I own a smart cabrio. Most of the time I don't remove the bars. If you don't do that, the roof can be opened or closed at ANY speed. How does that suck?
Is this a Canadian smart? Our Cabriolet, (Delivered May 23) is controlled electrically. Of course you would have to remove or restore the sidebars manually, but we usually don't bother. The top can be rolled back and closed even when you are driving, which is very convenient if it starts to rain. You don't have to pull over and stop to close the top. You can even open the top with the key fob. We do this often, to let the heat out when parking in the sun as we approach the car to get in..
this video is actually quite helpful bcoz i didnt know that!and also i want to know which model is the best (top of the range) or what does other models have that others dont?, im buying a smart soon and im very confused which model is the ONE to buy?...
pulse, passion, fortwo, city coupe, city cabriolet?? really appreciated thanks..
Trendzzere, in the US market there are 3 versions of the Smart Fortwo available. the Pulse is the base model, having a solid roof, the Passion is the upgrade with many addtional features, including a fixed sunroof and the Cabrio is the softtop (convertable). you might visit the "Smartusa" website or visit my channel for links. check my channel for more stuff about the Smart Fortwo.
@Trendzzere After two years I'm sure you've bought yours now... :D But to anyone interested in buying a Smart car, their top model at the moment is called the BRABUS starting at $17,990/£14,300. I'll probably be getting the Passion model (poss. cabrio) this week.
@L221L thanks so much for your reply, i didnt buy a smart in the end..its been a longg time and ive had a few cars since however i have bought an audi s5 this march and its glorious! thanks for your replies guys, all the best
thank you for posting this video. ive been wondering how this works!!!!!!!! I thought there were two types of convertibles for crying out loud!!!!! lol
Possibly, because if you look at other countries' prices, they're a lot more expensive then here in the US. I think Canada's Cabrios start at $19,000 so maybe that's what he was doing.

@NCCNeon Well removing the bars gives you a full convertible, if not its just a massive sun roof.

What model is this? My smart cabriolet closes the roof completely with the button. I don't have to manually lift it.

Is it heavy when you lift the cloth bit up before you get inside and press the button?
cookiecave1283 3 years ago
No, one handedly it can be done. check my channel for more stuff about the Smart Fortwo.
