The Ford GT should have either won or hung with the Vette. However, the Ford GT is a $150,000 supercar so perhaps the driver didn't feel like flogging it against a $70,000 Vette. Also, the guy does burnouts with a Z06 around a bunch of buildings and trees like the car is a beater...not a good idea.

Feruccio lamborghini hated ferrari, the best ferrari killer of the times was the GT. still, the engine was a V12 and in a diferent position.
@machone7I I was next to a white GT in San Antonio last month. The GT is a nice ride from all angles. Had the chance to drive next to it down a nice streach of road while it opened up a couple of times. Nice everything. Nicer finishing touches than the Jalpa in my opinion, but not as raw as the GT40. the cobra R came with the 5.4 with 385hp other wise it is rated at 320 hp, and their is some off shots of that, with s/c's and such hp ranging from 405 to 540. and the only 5.8 i know is the old truck motors but they had 300hp, and i havn't heard anything about this 7 liter engine

but you missed my point early,displacement don't matter, it just means that one has more potential for most hp you can possibly get out of it, but the 4.8=295hp vs 4.6=260hp, 2.3 Duratec 150hp vs 2.4 Ecotec 171hp, 5.3 ls4 303hp vs 5.4 liter 300 hp( in trucks), etc... and show me a Ford motor the makes the same hp and gets better millage, and lasts longer!
Ok the 03/04 cobras 4.6 are capable of 600hp+ on a stock block and the gt500s 5.4 is capable of 900hp. I dont know of any LS1 (5.7) that can get near that much power before it cracks. How the bigger the ci = more potiental for power is beyond me. And from the 3 engines you mentioned i can only compare with the 5.7 LS1 because ford has nothing bigger than a 5.4 currently out. Wich was 385hp n/a and the 5.8 420hp is found in the saleen s351. As for MPG idc for that im not a honda guy :P

Mustang and Camaro is the comparison, but since the Chevy guys can't get a Camaro it beat a Mustang, they have to try and compare it with a supercar. Do my research? a base line Gt has 500hp, a z06 has 505hp, the his intake and tune work adds maybe 30hp, and you don't get a3 car lenghth lead with 30 more hp, sorry, stock for stock vette wins! and xl1 should win against a z06 considering you can get one with 700hp vs zo6's 505, and lingenfilter vs a xl1... vette all the way! hands down!

1.97 is the 800hp vette, he has made a 1,109hp vette! and the 800 hp has a 1/4 9.24, and the 1000hp gt does it in 10.6 @ 142! so ya vettes all the way, 200 less hp and a sec faster in the 1/4! even the 600hp vette is only a sec behind the GT!

Perhaps youd like an engine vs. engine perspective instead. Fords 5.0 cammer with 550hp, maybe the 5.4 with 385 matching the c5 z06 5.7, and overpowering the LS1, or maybe Fords 5.8 OHV with 420hp. Chevys "new" 6.2 with 425hp, wish 2011 would be here by now so ford can bring out their "new" engines 5.0 and 6.2 coyote and roadrunner engines. Suposidly 400+hp for the 5.0 and 600hp for the 6.2, i dont think itll be that high but i know it will overpower the chevy, as always.

One no mustang gt ever came with a 5.4 so idk where you got that. The Ls1 only maxed stock 305-345hp the fords 5.4 is 385hp (btw even the 5.8 ford OHV made 410 hp wish is moret han the ls1 5.7). The zr1 6.2 is supercharged, look at the super snake mustang supercharged 5.4 it delievers 750hp LoL and theres fords "new" 7 liter also codenamed "777" for 777hp at 7000rpms with a 7 liter engine. I still dont see what your trying to say lol :)

the cobra R came with the 5.4 with 385hp other wise it is rated at 320 hp, and their is some off shots of that, with s/c's and such hp ranging from 405 to 540. and the only 5.8 i know is the old truck motors but they had 300hp, and i havn't heard anything about this 7 liter engine

but you missed my point early,displacement don't matter, it just means that one has more potential for most hp you can possibly get out of it, but the 4.8=295hp vs 4.6=260hp, 2.3 Duratec 150hp vs 2.4 Ecotec 171hp, 5.3 ls4 303hp vs 5.4 liter 300 hp( in trucks), etc... and show me a Ford motor the makes the same hp and gets better millage, and lasts longer!
LS1 5.7 350hp, 30+MPG Hy!
7.0 ls7, 505 hp 28+ MPG Hy!
6.2 635hp ls9 25+ MPG Hy!

Ok the 03/04 cobras 4.6 are capable of 600hp+ on a stock block and the gt500s 5.4 is capable of 900hp. I dont know of any LS1 (5.7) that can get near that much power before it cracks. How the bigger the ci = more potiental for power is beyond me. And from the 3 engines you mentioned i can only compare with the 5.7 LS1 because ford has nothing bigger than a 5.4 currently out. Wich was 385hp n/a and the 5.8 420hp is found in the saleen s351. As for MPG idc for that im not a honda guy :P

ls1 is good for 650-700hp, and thats a n/a motor not a motor built to handle boost.what 5.4 are you taking about? the F-150 5.4 has 300hp! so explain! and i finally found that 5.8 you are mentioning, very limited, and its supercharged and rated for 495hp as well,and don't insult me buy comparing me to a Honda guy, that is below the belt! but my point was that for a 7.0 with 505hp 28+ MPG is amazing! my cobalt gets 30-32 with 205hp and 3-400 less lbs.!!

The 5.4 im talking about is the one found in 00/01 cobra r, rated at 385 wich matched the c5 z06 hp raiting at the time. Yeah that s351 is s/c 5.8 rated at 510hp but n/a motor runs 420hp. Yeah i know being compared to a honda guy is insulting but with all due respect you brought up MPG :)

Japan has 3 cars and with proper modification they can take on or even beat anything on the road; "GTR, NSX, and the Supra."

OK.. first of all.. whoever posted this video doesn't know much about cars because that is a ford gt.. not a gt 500. A gt 500 is a 450 hp mustang. Secondly, that vette was modded like crazy. I'm a chevy fan but a stock ford gt will whip a stock z06 any day.
Also, don't know if any of you know who jeremy clarckson is but he bought a ford gt and sent it back to the ford manufacturer 16 time because it keeps breaking.
