Currently reading "Africans and their History" by Scott (I think--don't have the book in front of me). It's a sober, rational exploration of African history. But he deftly covers how the European perspective has shaped the larger world's perceptions of Africa and blacks. He does it without anger, shouting, or exaggeration. His calm, rational method actually penetrates deeper.

Clean, running, water only becomes an issue if such societies have been trampled down by modern slavery under the guise of globalization/foreign aid resources, but usually any problems with water are easily rectified by irrigation.

Any other traditional societies, such as the Temne or Mende peoples, have a traditional village life, but they do not reside in huts. Their houses are typically conical, or beehive in structure to allow for superior ventilation, specifically with certain Saharan peoples further east.

There's no shame in not having had much progress until now. After all, geography and climate kept them from developing at the same pace. Currently reading "Africans and their History" by Scott (I think--don't have the book in front of me). It's a sober, rational exploration of African history. But he deftly covers how the European perspective has shaped the larger world's perceptions of Africa and blacks. He does it without anger, shouting, or exaggeration. His calm, rational method actually penetrates deeper.

It's the motherland, yes, but I don't count African spirituality as any "better" than any sort of spiritual system. By the mid-1700s, Europeans had completely crippled W. African civilizations, and even when the sale of Africans as property was made illegal, for decades and decades they came back for more and more Africans, literally uprooting them; even the ones who thought they were safe from the White Powers, which is why the estimates are at about 60 million lives, or even more. Is that something to be PROUD of, as a human being? I think not. But it does show how ruthless Europeans were and still are.

@WarriorPharoh None of these people hunt with spears either, because they are not hunter-gatherer peoples, they usually practice subsistence agriculture and all food is gathered from well-organized farm life. Clean, running, water only becomes an issue if such societies have been trampled down by modern slavery under the guise of globalization/foreign aid resources, but usually any problems with water are easily rectified by irrigation.

@WarriorPharoh There is only one, clear example of a "primitive" society in W. Africa living in mud-brick houses, the Dogon culture of Western Mali. Any other traditional societies, such as the Temne or Mende peoples, have a traditional village life, but they do not reside in huts. Their houses are typically conical, or beehive in structure to allow for superior ventilation, specifically with certain Saharan peoples further east.

Neubians are depicted as being very dark, whereas most egyptians weren't. It doesn't matter anyway...there is irrefutable evidence that shows ALL human beings have done evil throughout history. Who someone is(what they are made of) has less to do with race and more to do with character and heart.
