i am a aiforce brat and i pra y and pray my mom wont have to get deployed soon because am 13 and she and me are very close. i also only live with her when she deploys i have to cry myself to sleep and when people metion they dont support the military and troops i want to go up to them and say u know what u havent been what i have been through. i have had sleepless nights praying for others and my mother to come home safely

i know how she feels i just turned 14 in may while my dad was in iraq he is coming in in july and i cant wait , i havent seen him since before christmas of last year i hope he can make it back for my little brothers birthday i dont want him to miss any of jonathans like he did mine, hes in his seconmd tour and has been in the military since he was 18 , and has been gone for so many of my soccer games and basket ball and simpily just being with me , i hope your daughter gets to see him soon

For all of us daughters I am one of the lucky ones, my dad was a flight engineer and missed my birthdays and xmases, but in the end he came home unhurt...he was a 30 year "lifer", and a wonderful dad and roll model...He was taken by cancer...airforcebrat

I understand how she feels...My dad's been in the Mexican army for more than 30 years, he's now a colonel. I'm 25 years old now, my parents are still married but because of his job my dad was never there. He was able to be with me on my 1st, 7th and 15th birthdays, and most of the time he couldn't be with us for Xmas...So, I know how that child feels. Now I regret to say that I more than used to my father's absence, but it's the truth...I hope that doesn't happen to this little girl.

When My husband was a Marine, we didnt have kids and his deployments were hard on me - now he is Security Forces for the Air Force- and we have 4 sons - The longest he has been gone so far is three months - but we are facing a long one in 2009. This was very touching. Im glad your Marine is Home Safe! Semper Fi USMC WIFE!

Security Forces and longest time so far is 3 months??? You are lucky, tours are usually 180 days or 365 days.

He is new to the unit so he's activations have been short but that wont last come 2010 - But personally we have been through 1 year deployments with the marines. I also Teach and I see many military kids go through this
