nope, the 'M' on the cat is a dominant genetic in all cat as all domesticated cat is tabby by default. For some there is even the stripe but it would be quite faint..
Norwegian Forest Cats have the M on their forehead too..... it's not necessarily the sign of a Maine Coon, just a tabby. I mean, there are solid colored MCs withOUT the M on their forehead too, but it doesn't mean they're not an MC. The conformation of this cat doesn't really remind me of an MC but I could be wrong. But you can't distinguish a MC from another breed just because of the M marking on the forehead. Google pics and you'll see..
So much like my Cat, Mine can even jump over bath and wait for washing when i say or stay in one play as long as i dont let him go. I also trained him to jump on my shoulder when i say.
i have the same bread cat and i find him really easy to train, and he is so well behaved. my nephew put down his sandwich and went out the room, forgetting i know have a cat when he came back the sandwhich hadn't been touched and my georgie hadn't moved off his perch. and don't they love cuddles, mind i did't reliease the males can grow up to 22lbs !!!!!!!!!!
@halfdogderek it looks exactly like my cat which is a mix between Maine Coon and a Norwegian Forrest cat.. but yea the M is typicall for a main coon, and the hair and the "short" face/noce is from the norwegian part i think,... :D atleast ive been told
tu gato es la version buena y el mio es la version diabolica, en mi video no se aprecia muy bien pero son exactamente identicos, y de los bosques de noruega//
your cat is the good version and mine is the diabolical version in my video can not be seen very well but are exactly identical, and the Norwegian forests
@Haloguru999 well it is believed that NFCs desended from Maine Coons, my ex girlfriend had a Maine Coon that looked exactly (right down to the eye color and white sport on the tail) like my NFC
Its prob. the other way around ;-). NFC is an old breed in Norway. Prob. came to America as they called it then, with immigrants from Norway in the 19th century
Adorable! My aunt has a NFC that does this kind of thing all the time :) Can hold your hand at waist height and he'll stand on his hind legs to be petted too!
@sarahlynnmiller - definately a NFC in this video. My aunt (who I am staying with) also has a Maine Coon, it's clear from just spending time with them that they have quite a few differences in appearance and mannerisms of the different breeds.
I'm waiting now to see if anyone's going to declare this cat a Burman lol
I love norwegian forest cats. My sister had one of which she found on the street. He jumped in her car and when they took it out of the car he still jumped back in. She then tried to find the owners but couldn't. Such a beautiful and sweet cat :)
@gordon08122006 it's very smart and easy to train, an excelent mosquito and bugs hounter, lovable and friendly but it leaves a lot of hair. u have to take good care of her furr.
@sarahlynnmiller If it has a break in the nose it's a maine coon if not it's a Norwegian Forest cat. My 2 cats are part NFC and they don't have what is called a "break " on the nose. Look it up.
hey ur cat teesha looks SOOOOOOOOOOO similar to my cat. Ne way i lost my cat of 14 years recently an realized i had no video or photos so i searched around and found your cat! watchin this vid really helped me keep my spirits up wen my cat was gone. then after 7 LONG days my cat reappeared! an shes never gone missing before! im chuffed and plan to take lots of pics an videos ill post sum so u can see just how freakishly similar our cats look]
I had a cat called Polly who looked almost identical to this one. She was the most wonderful girl; liked to help me make coffee, would wear the filter as a hat, and told me long stories when I'd come home from work.
Teesha looks like a MC to me. I have a orange cream tabby MC mix who looks very similar. Also have a black NFC with a ridiculously huge grey bib and mane. Both are neutered and BIG. At 2 and 2 1/2 years each, they are both 20 pounders, and aren't done growing yet. If Teesha is a real avid climber, probably a wegie. The first time you see one come down a tree headfirst will freak you out. Teesha is gorgeous. You're very fortunate.
My uncle had one of those on his farm, the damn thing used to catch rabbits! I only ever stroked it once when I was a kid, first and last time. Scratched me to bits.
Only a pedigree shows a breed of a cat. Without it, it's just mixed house cat looking similarly to some breed. And this one surely doesnt look like Norwegian, nor MCO. I would bet more in the direction of SIB.
aw man, thats just like the cat i used to have, i just ran across this cat breed and i want one so bad, but i must have already had one, if so these cats are AMAZING that was the best cat i ever had, it looks EXACTLY like yours to, we named it Nermal, but she laid on the porch and died after 10 years of being alive, man did i cry, i was 14, (2 years ago) lol, i cant believe how much your cat looks like mine did, there like twins, lol, and man was she a smart cat
She's beautiful. Thanks for sharing. We have two Wegies as of yesterday... I just adore how affectionate and sweet-natured these cats are! Once you've had a Wegie they're an addiction, I reckon :)
I think you cat breed is actually a maine coon. Look at 0:02. There is an "M" above his eyes. According to cats 101 (Animal Channel) that is how you tell the difference. Plus, Norwegian forest cats have a rather large and poofy mane of white fur on their chests.
We have tons of stray maine coons at home that look just like your cat.
Well, the Norwegian Forest Cats have a sort of "M" them too. At least mine had, but that is if they actually were Norwegian Forest Cats and not some other race.
ive had norwegian forest cats for the past eight years, at least im 95% sure that is what breed they are. But 2 generations of cats have looked close and exactly like this one.
our beautiful smart loving and demanding "wedgie" is lovingly referred to as our shadow. there is about a 3 ft limit before she follows. its very comforting
