  • The best ever

  • love this song. love josh ritter's homage, 'folk bloodbath', too. A mixture of this, mississippi john hurt and his own work

  • you can hear Dylan in there

  • Perhaps, but it might have had as much to do with the time limit on the recorder

  • I listened to this for the first time when I was going through a rough time and just the sound of the blues guitar and his voice like saved me. This is truly a beautiful piece of art,

  • A piece of Blues-History!!

    Great sound.

First time listened on House M.D., I like it very much!!!

  • excellent sound

  • gotta love Dylan's version as well - evidence of Dylan's underrated guitar skills.

  • A guy named spider john koerner does a cool version of this

  • LOVE this song :)

  • I've looked for a good David Bromberg version of Delia. I love his version. In his preamble he mentioned some of her history & told us where to look her up. I've been listening to versions of Delia all night. I know why I liked Bromberg's version the most. He follows Blind Willie's version pretty closely, but his is longer. I love Blind Willie's version. It is a great sub for Bromberg! Better than Bromberg & that's hard for me to say. Saw it was your upload. I should have known. Thank you! :)

  • i looked EVERYWHERE for this song.

and it made my day to find it, BRILLIANT!

  • house

  • a piece of history from the subtle blues legend, definitely one of my favourites from Mctell and of all time

  • this and lay some flowers on my grave get my vote for best mctell vocals

  • One of the best songs ever and got to love his name.

  • Absolutely fantastic! :) I love this song.

  • so sad more people dont realize

  • Absolute greatness!

  • A timeless classic

  • lol "hurry up man!" at 2:20 realy shows you how much respect this guy was getting during this recording...

  • @corerosive lol yeah, lomax was a douche

  • @corerosive

Or just maybe it had to do with the art of recording back in its infancy. The were just making up the rules as they went along. It could be that they were running out of time for that number.

  • @UriahNate well they wanted the songs to be short. mctell was a nobody, and died one. if the people recording him wanted him to hurry up, he would do it. he was lucky to be recording at all. he wasnt getting respect.

  • @corerosive

It may have had nothing to do with respect..maybe the recording disc was nearly full as a lot of these sessions were recorded onto very short duration acetates.

  • @corerosive mabye they's running out of tape

  • @corerosive Well records HAD to be under 2:30 before the 60s, so it's probably more of a heads up!

  • @frankothemountain Plus he's blind, right? It was either that or kickin' 'em.

  • Great and led to a great number of derivatives.

  • my favourite Mctell track

  • Definitely, mine too.
