenes were the best lol

  • horrible movie if ya ask me couldnt stand it or follow it at all

  • You probably shouldnt watch movies like watchmen, if you cant follow storyline...

  • i think people are stupid when they say they didnt get it, itwasnt that hard to understand, it deff made u think a lot tho, ive never read the comic but i rele liked this movie

  • @RapedRussianDoll hey dude thats ur opinion, just cuz u like it doesnt mean every1 else has to and just cuz u understood it doesnt mean every1 else should too

  • @RapedRussianDoll if you havent read the comic you really dont understand the movie

  • @RapedRussianDoll Agreed. I like that it's not ultimately about the superhero and villain of the week duking it out with constant special effects (Not that its a bad thing) but more on the flaws that all these heroes endure. Even Dr. Manhattan, Possibly, the most powerful hero of all (can bend matter at his will and can see the past and future simultaneously) is incredibly flawed

  • I think any movie reivew is stupid because everyone has their own opinion , if you think its gona suck its gona suck .

  • I didn't read the graphic novel first I had no trouble understanding the movie. My friends i saw it with had trouble but they prefer the mindless action movies.

  • 1 # and only complaint concerning this movie..too much blue penis

  • that was in the novel, and i have no idea what is such a big deal about it. it would be illogical if he was naked and there was no penis there. and what about mystiques blue tits in the x men films?

apparently the only people who have problems with the blue penis are males, and people who didnt read the novel

im a guy and I forgot the whole penis thing until everyone else made a big deal about it. in a generation where the media makes most of its profit off of selling sex, how hypocritical

  • Hahahaha 0:13 - 0:40 was GTA IV music. (The Journey)

  • No shit

  • i didn't really like the movie, infact i thought it was the worst movie of '09 but than again i didn't really understand its plot or point but maybe if i read the novel i would. Dont be insulted if your a fan i just didn't like the film but i will watch it again and c if i change my mind. Even if i did like the movie i would still have to say that the soundtrack was horrible.

  • Well you're obviously not going to like something that much if you don't understand it.

  • many people didnt like it because they didnt even read the fucking novel. I fucking love the film and i believe that it is a masterpiece

  • you bullshit reviews i hate you it was awesome!

  • Ok, i saw the movie and it was confusing because i didn't read the books.

But it was still awesome because of the graphics, the Soundtrack, the Characters and everything else.

    i love it :D

  • that isnt much a review. why didnt you love it? what are the low points?

  • This review, along with every other IGN video review Game, movie or anything else.

Is just a summary for the written review that goes into more depth and detail about the pros and cons about the product.

  • under the hood was ghost written by the blue man it secretly tells the subconcious plot he divized as the blue man and set in motion for the heroes jokes on us each hero was part of blue man the son of a watchmaker a do gooder a vigilanty a genius a psycho a parent a child a lover all different watch parts to make him whole the black frieghter is the story of a ships crew torn apart left for dead the blue man as the captian and his crew try to return only to kill his love ones
  • WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

And the ship captain from the black frieghter is more of a representation of Ozymandias than Dr. Manhattan.

Ozymandias was trying to stop nuclear war(the black freighter/pirates) from destroying the world (Davidstown), but in the end he became the very thing he was trying to stop(joined the pirates at the end of TBF). Watch TBF dvd and you'll notice the parallels. It's moreobvious when you read the graphic novel though, if you havent already read it.

  • It would have been better if they kep the "Nothing ends, nothing ever ends" line like it was in the book. In the book it's said to Adrain, after he's asked god(dr. manhatttan) if it was the right thing to do "in the end", thus making it apparent that his plan may have been in vein. But in the movie it's Laurie(SS II) who says it to Dan(nite owl II). It's lost a lot of its meaning and point that it had in the GN with that change. That's not to say it wasn't a good movie though, I liked it a lot.

  • did anyone catch the point

that the watchman was about the blue man becomeing a god and changing the world to fit the mold everyone wanted which is heroes and villains with superpowers

he could travel through space and time yet he remained in one fixed point and existed as a single person just for the girl and he aided all the superheros with a plot that he himself did not even know he was doing HE kept it from himself and blinded himself from seeing the future

    watchmen scientists hero

  • wow you got it all wrong, it's mainly about rorsach's investigation for the comedian's death and leading to many plots

  • I wouldn't have minded seeing it uncut in the movies =/.

  • I was worried this would be one of those biased reviews that say things like, "OM bujeebus! You see his penis! THIS MOVIE SUCKS!" Fourtunately, it's a very fair reveiw.

  • it was a fantastic adaptation to the novel. but to me thats all i got out of it. just people performing a cinematic play of watchman. but it was a good movie nontheless.

  • Typical idiot reaction.

  • i hope u know you just made yourself look like the biggest dumbass

  • Its a good movie but not really for the mainstream.

  • i hate how mainstream america is seen as stupid , that this type of "thinking" is too much to handle

  • I reckon, my opinion, as a Watchmen movie it deserves 3.5/5 stars, but as a Superhero and just a plain movie, it deserves 5/5. Don't agree? Then please DONT reply

  • wow... not to really take sides in what ever little conversations you guys are having. But something that really gets annoying is when people end their conversations with Ha hahahahahahaha!! ..... I mean its not like your actually laughing that much( or at all) . and your only putting that hoping that it will help you win your argument.

  • God, how many fuckheads are gonna interfere in this their "perspective"?? Did I say that putting hahahahaha would help me win anything?? No fuckaface! I thought what I said was clever and I found it humorous which is why I put that....If your not a psychic and don't really "know" what someones intended meaning is than shut! your fuckin! mouth!..God!!

  • I love watching online fights between losers on youtube, it really doesn't matter who wins, you're still a pathetic loser whose life consists of computer/tv screen, vasoline, and box sets of anime.

  • lol

  • I love watching little faggot losers that look for online fights on youtube to comment on with a gay ass uneducated description of me that is probably closer to what your life consists of rather than mine..What a suitable screen name! You fuckin jackass!! hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • I love watching online losers who comment on "little faggot losers" who comment on "online fights between losers on youtube ... whose life consists of computer/tv screen, vasoline, and box sets of anime."

Note: I found my comment funny therefore I should win this argument. Which must be case according to cristianizer's later comment.

  • Haha wow and you call me insecure? Alright

  • ok, i dont agree with 3.5 stars but that is reasonable. i am sick of critics giving it 1.5. That is just a disgrace.

  • This is actually a really good review, reflects what I was thinking, especially the "I really wanted to love this movie" part. Mazterpoet83, you need to rub the fanboy jizz off your face because you are pathetic. I'm not sure if you read the graphic novel (and judging by you not mentioning it, I doubt you did) but you really have no place to talk, especially calling it "an unbelievably awesome movie." You really wanted to love it like everyone else, but let that get in the way of taking it in...

  • i didnt read the book and i understood the movie. man i think this movie is a masterpiece! they really went into depth with the whole cold war and riots and curroption thing. this movie is one of my all time favorites

  • Three and a half? Pff. Movie critics. They all need to be put on a bus and driven off a cliff.

  • i didnt read the comic, but i understood the movie.

  • this moive was horrible... i want my 10$'s back.

  • dude, there were some boring parts but ,fuck man, it was awesome

  • shut up haters, watchmen rocks

  • he is just over examining the flaws!

  • I think they should make a movie with multiple marvel superheroes, and make it like the comics were a joky false adaptation of what really happened with them. It should be dark and show the bad side of our favorite superheroes that we thought were only spandex and catchy phrases.

  • The movie was OK. Had its boring parts but the fighting scenes were awesome. If there's a sequel to this movie I think it would be incredible, just like the dark knight. Batman Begins was long & boring but I could tell that the sequel would be great if done right, which it was. Watchmen ended in a way that leads us to believe there'll be an awesome sequel with much more action. Hopefully that will be so...

  • there will never be a sequel, watchmen is done, once it ends it ends just like the GN.

  • Unless the second one is minuteman, and it would have much more action.....

  • Maybe, but they would have to actually create their own story because where the movie ended is where the novel ended.

  • Not prepared for a superhero like this? How about V for Vendetta? Punisher? Constantine? The Crow? Have you morons even seen any other movies? Even the dark, troubled superhero is a cliche.

  • Punisher movies were flaws since the first of the 3 films about him, nobody cares about them. The character is no Batman nor Superman for general audiences to be familiar with.

Constantine is not a superhero and the awful movie is an action film versión of The Exorcist, The Omen, more close to End Of Days. The Crow is not a superhero either and its a cult movie, no big hit, general audiences in search for blockbuster films care more about a Jurassic Park type films than the ones mentioned.

  • anyone who thinks this movie is goodis lying to themselves, snyder sold you shit and called it candy

  • this movie was awesome!!! all you haters shut up...no one cares what you think...

  • sucked and it showed a blue mans cock

  • If you've red the comic, you would understand, but apparnetly, you didnt

  • movie sucked

  • i loved the graphic novel and i loved the movie. watchmen is one of my favorites :)

  • best movie ever

  • A fair review. At least these guys had some well detailed positive critism. Especially compared to other reviews.

  • OMG! Me and Eric have the same HOODIE! <33 Marc Ecko Boba Fett hoodie. IT's not cheap boys, but it's worth it!!

  • cool review :D btw i like the boba fett armour jumper :P

  • It's a Marc Ecko Boba Fett Hoodie, part of his Star Wars line. I got mine right when it came out. They're not cheap, but they are worth it.

  • how much was yours? :D

  • movie was good if u read the comic den u get a better undderstanding

  • hese wearing a boba fett sweater!!

  • IGN are a bunch of idiots.

  • "Fundamental Flaws"...Yeah, try Snyder replacing the Squid with a machine that replicates Dr. Manhatten's abilities. Thus ruining the story and the ending.

"Fundamental Flaws"...Like perhaps leaving out the chapter where Rorschach causes the psychiatrist to become depressed.

"Fundamental Flaws" is probably what the casting agents keep telling themselves after giving Ozymandias to Matthew Goode

  • After watching Watchmen, I thought it was OK. I don't know, I just thought there were some things that they should've added or removed or not have at all. For example, why did they need to have Ozzymandis's cat if the squid was not going to be in the ending? There were so many people asking about the cat and then the reason why Rorschach's mask moves. I thought they could've done a little better with Rorschacs story during his interrogation and they could've done better with Manhattan's.

  • Also, they made it seem like they all have superstrength. The only ones that should have powers is Dr. Manhattan and possibly Ozzymandias since he is able to catch a bullet in the comic. I mean you have Silk Spector who punches a guy's arm and goes through the bone. Then you have the Comedian who punches through a wall. Also, they kept referring to themselves as the Watchmen, but in the comic they never did. The music was good for some of the scenes, but sometimes out of place.

  • well nah everyone could fight and punching thru a wall is a normal kungfu thing. the only real powers shown were from dr manhattan.... but i do agree with the poit why have the cat if u didnt have the squid..........

  • For people who didn't read the graphic novel, the Squid might've confused them and they would've been "WTF SQUID?!" or something to that effect.

  • Well I would have liked to see more of the origenal heros. In the begaining of the movie there were alot of wacth men though. But I liked to movie even though I never read the book. I really look forward to getting the book somday but I am sad that Warshack died
