That was funny. I've heard her sing it to an older audience that had no anti-depressant drugs in them.  They sang with her and she ended up singing harmony. It was unbelievable. Kids these days seriously need to shut up and listen once in a while.

I agree with others-----this woman couldn't butcher a song if she tried. She's the only professional singer I've ever heard have the guts to do this song without accompaniment, just her fantastic voice. The first time I ever heard her was probably 40 years ago on the old "Johnny Carson Show", and I've never forgotton it. Just glorious-----thanks for posting!!

@number1covers and others who think Joanie "ruined" the song-- this method of singing-- giving the words first-- was how it was done in the 'old days' when churches were too poor to buy hymnals for everyone which very few could read the words or the music anyway. This traditional method of church singing was probably how the song was sung originally in the first place--- Joanie didn't "ruin" anything-- she took the song back to its roots, encouraging others to sing along..

If you hate Christians, God bless you, I once hated them too. I was a horrid blasphemer, who was changed by God's grace. If this offends, you, God bless you, because the cross is an offense to those who do not believe. I am not interested in arguing with anyone. I think many people are missing the fact that John Newton, who wrote the lyrics of Amazing Grace, was a Christian.
