Forget the present, forget the future. Remember the past. This group, in my opinion, is what made for the best supergroup. Here were three fantastic guys. The wizardry and genius of Keith Emerson, the power and rhythmn of Carl Palmer and the one who ties it all together, the troubadour and soul of the band, Greg Lake. The perfect combination for all time.
Lovely, lovely song. I was an early fan of ELP but missed out on their later works, after BSS, so it's actually the first time I hear this. What LP is it from? Works?
Emerson doesn't quite end the accordian portion with the Tarkus-like ending off of the Lp version. Other than that, it is great. Saw them sans the sympony around '78-'79 in Chicago.
@RADicalDownloads1 Keith never played on the studio version. He said in an interview he "copied" the accordeon solo for the live tour. Who played accordeon on the Works Vol 1 album is unknown to me
I am a member of Northwest Chicago Symphony. Where can we find the orchestra sheet music and score to songs like this? We would love to perform songs such as this, & Nights in White Satin, Beautifully written and arranged with orchestra.
i saw the concert at Olympic Stadium Montreal this year, but no, Greg did not do this song. I agree Dave, my name is Dave too, and I know what I saw and heard. You stand corrected.
My favorite ELP song...it is unfortunate they did NOT, nor did Greg Lake solo play this song on any of their reunion tours. I beleive it was played by lake in 1993 several times but not professionally recorded.
I'm a DJ in the electronic music industry, but I love all kinds of music. There is no question in my mind that ELP were the most talented band that has ever walked the face of the earth.

Wow, great to see this. I was listening to the "Works" LP with this song back in 1977, the year this concert was recorded. Brings back wonderful memories.
Reached the Top Twenty in South Africa in 1977. Those were the good days in music when prog rock etc. could make the charts. Now its only bubble gum. And some still like like it, yes they do. I think I like it
I remember that extremely tallented man and his voice as a rock. It was so extatic and proud, and clear. Who could compare with Greg in purity of sounds ? No one!
I was at this concert when ELP came to Chicago in 1977 . Soldier Field was packed and the atmosphere was amazing. By far my favorite concert of all time. The sound quality was incredible.
jedzxor thanks for the post. This is a very exciting vid and sync audio. It shows oh so clearly how big ELP were (are) and how they sounded so rich in concert. There is no doubt that ELP were (maybe, are? maybe?!) one of the greatest live bands ever. Great upload!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. This is one of those moments. Truly magnificent!! Thank you so much!
top o' the line prog rock and in good taste...what a performance !

Go right now - okay, wait until the song is finished - and buy Works 1 (if you don't have it already).
