Can you say "$8.00 per gallon for gas"? It's coming to a gas station near you very soon! They pay over 1 pound for a litre of gas in England already...that is equal to $8/gallon. I can pretty much gaurantee that within 24 hours after a strike on Iran, your local gas stations will jack the price up to at least $8/gallon in one shot. If that doesn't wake the people up then nothing will. Only by then it will be too late... martial law will be declared and the FEMA prisons will open for business.

Twenty years ago, a prominent US academic wrote "Ominous Parallels" comparing the US to pre-Nazi Germany. 40 years ago, the President was assassinated, just after the previous president warned about "the military industrial complex". 60 years ago, the US passed the legislation that created the CIA.

It took Hitler around 6 years between coming to power, and starting to ship Jews off to concentration camps. Bush has been in power for 7.

That's a good piece on the greed of the oil companies and the corruption of the Bush administration, but, while Iraq certainly is about the oil, it is simplistic to leave it at that without examining what the oil is about. For the oil companies, it's about profits, but for the rest of the world, it is about power and economies and even those nasty mushroom clouds. The oil is the wealth of the industrial world, and whoever controls it will control the world.

Excellent point! Oil is the new "coin of the realm". All currencies are measured against it. No longer are dollars considered to be the world's currency. The US will not sit idly by and allow it's position as the world's banker to be compromised. After all, how else can we survive since we are the world's largest debtor nation. No, we will eventually have to take down Iran to secure our place as controller of the world's new currency...oil. Just like in big business it's, "expand or perish".

Actually, dollars are still the world's currency, and US control of the oil market is not necessary. The dollar monopoly does not give the US control of the market, it just prevents the exporters from taking control. A single currency is a check against the cartel of exporters. The dollar acts as an "OPIC," Organization of Petroleum Importing Countries to OPEC. It would be better for all to keep it that way.

I disagree! The oil producing countries, with the exception of Iran and Iraq, signed an agreement with the US to sell their oil in dollars in return for our technology in drilling and refining. This agreement also provided for the OPEC countries to purchase a portion of our national debt on a yearly basis, in order for the US to control inflation. Oil definitely IS the new currency of the world, ask any economist with a shred of international knowledge. All currencies are measured against it.

You are correct about the pieces. The whole picture is so insanely stacked against the middle classes it leaves me feeling defeated. This greatbroad channel is where I have often directed people to my favorites. There are many pages of excellent video here. That's why I love YouTube. If you search 'Bush Family Nazi Connection' for example you will find dozens of offerings.

Now we can watch video instead of the old library books. The people are learning more about the secrets of the US richest.

The drawback is that the information has become even more fragmented. Books can be as misleading as videos, but at least it takes a writer and a publisher and a printer and a distributor to put them out, so you have fewer of them, which allows them to be more effectively vetted. But any old hack can slap a video together and put it on YouTube. Plus, people self-select their information, feeding their own inclinations which may not correspond to reality.

Even Ron Paul ignores the real issue, which is control of the oil market. By maintaing the dollar monopoly the US keeps the oil market from being controlled by the exporters. And the US doesn't control it, either. The dollar merely keeps the oil exporting nations, like Iran and Norway, from leveraging their oil power to control the world.

-Los Angeles was designed around an electric train system, not the highway system. It was purchased by GM and Socal Oil Company and Firestone, who then shut it down. This made the residents dependent upon road transport alone.

-They did this in other big American cities across the United States, ensuring road transportation became dominant.

Sure, I care. I was just wondering what that has to do with US Iran policy. Yes, the rich bastards will benefit from success in Iran, or even failure, in the short term, but that does not preclude the poor from benefitting as well. What helps the world economy and the American economy will help the American poor, or at least help keep their lot from being worse. Even the CA example is more complex than you imply. There probably are and have been more poor people able to buy cars because of it.

Iraq and Iran are the only countries who didn't sign the agreement back in 1971 to always sell it's oil in dollars. Sources are saying that Iran has threatened to, at a specific moment in the future, flood the markets with cheap oil and sell it in Euros. They already have the infrastructure in place to pull it off. If allowed to happen it would ruin the US economy as well as crippling our military capabilities. We are engaging in these wars to save our very existence. That is the truth!

I am not comfortable with the Iranian government getting nuclear power or fissal material at this point in its history. However considering the massive budget debt the US is running which is over 10 trillion, War is simply a bad idea.
