  • I like the lithograph! That's a pretty cat.

  • the budget kinda man in the commercial got dropped a piano on his head

  • thanks straitjacket43 for uploading a wheel of fortune episode on channel 9 in washington d.c.

  • $1190 for a side-by-side refrigerator in 1986?! They don't even cost that much now.

  • I miss the old WOF shows where they still buy prizes. Today's wheel shows are really boring-even if they throw in suprise trips etc. Always have a grand prize of money is boring after a while.

  • Hey, that's the Gilmores on that little $1M Chance shot at the start.

  • If you don't mind me asking, with that First Virginia Bank commercial in there, got me curious as to what part of Va you were from, im from southern Va myself

  • AT MY WIT'S END!!

Ummmmm.....Ummmmm..... (gasps) AAH-OH! AAH-OH! AAH-OH! Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Hi-five, dad, hi-five!

  • If you guys think this is in excellent quality, you should see tomxconn's videos.

  • The $175 up next to $750 looked cool. Don't ask me why I thought so. I wish they would bring back the spaces ending in 25 and 75. Would make the wheel look more interesting. $525, $575, $775, $1175? - why not? And also my $1500 wedge preferably in orange. I miss Free Spin too! I know I expect too much. Oh well, I still have my old shows to enjoy.

  • The wheel is updated by this show. $700 was $100, $800 was $175 and is this ugly brown for awhile which they finally come to their senses and change back to its original blue, $900 was $200 and love the yellow here compared to the brown it was before. Like many people I was upset to see them get rid of the $1500 space. As well I liked the $175 space. It was last space from the Woolery/Stafford era on NBC that ended in 75 or 25. Not sure why they left it out there by itself so long though.

  • The wheel takes on several changes between 1985 and 1986.The only initial difference between the NBC(daytime) and syndie wheel were the top dollar values for rounds 1 and 3.Round one $1000 is $100 on NBC and Round three $5000 is $2000 on NBC. Also, Round two offers a special prize on the wheel.

  • Well, the second half of Season 2 was when the computerized version of the WoF logo began its sighting as well as the helvetica font started being shown as category displays and closing credits, it originally had black outlines around it but starting with the following season, it began to have white outlines, this continued on at their homes here at NBC Burbank and at Studio 33 until the week of January 4, 1993.

  • As usual, the opening logo's color and all the category and prize total display colors matched the colors of Vanna's dresses/outfits that she'd be wearing that day.

  • For 1986, this tape seems to be in great quality!

And is that the $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime at 0:05?

  • i'll bet any money it was recorded on Betamax too, no VHS tape i've ever owned has stayed in such good condition.

  • PriceRight89:

That is the $1M Chance at :05...I know the couple on the right eventually won the million.

  • Cool, channel 9 in Washington, DC...I used to watch the "shopping version" on that station back in the first grade, until it changed to strictly cash later.

  • Not just any nook, a breakfast nook, WHAT THE HECK IS A BREAKFAST NOOK?

  • Some kinda... bar, maybe? No clue, man. lol.

  • Was this ever on GSN?

  • This show was so cheesy before they played mainly for cash.

  • For $154, I'll take the ceramic dalmatian! Dear God... lol.

  • The screen iss jumping a lot. What was wrong? Also, this was the "At My Cat's End" episode.

  • the tape's 22 years old. It's really in excellent condition considering!

  • Totally!

  • No line wiggling at the bottom at the screen, but pretty jumpy video.

9.8/10, because this was so great of a find, with original commercials, no less!

  • I am assuming it's a syndicated episode

  • if it's on CBS and it's from 1986...that's a safe assumption.

  • i think this episode taped in NBC until 1989.

  • This must be a WoF ep. from the 1985-86 TV season b/c the local CBS affiliate seen here is using the 1985-86 CBS Station ID logo.

  • When was This?

  • 1986.

  • I assume this is near the end of the 1985-86 season? ;)

  • and this is the year WOF original hostess Susan Stafford took over for a week after Vanna was lost her boyfriend in a plane crash.

  • B/C: It was in the 1985-86 WoF season that they began using the computerized flashing WoF logo and that it was also the last season to use those bland, grainy colors on the Big Wheel before they switched over to the more colorful Big Wheel configurations used beginning in the 1986-87 WoF season.

  • Yeah I never liked those neutral colors that the wheel had. I liked it better when the more colorful wheel templates were introduced. :)

  • another thing is how sharp those spikes surrounding the round sunbursts were. From 1981-84 for the daytime run 1983-84 for the syndie run. The spikes around the sunbursts were even slimmer than they were from 1984-86. And beginning in 1986, the spikes around the sunbursts were a little more arched and slightly less sharper.

  • that's the year i was born.

  • Me too! Although, by the time I was born, the wheel started using the brighter colors. :)

  • 1986 must've created a lot of WOF fans cos that makes three of us.

  • Make that four.

  • Ahhh... brotherhood! lol.
