You have to check out Patton Oswalt's bit about tom Carvel and his rather bizarre looking ice cream creations. All Carvel's ice cream cakes came from the same mold; the design on the cake was the only difference because they were all shaped the same (but that much is obvious from watching the commercials).

Carvel used to be huge in the 80's. They were all over Queens and Brooklyn. Then by the mid-90's, all I saw was Hagen-Daz and Ben & Jerry's.

What happened to Carvel? Their ice cream wasn't bad!

Yea, actually Carvel where very good back in the 80's. Quality stuff. I think with the coming of the 90's lots of stores ended up closing and it was hard (even impossible) to find Cookiepuss it most Carvel stores.

Actually, they "made" a doll of a Ice cream cake made from ice cream and asphalt depicting an alien from outerspace shaped as a demonic bowling pin. I admit, I was spoiled. There was an ice cream parlor my family went to that also made ice cream cakes. However, they used real butter cream icing. If you've ever had a Ben and Jerry's ice cream cake, it tasted similar to that. For me, they blew Carvel out of the water. Unfortunately, the parlor closed in the late 80s when the owner retired.
