The harmonies are great! This has been a fav song for decades before I heard this version. I can't say I love the (Scottish pipe and drum) military production. I think The first version I heard Tommy Makem and the Clancy bros. will always be the most moving.
@splotkin258 their voices have a pretty outrageous reverb which makes it seem all autotuned. but i'm not 100% sure about still. still a beautiful piece of music
I'm British and also liked it. I'm Welsh. Keep in mind that British includes Welsh, Scottish, and Corning. I believe "English" was what you were looking for, not "British", and even then I hope you were just joking to suggest that English people can't like Celtic music and culture. They did interbreed with us, after all.
Its not a sad song. Its an alcoholic whos signing. He is not bothering anyone in the pub and he just wants one more song. Its a happy uplifting typical irishman drinking song
@recruiter40 because its an insult to anyone who plays/enjoys really irish traditional music, not this sappy peice of piss that makes me cringe everytime i listen to it. Good day sir!
the most amazing version of this song, brings a tear to my eye each time as it was played at my boyfriends friends funeral a, rip kevin, forever in my thoughts x
The lead voices at the beginning, I'm guessing are Finbarr Clancy (of all the money that e'er I had) and then Martin Furey (and all the harm I've ever done).
I want it played at my own funeral procession, complete with the drums and pipes, while everyone including the priest sings and raises a pint in my memory. (And I want to be holding a rosary in my right hand and a bottle of whiskey in the other....) :D
This song is to be played at my funeral. While I am sitting upright in a rocking chair that rocks itself while wearing a full clown suit. Makeup and all.
I love this song. I'm in America and my mom and I just watched waking Ned devine. Great movie, great song.

I am so confused by this music. It's authentically Irish style but then has this really overproduced, autotuned feel that kinda makes me sick.
