well that is in part due to the fact that not everything is good nor evil, so it was a natural thing to happen, but twilight did it in the wrong way, atleast underworld had the vampires burst into flame, with anything UV, same with blade, in twilight they sparkle, it makes no sense

For Eclips (I belive that is what the third instalment is called) they are planning on having the director of 30 Days of Night to co direct it since Drew Berrymore probably will do a horrid job. Well since the director of 30 days of night admitted he hated Twilight he's going to try to make the third one more creepy and plus there are some big action scenes supposably so they needed to hire someone who can do that.
