i orginized my closet yesterday....i took out the old winter clothes and clothes i dont wear, and folded them and put them on the top shelf of my closet...then i took out all of my t-shirts and orgianized them by color, lightest to darkest....

I think it's easier to take everything out first, and then sort it - then you only put back what's left after sorting.

I am currently trying to clean out my closet... it's a pain! I have this beautifull closet with shelves on the inside, on the side wall, but right now it is filled with boxes of broken toys from way back when (I am 16). Also I was wondering if there were like rack type things to place in my closet so I could take the bar thing out. So I can get to things. :)

I bought a bunch of clear hangers with metal hooks from a lady on Craigslist who was closing her store for a great price! It totally made my closet so much better.. I loathe wire hangers. I have a box of clothes to take to the women's shelter. I use milk crates on the shelves for all my purses. Waterfall tops and some skirts for more room.

see i have a prob there is a dresser in my closet so i dont have a place for my shoes...the closet is both mine and my 17 month old's.

That is a tough one. If you can't move the dresser out of your closet into your room, then I have two suggestions. 1. Store your shoes in clear boxes and put them on the highest shelf of your closet. It may be inconvenient but at least they are out of the way and you can see what you have.

2. Create a shoe storage system in your room. You could use a dresser. If you use a dresser, you could put fancy shoes in one drawer, tennis shoes in another, etc. Another way to do it would be to get a standing shoe rack for a closet. Put your shoes on it. Then get fabric and attach it around the sides and front of the rack to cover the shoes. It will look very shabby chic or country.

youre cute. thanks for the informative video. i used wooden coat hangers for my clothes. i think it was from the old Queer Eye show i learned from on tv few years ago.

I have a habit of consistencies. So the hangers work well.

Thanks so much! Wooden hangers work just as well. The only reason clear ones are suggested is because they don't block the colors of the clothes, which allows you to easily scan what you have. But you're not alone, many people prefer the beauty of wood hangers.

The methods I learned just work that well. But I do agree with you. I need a bigger closet as well!!! I think everyone does.

Haha... I don't know if I'd say I'm proud. How can I be proud when it's so easy. Once you have the system set up, it just works like magic. You basically do nothing -- which is so nice. And yes, I love opening up my closet now. It's so relaxing and inviting. It makes getting dressed fun.

Crystal hangers snag and tear gentle fabrics, break, crack, and do terrible things. Wood is the way to go. It's really easy to put hair elastics over to hold spaghetti straps.
