I have Patrick Jane's ablities, too, because he really is an EMPATH (I mean the PSI empath, NOT the common empath), otherwise he won't be able to feel other poeple's emotions and their true source. As a person (am talkin' about behavior now), he is alot like me. And I am proud, too :-)))
I watched the show recently and found out why he likes to sleep in his office. He really is ALONE. And scared. He looks like a confident guy, but thats just his mask and work of his ego (protection from the others). When he comes home, he sees a phantom og his ded family everywhere, and thats haunting him. He needs to hear some "sounds of life" around him, so he sleeps at work.
@Calucifer13 i'll never forget the 1st episode, jane went home and slept on the floor of the room his family was murdered in, right under red john's smiley face... since then, he sleeps strictly at CBI...

Simon Baker is such a talented actor - unsurpassed in my opinion. I love the way his eyes are windows to his characters thoughts, so it was fascinating to hear them talk about internal acting as opposed to external. It was also so interesting to hear Simon's analysis of the darker side of Patrick Jane.

I liked what he said about laughing & crying, that's actually one of the things which I truly enjoy the about The Mentalist, it makes you laugh & cry at the same time... it's funny, but also very emotional & tragic. One truly feels for & with the characters, especially with Patrick Jane.
The Mentalist is definitely one of the best shows on TV in a long time. Kudos to the wonderful cast & crew.
Poor Simon can't get a word in that other guy never shuts up :(

@lafemmesabotage yeah, i did wonder if RJ could be psychological but after the finale of season 2 i don't really think so anymore.
and this was a great interview...i love seeing actors takes on the character/s they play.
