  • Team lift!

  • The way this man thinks is incredible.

  • I was so nervous when you started lifting it up.

  • How much do you smoke?

  • YOU ARE COMPLETELY MAD well done

  • JME, you are my new idol!

It's 4 am and I just discovered your videos, why in the heck arent you more popular? This is so amazing!

  • your an inspiration gear head ,garage guys,.diy;erz, everywhere !!!

  • One way to make these videos better, add the beta transcribe audio thingie on.

    its funny

  • Wow this build is amazing, I've learned a lot from your designing keep it up! You might want to invest in some steel toe boots though, you drop that thing on your toe and you'll probably lose it, not to mention the welding! Best of luck with the build!

  • "then i just stick it in here and pull up and bend it and move it little and bend it a little more and it's a lot of eyeballing and trying to get it right. oh, and sometimes this part gets spread out too far so the balls all fall out, so you just take it on something like this and whack it with a hammer..."

    haha that's what she said.

  • I was saying no because that thing weighed to much for your back. Good job with the wooden horses attached under the robot.

  • I'm glad I found your videos, this has kept me occupied all morning. You sir, are fantastic.

  • please make a "how to do anything" video

  • Hah, good lift man XD

  • I am glad you didn't kill/maim/crush or otherwise herniate yourself.

  • okk

  • You inspire me...

  • Man you are fooking awesome! I just hope you don't get killed on camera XD

  • youre soo right about that someone can sotle your hole idea

  • i thoght for bending the dwars you should have used a tire or something woth a perfect angle

  • Lexx was great. I'm glad you saw it.

  • I'm glad it's not a "how to" video series. It's fun watching you pull this original idea out of your mind and actually put it together.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying my rediculous viveos! ha ha. Appreciation helps with the embarrassment. ha ha. Really, I cringe any time I watch one of these. :-P

  • @JMEMantzel I think everyone gets weirded out when they hear or see themselves because often times you don't sound or look exactly the way you think you do.

  • Free unlimited supply of energy using magnetic fields!!!! Look up- Nikola Tesla!!!!!!

  • Once again I'm deeply in luv with this project , can't wait to see the epic final ^^

  • Aw yes.... the epic battle to combat failing parts, and bad welds. ....to finally wrap everything in duct tape and have to work flawlessly! Hmm... thats not the most optomistic prediction. ha ha

  • nah , but the end result might be quite interesting :3

  • Whoa nice work!

What have you planned for its powersource?

A car´s combustion engine? Or perhaps a jet engine? :D

  • Well.... no. A 2HP electric motor. I may have a generator in the passenger seat half the time if I'm going farther then the batteries will let me. I'm not to that bridge yet, though.

  • I have a question, if you think its not to personal. How do you fund this? You said that you don't have an official job... So do you secretly rob people or what?

  • Oh... how do I fund this??? Well, I work and save money, then I don't work, and I'm cheap. :-P So instead of spending money on things like fancy cars sand beer like most guys, I make robots and stuff. Also, on my website I have a "donate to the giant robot project" button, and once in a while someone sends me a surprise. :-) Not enough to pay for the whole thing or anything, but it sure is a huge moral boost when someone sends $50 or so...

:-) ...and a few people have.

  • P.S. forgot to say something When this is finished you should so take it to the MAKER fair.

  • I may have to look up this maker fair. Do you know where it is?

  • Wow if i may say you are amazing. i wish i had some thing like your dome but instead of being warmer than out side its cooler for after all the northern Region of Australia is a giant greenhouse. i wish you lots of luck with this project and i cant wait to see what its like when its done. and make sure its fun though looks like your prity good at making it fun.

I hat to ask you this but may i inquire into how much the your Dome house cost. i can understand if you don't want to tell.

  • lol dam word limit what are your dimentions for your G.S.T (Giant Spider tank) i think you've said but i couldn't find it again.

    MicHael

  • Ah, and yep! Its all fun! ...even when its not. the GST as you call it (thats Goods and Services Tax in Ontario where I grew up) will be about 10-12ft tall, and about 15ft across. Please excuse my silly imperial measurements.

  • Aw, thanks! You're in Australia? Thats one of the places I really want to visit. The dome has a cooling system too. its an underground pipe that brings in cool air. :-)

The dome cost about 2000$ in materials. The tower I'm building will be a couple hundred in bolts, and everything else will be wood from my own forest. :)

  • I think Australia in my opinion is well worth the visit.

Wow cooling and heating nice and all that for 2000 in materials. I'm guessing a lot more in labor.

GST we have it here to i just remembered after i posted.

  • You need a car lifting thing....I know you're gonna have to s\do that a lot. Pretty soon, it won't even be humanly possible.

  • Aw, I'm nt worried. Lifting the thing is the least of my worries. There are way tougher parts to figure out than lifting a heavy thing.

  • Wow, more ball bearings :O

Does it actually have a name?

  • Well... so far its called Jaimie's Giant Robot. :-P I guess if I don't come up with a different name, thats gonna stick. ha ha.

  • The virus? Because it looks like a virus? At least the prototype does...

  • ya. its a virus. It'll inject the planet with robot instructions using the planetary materials to create more robots... then the planet will burst, and gajillions of robots will fly out into space to attack other planets.

  • I like it.....

  • I'm stealing that for a movie, AND I WON'T GIVE YOU CREDIT!!!

I'll post it on a new channel called Fox studios.

    lol.

Really, I might do that You'll get credit if I actually get off my ass and do it......

  • Actually, the basic premise of using robots to convert planetary matter into more robots happened in season 2 of "Lexx". The entire light universe was converted into drones. ...and subsequently collapsed when too many of them moved too close together.

  • huh.....hmmmmm......

    Yes.

  • I can't wait to see the finished product. What type of electronics are you going to use and will it be an automated walk?

  • Not much int he way of electronics. Its almost all mechanical. There's a human driver. There'll be a speed control, a coulple sensors, and motors to adjust the legs to keep it level, and thats about it.

  • Great. Simple is usually more reliable. Again, can't wait to see it finished.

  • Another quick question. Do you have internet up on the mountain? You said you dont have a TV. Did you tape it before you left, then put it on the internet?

  • There's a public library a mile from the Dome that has wireless internet. I usually go there with my laptop. I've been thinking about getting internet up there, but if I was paying 50$ a month, I'd feel compelled to waste more time on it! Besides, I get exercise walking to the library.

So, thats where i go to upload things when I'm there.

  • Also, I guess this storm that just hit the NE coast just set production back for you?

  • Nope! You might have missed it, but.... somewhere around episode 6 I absconded to Florida! :-) Its sunny and warm.

  • Ohh really? Cool, well thats good. When are you heading back to the mountain? After winter?

  • Mid March it looks like. ...just in time to make some maple syrop! I'm really hoping to get the robot finished before I leave here. That might be pushing my luck, though.

  • Well keep at it, you should sell your truck and drive your robot there. Think it would be street legal? Also, do you have an idea on what the gas millage would be?

  • Well... it'll about 14ft wide or so. So.... I doubt street legal. :-P It would take forever, and would probably fall apart after 1000 miles, and I would be stranded in Virginia. :-P

  • Ha! That would really suck... That means the part you've been working on for the past couple months was only a leg? Because at first I thought it was the hip part, but thats no where near 14'

  • It is the hip part. ....and all the stuff inside and on it is the body.. or guts that make the legs work. The legs will stick out pretty far.

  • Cool, The legs must be huge then. Also, Check your inbox.

  • The legs will be pretty long. Did you see the small version in the first video?

  • Wow, you really are committed to this. I guess when you have a goal and stick with it anything is possible. Great work man! Keep it up! Also, I think that the military is already looking into this. They would have to, seeing as how it MAY be considered a WMD... So yea... But still, awesome work!

  • Ya, when I commit to something, I pretty much go balls to the wall so to speak. Oh... whole hog? uhh... stick all eggs in one basket? Well, whichever. success or death.

I don't think my robot is much of a WMD, though. ha ha.l Maybe if I get to build one 50 stories tall! ....with lasers on it. :-P mmm.... walking fortress. Thats what I'm living in if there's an apolcalypse.

  • You do realize, if you complete this(I have no doubt that you will), the military will probably want to use them, because of their ability to move on different terrains.

    :(

  • Ya, they might. I don't have a problem with the military having technology. I just go around hoping they use it well. That would be sweet to get a military contract! Titanium parts.. mmmm...

I figure this is more of an exploration/construction machine anyway. Its not like it could compete with a B-52 bomber or something in terms of destructive capability.

  • I think my great uncle manned a machine gun on a B52.. Hmm...

  • When you go back to the dome. How will you get the hevey robot parts up the hill? Or are you gonna leave them at the current workshop?

  • Well.... I think it will be interesting stuffing a 12ft tall robot into the back of my littel pick up truck. ha ha. It'll come apart into pieces that I can carry. Its totally going back to the dome. Its made for walking in the hills. :-)

  • What about the trees on the hills, wont that make moving the legs impossible?

  • Oh, thats what axes are for. :-) I need to feed my lumber mill with something!

  • Don't forget a spot to put the giant speaker that constantly repeats "MUST DESTROY HUMANS" followed by random binary.

  • Hmmm.. I think I have to save that for when I build a 100ft tall robot. ha ha. Well... unless I put lasers on it. mmmm, robot lasers.
