fuel starvation from a problem with the valves closing to restrict fuel flow/closure of vents that allow air in to the tanks/computer programming that took precedence over the manual
controls/vapor lock in the fuel lines in addition to the theory of ice formation in the fuel.
(Take down those hazardous posts at the front of the runway!)
My aunt who lives in Romford was coming to visit her parents (my grandparents) here in Finland, and she was on the airport waiting for her flight when this happened.
I think the pilots should of announced for the passengers to brace, but then I am not a pilot nor have I been in a life threatening situation that makes my mind not think straight. They did an excellent job.
@RapierMedia If you read the actual AAIB reports (in the public domain) you will find that the time interval between the first intimation of "involuntary rollback" and touchdown was actually just 34 seconds. I think the grew did an amazingly good job under those circumstances...
So the engines failed and the ride suddenly gets rough on the co-pilot (FO) side only? what the heck was with him shaking the yoke like that. Some of the dumbest acting I have seen in a long time!
@Homerard I hear none of these accents. I hear ... perhaps slightly South African.... consistently through all of the times you point out. My parents (and most of my relitaves) are from New Zealand. 0:33 is deftinatley NOT a New Zealand accent.

@ImmortalSynn Erm... whatever, i was referring to the show. I know how the signature cabin looks like and i think i've flown enough to distinguish. So yeah. have a nice day.
So then you just enjoy asking idiotic questions for the fun of it?

@foozooljalal there IS a 777-200ER.
MegaMaster456 11 months ago
it's not an engine failure dammit... an engine failure won't indicate idle or near-idle N1s - that is around 20-30%
The engine went near-idle, they didn't exactly fail. There was still fuel being supplied, even though very restricted.
thrawn80 11 months ago
Quantas until the A380 incident was the best
Ajc52 11 months ago
thats not a 777 interior :p
seats in 777 are 3 - 4 - 3
foozooljalal 11 months ago
@foozooljalal most of the 777s are 3-4-3 but layouts can be configurable. Moreover, this is a 200ER variant, here're some numbers:
301 (3-class)
400 (2-class)
440 (maximum)
source: wikipedia
On top of that i think the 200ER variant MAY not be having the signature interior as well...
