I love Chrono Trigger. It's a game that accompanied me in my teens. The music of this game is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Best Regards.
When I was about 8, I was shopping for a game for my SNES. There was this game and a Yogi Bear game I couldn't decide on. I chose the Yogi Bear game. This decision altered the future forever and will only hasten the coming of Lavos. We must travel back in time, to the year 1996, and punch my 8 year old self in the face for being a complete idiot. This will make me come to my senses and choose Chrono Trigger, thus altering the future, and saving the world from utter annihilation from Lavos.
One of the greatest moments in the game. Could this be somehow related to Vangelis' identically named track on the Blade Runner soundtrack? I can hear no clear resemblance though...
@bmodoryx likely inspired by Vangelis - both the Blade Runner and Chrono Trigger soundtracks are highly emotive music with distinct melodies. Two of the best works of music ever
Don't worry. As I said before, we have Nintendo to remember us how really games are. In my opinion, Nintendo is one of the few (if not the sole one) that still worries for fun (nowadays).
There is a reason when I found a SNES at a church sale two or three years back, I just had to scoop it up. Not for this game, oh no. I looked at the games that came with it, Chrono Trigger? What is that? Ooh, Final Fantasy II and III! Street Fighter II? Awesome! I'm taking this. This is mine. Only Five Bucks for this and it's thirty games? SWEET!
Two Years Later
CHRONO TRIGGER IS THE BEST GAME TO EVER BE MADE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER.
@dannyjerome0 You know, those newer crappier games are the reason the retro titles are dying off. I am 13 years old and got retro games when I was 4. I will stay a retro gamer for as long as I live though, which is why I get all of those remakes with the same graphics on the VC in my Wii. I also got this one and I cannot put it down at all!
This should be about enjoying a wonderful era of the industry...yet we have people upset because others disagree. You can't prevent change, and you can't force your opinions on anyone else.
Still, all that matters is that YOU know what game sounds best to you.
Kid born in 1990+, 'HAHA your old games suck look at the graphics. Man it looks like crap. Games nowadays have REAL graphics, and we can control them by bouncing around like an idiot in the living room".
Anyone born before 1985, 'Yeah? I remember when games didn't suck. Engaging storylines, well developed characters, and solid gameplay were what developers strived for in our day. You can keep your Nintendo Asspaddle remote, and WiiPii."
I have yet to play this game (but it's at the VERY top of my list) and yet the raw heart and soul in this song grips me just as much as if I had played the game. That's good music.
@saertboy Can we get an international translator for us who can't understand this? I like reading comments, but only when I can 'read' them... .... .... .....good song.
Chrono Trigger had a perfect soundtrack, but this song in particular makes me think of CT more than any of the others. I hear this and I really want to fetch out my SNES.
this song makes me think of a medieval times setting.. a woman is missing her husband who is a knight and has gone off to war.. she sits by the fire crying every night thinking of him.. her tears become so many in number that they extinguish the fire
Yasunori Mitsuda, in all his awesomeness, is the one who created the Chrono Trigger score. This was his early work as a composer. Nobuo Uematsu was the Final Fantasty composer.
just to point somethin out, this one sounds like a slower more relaxed version of the main chrono trigger theme. if u dont believe me listen to this then the chrono trigger theme and decide for urself.
I like how this music is nostalgic - warm and sad at the same time. As though the thing you're remembering was really good, but it causes you some kind of ache.
It's funny how music works. Funnier still how this level of composition should be in a freaking video game. This is one of the best scores for any game or movie or anything I've ever heard to date.
@BLARGHALT I think you...... i think you...i think you are right man!! jeje!!... i love the music of that game.... this is a great piece of my childhood....sorry if my english is bad, but i am a Mexican jeje"!!... God Bless you"!!....
This song is representative of the realtionship between robo and Lucca, When robo saves the forest and lucca goes through the portal and "saves" her mother from the machine, when she returns he gives her the "Green Dream" accessory.
memories of when the earth was wholesome and clean... where grass grew wild and monsters were scarce... thats what i think the title and song brings back. memories of those times.
Its sad to think of it that way. I used to remember all the good times as a child. Running around in parks, having fun, and just not having to worry about problems that we have now. Everyone is so worried about the future. Its a shame its like this that many people have neglected all the simple things that make all the difference.
its sad how people overlook these highly praised games. its more than just a fad or a cult following, these games are vital to a future bigger than us. just as important as movies or music except games have both, cut scenes and fitting music inserts.
You know when you close your eyes and listen to this games soundtrack, all your flash backs as a kid come back to you.Makes me remember my childhood like it was yesterday, its so hard to believe isnt it .

I remember the Cathedral...god my brain just popped from nostalgia overload. Besides FFVII, this is the most important game to me, so close to my heart. I'll never let it go.
I miss you chrono trigger........dam those were the great days when games and imagination ruled...............today it's all about 3D violence and alot of shit that don't give you "that feeling" or a "sense of something out of this world" like Chrono Trigger did...I'm just writing what we're all feeling inside....so don't buy your child an XBOX 360 or PS3...buy them a Super Nes and Chrono Trigger!!!! but on the other hand those we're our days not our kids......sigh!
LOL... I agree, but like my man uzealeternal said, its not our days, not our kids, its like telling us to go back in the day to the settler ages b4 slice bread was the greatest thing.
No longer will we laugh at our parents obsessing over The Beatles or Elvis (okay, I actually like The Beatles myself so that's a bad example).
Hm, off topic example... how about Pac Man then? I mean, I really hate that yellow blob - what's his motive? What's his drive... where does he think he's going?
@uzealeternal You can however buy them a PS3 and a copy of Final Fantasy Chronicles for PSone which includes the glorious CT in a format that should last quite a bit longer than a SNES cartridge. I have a PSone, PS2 and a PS3, so hopefully I'll always have at least one functioning console with the ability to play CT on it.
@uzealeternal THANK YOU! AND WHEN SOMEONE SEES THIS THERE LIKE THIS SONG SUCKS I WAS LIKE WaW of call of duty they are not even creative anymore they just take songs and put them on. you just earned a subscriber! :)
@uzealeternal You gotta think of it this way, we had the privilege of actually being the first generation to play this epic game. Where as kids of today like my 13 year old nephew is picking it up on DS and saying how cool it is thinking it is a new game and getting blown away when I tell him that it has been out since I was 8.
@uzealeternal do you think that these games were so good because we were a kid and that led to a strong imagination. These days we are stressed by jobs and relationships and have no time just to let are imagination wander. However I do agree that these games were much better than the 3d games of today. Cheers :)
Good opinion. If you want good 3D games, try Mario 64 and TLOZ: OoT (for N64), or Wind Waker and Mario Galaxy. In these times, Mario Galaxy is a true oxygen tank for industry (in my opinion). Nintendo knows how to do things, and allowing a remake of Chrono Trigger (and its original release) is a sample.♥
My number-one favorite song in the entire game. I remember when I was first playing it; I wasn't quite sure what to make of the game, as I'd only had the Final Fantasy series to compare it to. Then I walked up to the entrance to the forest near Guardia Castle in 1000 AD and this song started playing.
I'm fairly sure my jaw dropped. The atmosphere of the game had me in its rock-solid grip from that moment on.
I always wondered why they called it Memories of Green, until I got high and listened to this. It was flippin sweet. Like having an orgasm without the mess
What I loved about this game's music was the clever theme-and-variations the composers used. In nearly every track, you can hear at least a seven note sub-melody of the main theme.

A dark room in a big recliner chair and TV with Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger with tons of thing snacks and dronks. Better than sex.

these songs are just so... well.. there´s no word to describe these. They are just so much more than wonderful.

What I loved about this game's music was the clever theme-and-variations the composers used. In nearly every track, you can hear at least a seven note sub-melody of the main theme.

Yes, it was all done very well, much like the scoring for any movie or tv show.

Yup! It's somewhat weird, since Lucca was the Fire Elemented team member, Marle's element is Water/Ice.
