  • Do you know why it had three ES44DC's? Usually it only runs with two units.

  • 5494 probably got bad ordered/something wrong with it on the trip. Another reason, probably a shuttle engine to New Jersy.

  • Could be as Koz said. Also Amtrak's P052/53 "The Auto Train" had three engines (normally two) running on their north and southbound movements on their Thursday and Friday movements.
