  • i was in bangkok during april 2010, and regardless of whether you supported the protest or not, you had to admire their dedication. i stayed on soi rambuttri - a street down from khao san and we could hear their louspeakers day and night!

the violence that ensued was frightening though. we eventually managed to get out of the city (white tourists, etc) and went north to chiang mai, but not before being abandoned by several minibuses on roundabouts, and witnessing police in riotgear behaving..hm

  • Red shirt can go suck a cock! If u really love Thailand. U should stop doing this violent shit!

  • ไอพวกเดนหมาแดก

  • can the red shirt please stop? i really want to go to thailand this year!! please red shirt stop!!!!!

  • Good!

  • Solidarity from Greece

  • I saw on the news that there are gunfights between red shirts and Army soldiers in thailand

  • There are some stunning shopping malls in Bangkok eg.Paragon.

I guess this sits uneasily with the terrible levels of poverty.

  • Long Live Thaksin

  • This video has all of the flavor of protests/demonstrations that I saw in the '60's and early '70's. I was arrested in 1971 (I think on May 1st or 2nd in San Francisco CA. I was a student across the Bay at Berkeley at the time... I am not sure if it was to protest the invasion of Cambodia by Nixon, or maybe it was some other escalation of the fighting - by the way, - I heard on NPR that today is the 40th anniversary of the Kent State shootings.

  • Very good reporting - thank you. The film footage and your narration really capture something happening there. Hopefully, a different result then Burma in 1988 and 2007. Peace be with you.

  • All Thailand need is Revolution, kick the old discriminate regime out and install new one. The Thai in Bankok and the current government is bunch of racist, they never consider these people (red shirt) from in North East Thailand (Esan) as true thai. All these red shirt need is split Esan and become independent or join Laos where they belong.

  • @teng27 they never consider these people (red shirt) from in North East Thailand (Esan) as true thai. All these red shirt need is split Esan and become independent or join Laos where they belong. ....isn't true

  • Where's the blue shirts, arent they the "middle class"!

    -Stoicone!

  • What you have is the huge class of poor people in red angry at the power and influence of the wealthy in yellow. Just as in any other part of the world those with power and influence will do what they need to do to keep their position. Problem is, people with nothing have nothing to lose. They need a large middle class like we have in the U.S. to lull the masses to sleep so they are easier to manipulate. I hope the poor in Thailand gain some opportunity and respect through this struggle.

  • hahah i so happy coz the tourist that will go for songkran willbe having bad times hhahahhaa

  • so un-democratic

  • unfortunately, the demonstration turned violent....and today(April 11, '10) 18 people were killed...if the Parliament would not start doing some amendments, worse situations would come...

  • Just don't forget that the casualties were not entirely on the protester's side. A number of officers were killed, too. And, what kind of amendments do you actually mean? I'm just curious.

  • @mikess By amendments you must mean BRIBES, like the previous PM did at the expense of working Thais (yellow shirts), correct? The red shirts want nothing more than a free government handout. Get the facts straight!. The current PM has bent over backwards to resolve this peacefully to no avail. The red shirts left him no alternative. They were creating havoc in the whole city. If the previous PM was not so corrupt none of this would have ever taken place.

  • fuck they gotta go back to farming man ....

  • I am just back from Bangkok and the country is still very divided. The red shirts have certainly not won over the people of bangkok...in fact a Red Shirt protest march was cancelled today because of fear of a violent backlash.

  • Go Red Shirt.... don't stop....

    March forward for your freedom..

    Abhishittttttttttt... is a poup....

  • @artish1 This is not about freedom you moron! The Thai people are free. LOL. It is about the red shirt people wanting to get free government welfare and bribes that the previous PM gave them. Get your damn head out of your ass!

  • the thai protester is still pressuring thai prime minister to step down

  • has this protes ended yet? if not do you know how long it's going to continue? I plan to take a trip to thailand in late april 2010. is this going to effect my trip especially inthe airport of thailand? would appreciate for your opinion if you can get back to me. thanks a bunch

  • The protests are still continuing. The red shirts and the gov't did meet for negotiations but they were unable to come to an agreement. This weekend the red shirts are promising another huge rally.

No idea if the protests will be still happening in late April but so far they seem uninterested in the airport. Where ever Abhisit goes the red shirts go. I think if they did take over the airport the gov't and the people of BKK would be seriously pissed and would probably take action.

  • Thank you so much for your inpute....this does help alot...love your videos and website btw

  • @Tuajkub Too bad he is not giving you the whole story. It is very biased and bad reporting.

  • good report

  • also, I don't think the red shirts are winning support from Bangkok residents, most of the Thai people I know that live in Bangkok are indifferent to the red shirts from what I've seen...

  • Seems that way to me too. The "support" I saw may have had more to do with the entertainment factor of the parade rather than the actual political message.

  • @rainmon The reason being is that the Red Shirts are doing nothing more than demanding free welfare handouts like they got in bribes from the Previous Prime Minister. Working people do not want to flip the bill for the lazy Thais who dress in red shirts. Most of these red shirts are being paid to protest. Too bad the "Thaifaq" jackass does not inform you all of this. The red shirts support the previous PM who robbed Thailand for billions and then bribed the red shirts.

  • @rainmon The red shirts are equivalent to america's black skin people (negros). They expect free hand outs from the hard working people and do nothing to earn it. THAT is why they don't have the support of the working residents. Would you want to support people who do not lift a finger to support themselves? That is what this is all about. The red shirts have NOT been wronged. The current government is just expecting the red shirts to carry their own weight. No more bribes!

  • @kuei1248 Not all blacks in USA are as you describe, there are whites and other that want a free hand out, but I understand your point and agree. There is class war fare going on in many countries and nothing new, I hope someday we can have a better world with a good life for everyone, but that is not reality now it is star trek science fiction. Something need to be done to remove these evil and destructive forces from Thailand.

  • mmm look at all that street meat.... you thinking what i'm thinking?

  • i wil arrive in bkk tomarow night

  • You should be fine. The news is reporting that the gov't and the reds are meeting on Monday.
