you're actually wrong djlovemuscle the dart could end up at any angle dependent on the size of the horizontal component of it's velocity relative to the vertical component due to gravity which you should know from maths A level. Your maths A level will have only taught you about centre of mass motion and not the affects of air resistance on a complex object such as a dart, this also has an affect on the angle at which the dart penetrates the board

I'm sure the kid threw something, because you heard the impact of it hitting something else. However, being a darts player and having an A level in maths tells me that the flight path of the dart would not result in the dart resting in the board at the angle that it did, it would be a lot more vertical and less perpendicular to the board. Also, as the board is not a match regulation "Unicorn Eclipse" or "WINMAU Blade 3", the wires would probably be too thick to allow the dart into the bullseye.
